(p. 17) ambāramu ambāramu. [H.] A heap of grain. ధాన్యరాశి. Also, the government share in a crop. (Vizag) అంబారసొఝు to heap up grain అంబారములుగా పడియుండు to lie in heaps. ఉభయరాశి అంబారము a heap of grain containing both the shares due to government to the landholder.

(p. 20) akkuḷlu akkuḷḷu. [Tel.] n. A sort of grain called ఆట్రగడలు.

(p. 21) akṣatalu akshatalu. [Skt.] vulgarly అక్షింతలు n.plu. (lit. unbroken grains.) Grains of raw rice, made yellow with saffron. The red mark worn by some Hindus on the forehead formed of saffron and slaked lime. పసుపురాచిన బియ్యము, పేలాలు. నొసటను పెట్టుకోవడమునకై పసుపు సున్నము కలిపిన బొట్టు.

(p. 34) aḍapaṭṭe aḍapaṭṭe. [Tel.] n. A board used for smoothing a ploughed field after the grain is sown: in effect corresponding with a roller. పొలములో విత్తనము విత్తి, మిట్ట పల్లము లేకుండా సరదడమునకై యెడ్లనుకట్టి తోలే మాను, దిండు.

(p. 38) aḍḍamu or అడ్డమైన aḍḍamu. [Tel.] adj. Cross. నన్ను అడ్డమైన మాటలు ఆడినాడు he reviled me. అడ్డమైనకూళ్లు any food that comes to the hand. నాకు అడ్డమైనపని పెట్టుతున్నాడు he employs me in anything that comes to hand. వాడు అడ్డదోవలు తొక్కుచున్నాడు he goes the wrong way to work. అడ్డకట్ట aḍḍa-kaṭṭa. [Tel.] n. A dam or bank, an embankment. సేతువు, చేలకు నీళ్లు నిలిచేటందుకు కట్టిన గట్టు. అడ్డకత్తి aḍḍakatti. A broad sword. పట్టిసము. అడ్డకమ్మి aḍḍa-kammi. A cross piece, the cross selvage in cloth. అడ్డకర్ర aḍḍa-karra. A cross-piece of timber: an obstacle: a bar. విఘూతము. నా పనికి అడ్డకర్రలు వేయుచున్నాడు he throws difficulties in my way. See అడ్డము. అడ్డగోడ addagōḍa a cross-wall. అడ్డచాపు aḍḍa-tṣāpu. A cross beam. అడ్డవాసము. అడ్డతల aḍḍa-tala. A narrow projecting head: having a narrow fore head. నిడుపు తల. అడ్డదూలము aḍḍa-dūlamu. A cross beam. అడ్డదోవ aḍḍa-dōva. A crossway. అడ్డపలక aḍḍa-palaka. A cross plank. అడ్డపట్టె. aḍḍa-paṭṭe. A thick board drawn by two oxen used for smoothing a ploughed field after the grain is sown. మడిసమముచేసే మాను. అడ్డుపడు aḍḍa-paḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To interpose, to help; to obstruct, impede. విఘూతమగు, వారించు. నా పనికి అడ్డుపడ్డాడు he threw obstacles in my way. భార్యను కొట్టబోతే కొడుకు అడ్డుపడినాడు as he was going to strike his wife his son interposed. నేనడ్డపడకపోతే వాండ్లు వత్తురు had I not interposed they would have died. అడ్డపాటు aḍḍa-pāṭu. [Tel.] n. Obstacle, hindrance, obstruction. అడ్డి, విఘ్నము. అడ్డబాస aḍḍa-bāsa. n. A nose jewel. బులాకి. అడ్డబొట్టు aḍḍa-boṭṭu. A cross mark worn by the Hindus on their fore-head. అడ్డమాను aḍḍa-mānu. A cross bar. వాడు అడ్డవాట్లు వేస్తున్నాడు he throws impediments in the way.

(p. 39) aṇuvu aṇuvu. [Skt.] n. An atom. లేశము Name of a grain, Panicum Miliaceum. నల్లవరి. అణుత్వము aṇutvamu. [Skt.] Atomic nature, minuteness. అణుమాత్రము aṇumātramu. [Skt.] As small as an atom. అణుజాలము aṇu-jālamu. [Skt.] A collection or multitude of atoms. అణుమధ్య a slender waisted girl. అణువృహి aṇuvrihi. [Skt.] Name of a fine sort of rice. అణ్వంతము aṇvantamu. [Skt.] A hair splitting question.

(p. 44) addamu addamu. [Tel.] n. A mirror, a pane of glass, అద్దాలు or కంటి అద్దాలు spectacles. అద్దాలతలుపు a glass door. అద్దాలరవిక a spangled jacket. అద్దపుదోసిలి the fee for the looking glass, a certain allowance of grain granted to the village barber as remuneration for his services.

(p. 57) anulōmamu anu-lōmamu. [Skt. lit With the hair or grain.] adj. Regular, successive. యథాక్రమము, ఆరోహణక్రమము గలది.

(p. 62) aparamu a-paramu. [Skt.] adj. Other, another, latter. అన్యము, ఉత్తరము. అపరక్రియలు n. Obsequies, funeral rites. దినవారాలు, కర్మాంతరము. అపరధాన్యములు or అపరాలు or అపరదినుసులు other kinds of grain, miscellaneous grains, all sorts of grain in pods, such as beans, &c. కాయధాన్యములు. One verse says. 'ఉత్తరే పూర్వసస్యాని అపరస్యానిరేవతౌ.' అపరనామము n. A second name. రెండో పేరు. అపర భాగము n. The hind part, వెనుకటి భాగము. అపరమంత్రములు n. Funeral prayers. అపరరాత్రి midnight, the latter half of the night. అపరలోకము another world. అపరవారధి the western ocean. వాడు పూర్వాపరములు చేయించగలడు he is qualified as priest to solemnize both the marriage and funeral rites. అపరాహ్నము or అపరాహ్ణము [Skt. అపర+అహ్నము.] n. The afternoon. రెండు ఝాములకు మీదికాలము.

(p. 74) amādinusu amādinusu. [H.] n. Goods, market wares, as grain or vegetables.

(p. 83) aruvu aruvu. [Tel.] n. A loan in grains. ధాన్యాదుల అప్పు. అరుపుకాపు a tenant. అద్దె కాపు. అరువు. [cf. Tamil అరివి] n. Good sense; judgement; the reasoning faculty. తెలివి. వానికి అరువు చెడినది he has lost his wits. అరువుతిక్క aruvu-tikka. [Tel.] n. A disease among cattle in which the belly is swollen in consequence of eating green fodder. ఉంగిడిరోగము, అనగాపశువులకు వచ్చే ఒక వ్యాధి.

(p. 84) arzu arzu. [H.] n. Breadth. The measurement of a heap of grain from the bottom to the top. అర్జుపట్టు to search, examine.

(p. 87) alamu alamu. [Tel.] n. Weeds that grow in fields of dry grain. జొన్న మొదలైన మెరక చేలలో మొలిచిన గడ్డి. ఆకు అలములు leaves and weeds.

(p. 109) āgāḍi āgāḍi. [Tel.] n. An inferior sort of grain.
