(p. 1396) akṣantalu akshintalu. [from Skt. అక్షతలు.] n. A kind of thorny grass which sticks to one's clothes.

(p. 21) akṣatalu akshatalu. [Skt.] vulgarly అక్షింతలు n.plu. (lit. unbroken grains.) Grains of raw rice, made yellow with saffron. The red mark worn by some Hindus on the forehead formed of saffron and slaked lime. పసుపురాచిన బియ్యము, పేలాలు. నొసటను పెట్టుకోవడమునకై పసుపు సున్నము కలిపిన బొట్టు.

(p. 83) arghamu arghamu. [Skt.] n. Price. Adoration, worship, respect. మూల్యము, వెల, పూజ. అర్ఘబలాబలము the cheapness or dearness of commodities. అర్ఘ్యము arghyamu. n. A respectful oblation to gods or to venerable men, of rice, darbha-grass, flowers, &c., with water, or of water only. పూజార్థార్హజలాదికము. అర్ఘ్యపాత్ర a vessel for this. అర్ఘ్యపాద్యాదులు the same with the addition of water for the feet, &c అష్టార్ఘ్యములు the 8 kinds of offerings, viz., పెరుగు, తేనె, నెయ్యి, అక్షతలు, గరిక, నువ్వులు, దర్భ, పువ్వులు. అర్ఘ్యము adj. Venerable, deserving worship. పూజకు తగిన, యోగ్యమైన.

(p. 83) arca, arcana or అర్చనము archa. [Skt.] n. Worship, adoration. సపర్య, పూజ. This is of 8 kinds: ముగ్గు, సుగంధము, అక్షతలు, పుష్పము, ధూపము, దీపము, ఉపహారము, తాంబూలము. అర్చకత్వము archaka-tvamu. [Skt.] n. The office of an officiating priest. నంభితనము, పూజచేయుట. అర్చకుడు archa-kuḍu. n. An officiating priest. పూజచేయువాడు, నంబివాడు. అర్చించు archinṭsu. v. a. To worship, adore, offer, as flowers. పూజించు. అర్చితుడు n. One who is worshipped.

(p. 598) dīviñcu dīvinṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To bless. ఆశీర్వదించు. దీవన or దీవెన dīvana. n. A blessing, a benediction. ఆశీర్వాదము. దీవెన వీడెము a farewell. దీవనబ్రాలు Same as అక్షతలు or సేసలు (q. v.) దీవెనకోల dīvena-kōla. n. A salutation. నమస్కారము.

(p. 816) pōciḷlu pōchillu. [Tel.] n. A superstitious rite (ఉపశ్రుతి) regarding omens: a few grains of rice (అక్షతలు) put in water are flung on the roof of a neighbour's house: he who so casts them sits in a corner and listens for any words he can overhear in the family: the words are put together and a meaning is elicited. 'శకునజ్ఞుల నడుగుదు రట్ల, యెనరంగ పోచిళ్లు పోతురు మరియు, గద్దె చూసింతురు గౌర నోముదురు.' L. iii. 105.

(p. 847) prālu prālu [Tel. plu. of ప్రాయి. (q. v.) n. Rice. బియ్యము. Consecrated rice, తలబ్రాలు, అక్షతలు. 'ఎసటబ్రాలిడి ముచ్చటకేజనునె.' Chamatkar. iii. 'జగము గెల్వంగ దండెత్తుమగనినమీద, లీలరతిజల్లుదీవెన ప్రాలనంగ.' Parij. ii. 42. దీవెనప్రాలు, అనగా శోభనాక్షతలు.

(p. 1354) sēsalu or సేసబ్రాలు sēsalu. [from Skt. శేషా.] n. Raw rice thrown on the heads of the bride and bridegroom during the marriage ceremony. మంత్రాక్షతలు, అక్షతలు, తలబ్రాలు. సేసకొప్పు tresses worn on the wedding day. పెమడ్లికొప్పు. కొండెసిగ. 'సేసకొప్పున౛ారు చెంగల్వమొగడలు జాగరారుణకటాక్షముల సెనయ.' Vasu. iv. 121. 'వారలుత్సహించి వలనొప్పదీవించి, సేసలిడిరియు వతిశరమునందు.' B. X.
