(p. 14) andu andu. (a defective pronoun.) There, in that place. అక్కడ. అందుకు or అందులక thereof, thereto, for that. అందులో therein. అందున or అందుచేత thereby, by that. అందునిమిత్తము therefore. అందుమీదట adj. thereafter. అటుతర్వాత, వాడు వచ్చి చేరినందుమీదట. after his arrival. అందులకు (an affix) thereto, for that. వ్రాయగలందులకు ad scribendum, to write. అందువల్ల (an affix) thereby. పోయినందువల్ల యేమి ప్రయోజనము what is the use of going? ఆయన రాగలందులకు for his coming. నేను వచ్చేటందుకు అయిదు దినములు పట్టును it will take five days for me to come. అట్లా ఉన్నందుకు for its being so. వాడు అట్లా చేసినందుచేత as he has done so. వాడు అట్లా చేసేటందుచేత by his doing so. అందులకు ఒక ప్రతి వ్రాసినాడు he wrote a copy of it. 'ఇందుగలడందు లేడని సందేహమువలదు' there is no doubt he is every where. ఇందు అందు both here and there; here and hereafter: in this life and the next. అంద in the same place దానియందే; అందలి = అక్కడ ఉండే.

(p. 30) aṭaka or అటుక aṭaka. [Tel.] n. A loft under the roof of a house.

(p. 31) aṭu aṭu. [Tel.] adj. That. అటు తర్వాత after that. అటుపూర్వము Before that. అటుమొన్న the day before that preceding yesterday. ఏటికి అటుపక్క on the other side of the river. అటుపోక యెటు పోయెనో he did not go there, but is gone I know not whither. తురంగంబటునిటుబడి పారిపోయె the horse ran this way and that way and escaped. అటు atu. [Tel.] adv. So, thus, in that way or manner. అట్లు, ఆరీతిగా. అటువలెనే adv. In like manner. అదేరీతిగా. అటుగాన adv. Wherefore, therefore: so then if so.

(p. 31) aṭuka aṭuka. [Tel.] n. A loft in a house, under the roof.

(p. 31) aṭukulu aṭukulu. [Tel.] n. Rice wetted, parched and flattened.

(p. 31) aṭulu aṭulu. [Tel.] adv. Thus, so that, according to. అట్లు. 'జుంటితేనె కత్యంతము తేటబుట్టినటు లాతని.' T. ii. 64. అటులైన aṭulaina. [Tel.] adv. If so. అట్లాగైతే.

(p. 31) aṭuvaṇṭi aṭu-vaṇṭi. [Tel.] adj. Like that, such. అలాగంటి, అట్టి.

(p. 32) aṭṭi aṭṭi. adj. pron. Such, like that అటువంటి Such a man అట్టివాడు అట్టిట్టు n. (lit. that way and this way.) Confusion. అయినమట్టుకు వాడు ఈ ఊరిని అట్టిట్టుచేసి వెళ్లినాడు he ruined this place. అట్టిట్టుగా adv. In a confused state. వానికి ఇప్పుడు అట్టిట్టుగానున్నది he is in a very critical state. అట్టిద it is such or is it such? అటువంటిదే.

(p. 32) aṭṭiḍu aṭṭiḍu. [Tel. from అట్టి+వాడు] n. Just such man. అటువంటివాడు. 'నీవట్టిడవగు టెరుగవు.' M. XII. vi. 284.

(p. 36) aḍuku aḍuku. [Tam.] n. A pile or heap, దొంతి. Also అటుకులు. (q. v.)

(p. 62) apanepamu apa-nepamu. [Skt.] n. False or unjust accusation. అవదూరు. 'అటుబోయినంతలో నపసెపమౌను.' Sar. D. 106.

(p. 99) aṣa asha. [Tel. for అట] v. They say, it is said: as వెళ్లినాడష they say he is gone. (This and the following forms are used chiety by Vaidiki women among the Brahmins.) అషు ashu. [Tel. for అట్లు] adv. Thus, so. అషయితే If so. అషుంట adv. Further or farther. అవతల. అషువంటి for అటువంటి adj. Such. అషే for అటే a phrase used in questioning a woman: thus, వాడితో చెప్పినావషే did you tell him? (a word addressed to the wife, &c.)

(p. 135) iṭu iṭu. [Tel. lit. this way.] adv. Thus; ఇటుకితము heretofore. ఇటువంటి iṭuvaṇṭi. [Tel. వంటి = వంటివలెనుండు] Such ఇట్టి. ఇటువంటిపనికి to such an affair. See అటువంటి. ఇటువలె iṭu-vale. Similarly. ఇట్లు.

(p. 147) u u. [Tel. In common writing the vowel ఉ is shaped like ర. Compare with this the Kanarese ఉ and the Skt. ఉ and Eng. U and W, all having the same origin.] The vowel U, as sounded in put, as in oo foot. Many Telugu words use A or U at pleasure: particularly in the second syllable, thus: వాలుగ or వాలగ, పరచు or పరుచు, కరగు or వరస or వరుస, అటక or అటుక, తరము or తరుము, పలకరించు or పలుకరించు. If one of these forms does not occur we must look for the word the other spelling.

(p. 487) ṭ ṭa. The name of a letter. In composition this is sometimes changed into డ thus చేటుపాటు chēṭu-pāṭu. becomes ఛేడ్పాటు chēḍ-pāṭu. Colloquially it changes into ష. Thus అటువంటి, అఘవంటి as, in English, intention is pronounced intenshun. This letter ట is sometimes inserted to prevent elision. ఉప్పు+ఏరు (uppu-ēru) becomes ఉప్పుటేరు (uppu-ṭē-ru.) a salt river. పెంకు+ఇల్లు, పెండుటిల్లు. This may happen even where the first word is Sanskrit, thus: మదపుటేనుగు.
