(p. 37) aḍugu aḍugu. [Tel.] n. The foot, the footstep, a pace, step, the bottom, basis. A foot in length containing twelve inches. A line of verse. Thus four 'feet' make one stanza, or quatrain. చెట్టు అడుగు the foot of a tree. అడుగురాయి a stone at the bottom కొండ అడుగుననుండే ఊరు a village at the foot of a mountain. ఆ కథను అడుగునుంచి చెప్పు tell the story from the beginning. కుండ అడుగు the bottom of a pot. అడుగంటకోయు to cut off by the root. అడుగుతో పెళ్లగించు to eradicate, to root out. అడుగారిపోవు to be utterly ruined. నా మాటకు అడుగుదాటకు do not transgress my command. వాని అడుగుల జాడ పట్టుకొని పోయినారు they traced his footsteps and followed him. అడుగడుగున or అడుగడుగునకు step by step, now and then, often. అన్నము అడుగంటినది the rice has burnt at the bottom of the pot.

(p. 172) uvvu uvvu. [Tel.] n. Attempt, exertion, effort. పూనిక, ఉవ్వెత్తు uvv-eṭṭu. adj. All యావతు. 'ఒకల్క మాత్రలోని నువ్వెత్తు గొనరె' M. v. 30. ఉవ్వెత్తుగా uvvettu-gā. Quite easily. All at once. మిక్కిలి చులకనగా, ఏకకాలమందు. Completely. నిశ్శేషముగా. From the bottom అడుగుతో. 'మైమత్తిలి మిమ్మెరుంగక సమస్తరిపుప్రకరంబు వచ్చియువ్వెత్తుగ గూలెపా పమతులెయ్యెడలన్ జయమంద నేర్తురే.' (p. 754) piḍugu or పిడ్గు piḍugu. [Tel. from పడు.] n. A thunderbolt. అడుగుతప్పినతప్పు పిడుగు వేమా the thunderbolt shall fall innocuous at the foot. 'బొంకులపిడుగులు' thundering liars. Charitr. ii. 1549. కల్లలాడుటకు పిడుగుకైదువు piḍugu-kaiduvu. n. A thunderbolt. వజ్రాయుధము.

(p. 922) bhikṣa or భిక్షము bhiksha. [Skt.] n. Alms, బిచ్చము. Hire, wages, కూలి. A boon, a great favour. దీన్నిభిక్షణముగా అడుగుతున్నాను I entreat this as a boon or particular favour. పతిభిక్ష entreaty for the restoration of a husband. BD. iv. 1347. వాడు పెట్టినది భిక్షగానున్నది his pleasure is law, he is all powerful. భవతీ భిక్షాందేహి give me an alms. భిక్షకుడు bhikshakuḍu. (corruption of భిక్షకుడు.) n. A beggar. భిక్షించు bhikshinṭsu. v. n. &a. To beg, take alms. 'సరసిజభవుజడల్ జన్నిదంబులుగ, బరగభీక్షించిన బ్రాహ్మణుండతడు.' BD. iv. 112.
