(p. 200) ēmi or ఏమీ ēmi. [Tel.] pron. What. నాదగ్గిర యేమిన్ని లేదు. I have nothing with me. వాడు ఏమయినాడు what has become of him? ఇంక చేయవలసినది మరి యేమి లేదు nothing further remains to be done. ఏమైనా ఉండును there may be something. నేనిక్కడ ఉండడమువల్ల ఫలమేమి what is the good of my staying here? సోమ్ము ఏమిన్ని పోలేదు nothing has been lost. ఏమికతంబున (i.e. ఎందునిమిత్తము) for what reason. వాడేమి నేనేమి అంతా ఒక్కటే either he or I, there is no difference. వచ్చినాడా యేమి has he come? నా తండ్రియేమి నేనేమి both my father and I, my father as well as I. ఎవ్వడైనానేమి no matter who it is. అదియేమి యిదియేమి either this or that. ఆ యిల్లు మీకు చాలకయేమి what do you mean by saying the house is too small for you? వాడు రాకయేమి why should he not come? surely, he will? ఏమివచ్చినావు what have you come for? కుక్క యేమి మొరుగుచున్నది how the dog barks! వాడు ఏమిన్ని యేడవలేదు he did not weep at all. ఏమిటి ēmiṭi. pron. & adj. What, of which, what kind of. అదేమిటి what's that? ఏమిటో I don't know what that is వాడు ఏమిటివాడు of what caste is he? ఏమిటికి wherefore, for what reason. ఏమిటికో I know not why. ఏమిన్ని anything whatever. ఏమిన్ని యివ్వడు he will give nothing. ఏమొ or ఏమో ēmo. (ఏమి with ō added for doubt.) I know not what. రాలేదేమో perhaps they did not come.

(p. 286) kīlu kīlu. [Tel.] n. A joint, a hinge. అదేమర. Pitch (or tar.) తారు. The point of a riddle మర్మము. Expedient ఉపాయము. చేతికీళ్లు the joints of the hand. ఓడకీలు (Vēma. 628.) Rosin and grease melted together to paint ships with. కీలుచాప a tarpaulin. కీలుగోపురము (Radha. ii. 149.) a castle or chamber that turns on a pivot. కీలు గరుత్మంతుడు an automaton eagle., కీలుకాడు an engineer, a mechanician or contriver సూత్రధారి. 'కీలుగాడెడలింప గెడసిన బొమ్మల కైనడి తురంగన్రజంబు' M. VII. iii. 72. కీలుకత్తి a folding knife or hasp-knife. కీలుకొను or కీలుపడు kīlu-konu. v. n. To be united, join, be composed. కూడుకొను, తగులు. To be fixed in నాటు. 'కెంపుచెక్కడంపుసని కీల్కొనుబంగరుపావలెక్కి' Radha. iii. 13. 'కేవల పాపకర్మములగీల్కొనియున్న నిశాటకోటికిన్.' V. P. ii. 304. కీలుకొలుపు or కీలుపరుచు kīlu-kolupu. v. a. To fasten, unite, to lay, put. కీలుగంటు kīlu-ganṭu. n. A knot or crest of hair. వెండ్రుకలదూముడి. కీల్౛డ kīl-zaḍa. n. A woman's plaited tress of hair.

(p. 349) gaganamu gaganamu. [Skt.] n. The sky. firmament, the ether. The empyrean. adj. Impossible, puzzling. దుర్లభము. అదేమిగగనము what great marvel is this? గగనకుసుమము lit. 'the sky blossom' a phrase for 'nothing,' as milk from a stone. గగనప్రయత్నము an impossible or overwhelmingly great undertaking. గగనరత్నము the gem of heaven, i.e., the sun. 'సీ గగనఘంటాపధక్రమణశీలు నకెంతగగనమయ్యెల తాంగికామచేదలు' వసు. iii.

(p. 557) tokku or త్రొక్కు tokku. [Tel.] v. n. & a. To step, tread, or perform a dance, అణగదొక్కుట (A. ii. 104.) to pound, stamp, trample on, crush, macerate. పొరుగిల్లుతొక్కక not entering your neighbour's house. పొలిమేరతొక్కు to lay down or define a boundary line by treading on it. కొమ్మతొక్కు to lay down suckers or branches from a tree. తొక్కిచూచు to go and examine in person: to inspect personally. దిగదొక్కు to blink or put out of view, to suppress. తొక్కు. n. Paste, pickle. తొక్కించు or త్రొక్కించు tok-kinṭsu. v. a. To cause to tread, &c. నాట్యము తొక్కించినారు they made him dance. చింతకాయలు తొక్కించిరి they had the tamarind pounded. తొక్కు or తొక్కుడు tokkudu. n. Treading, grinding, dancing, capering, ఇరుకాటము, సమ్మర్ధము, రాపిడి, రారాపు. R. i. 46. Plu: త్రొక్కుళ్లు. P. iii. 76. adj Threshed, pounded తొక్కిన. తొక్కుడుకమ్మి tokkuḍu-kammi. n. A threshold. దొడ్డి తొక్కుకొనిపోయినది it broke out of the fold. తొక్కుపలుకులు lisping words. బిడ్డలువచ్చీరాక అదేమాటలు. తొక్కుడుబిళ్లలు tokkuḍu-biḷḷalu. n. A certain game. తొక్కులాడు tokku-l-āḍu. v. n. To grieve, to be in trouble. తొక్కులాడుచునడుచుట to trudge on, plod, to get on with difficulty.

(p. 1031) mēlu mēlu. [Tel.] n. Good, kindness. ఉపకారము. Good fortune, prosperity, favour, happiness, క్షేమము, శుభము. Profit, advantage, లాభము. Righteousness, పుణ్యము, సుకృతము. Excellence, superiority, విశేషము. Love, మోహము. Pride, మదము. 'చదువుల మేలులేదొ.' P. iv. 119. అక్కడికి పోతే మేలు it would be better to go there. అదేమేలు so much the better. మేలెరుగు to be grateful, remember kindness. కీడుమేలు తెలిసినవాడు one who knows good and evil. 'మేలుకలిగేవాడు in time of prosperity. 'తత్సుతశతకంబుకంటె నొక సూనృత వాక్యము మేలుభూవరా.' Bhārat మేలు or మేలి adj. Upper, higher. ఉపరి, అధికము, పై. Good, better. Noble, fine, excellent, superior, శుభమైన, శ్రేష్ఠమైన. మేలుమిద్దె an upper storey. 'లోపలియంతస్తులోని మేల్మిద్దె.' Sārang. D. 113. మేలుగోడ the top wall, battlement, parapet or rail wall. మేలుముసుకు the outer cover. మేలుమాట or మేలువార్త happy news. adv. Up, above, over, మేలు or మేలుమేలు interj. Well done! excellent! better and better! జయ, జయ జయ. మేలుకట్టు mēli-kaṭṭu. n. An awning, a canopy. వితానము. 'మేలిమిమీరగా మేలుకట్టులుగట్టు, రమణీయ చీనాంబరములుగట్టి.' N. ix. 124. మేలుకమ్మిచీర mēlu-kammi-chīra. n. A cotton cloth woven with a coloured border three inches broad. మేలుచెయ్యి mēlu-cheyyi. n. Superiority. హెచ్చు, ఆధిక్యము. adj. Superior, హెచ్చైన. Pure gold. తప్త కాంచనము, అపరంజి. మేలిమి or మేలి adj. Fine, excellent. B. X. 207. మేలిల్లు mēl-illu. n. A upper storey, మేడ, సౌధము. మేలుకొను, మేల్కొను, మేలుకను, మేల్కను, మేలుకాంచు or మేల్కాంచు mēlu-konu. v. n. To awake, rise. To be aroused, stand on one's guard, be alert. నిద్రతెలియు, జాగ్రతపడు. మేలుకొలుపు mēlukolupu. v. a. To awaken. నిద్రలేపు. మేలుకొలుపులు mēlu-kolupulu. n. One who is or sets an example; a paragon of excellence, an example, ఉదాహరణము. adj. Excellent, శ్రేష్ఠము, శ్రేష్ఠుడు, శ్రేష్ఠురాలు. 'మేదినీనాధులకునెల్ల మేలుబంతిగా బ్రవర్తింపకేల, దుష్కర్మివైతి.' Vish. ii. 116. 'నిజచరిత్రంబు భావిబూభుజులకెల్ల మేలుబంతిగవసుమతియేలుచుండె.' ib. vi. 63. మేలలుమచ్చు mēlu-maṭsṭsu. n. An upper storey, చంద్రశాల. మేలుమచ్చులు a kind of game played by boys. మేలురాసి mēlu rāṣi. n. The top part of a heap of winnowed grain. తూర్పెత్తిన ధాన్యపుసోగు. మేలువాడు mēlu-vāḍu. n. A lover, విటుడు, వలపుకాడు, మంచివాడు. 'అంతరాధకుమేలు వాడైమురారి.' A. v. 56.
