(p. 1) a a. 3. [Tel.] The termination of many pure Tel. words in the fem. and neut. genders, e. g., అమ్మ, అక్క, అత్త, అప్ప, అవ్వ, దండ, కర్ర, నేల, వల, ఓడ. But of a few maseulines only; e. g., తాత, మామ, అన్న, బావ, దొర.

(p. 2) aṅkakāḍu anka-kāḍu. [Tel. Kan. అంకకాఱ.] n. One who is distinguished by a sign, గురుతుకలవాడు. The leader. One who excites quarrels. కలహప్రియుడు. 'అమరుడు కలహమున కంకకాడయి కాలు ద్రవ్య.' ఆముక్త. v. 84.

(p. 2) aṅkamma ankamma. [Tel. n. అంకు+అమ్మ.] A village goddess, usually worshipped by the Panchamas. అంకచండాలము a filthy mass.

(p. 3) aṅkuritamu ankuritamu. [Skt.] a. Sprouted, emanated, arisen. మొలిచిన, ఉద్భవించిన, అంకురితస్మితము. అముక్త. iv. 35.

(p. 5) aṅgamu angamu. [Skt.] n. The body, a limb, member, part, division or branch. అంగవంచకము = ఉపాయము, సహాయము, దేశకాలవిభజనము, ఆపదకు ప్రతిక్రియ, కార్యసిద్ధి. అద్భుతాంగులు beings having wondrous forms. అష్టాంగములు = the eight forms or stages of meditation, i. e, యమము, నియమము, ప్రాణాయామము, ప్రత్యాహారము, ధ్యానము, ధారణ, మననము, సమాధి. చతురంగములు the four divisions of an army, i. e., రథములు, ఏనుగులు, గుర్రములు, బంటులు. పంచాంగము the Indian calendar giving particulars of each day, as తిథి, వారము, నక్షత్రము, యోగము, కరణము. రాజ్యాంగములు the various departments of Government. షడంగములు or వేదాంగములు the six sciences dependent on the Vedas. i. e., శిక్ష, కల్పము, వ్యాకరణము, నిరుక్తము, జ్యోతిషము, ఛందస్సు. సప్తాంగములు = the seven constituents of a Government. స్వామి, అమాత్యుడు, సుహృత్తు, కోశము, రాష్ట్రము, దుర్గము, బలము. సాష్టాంగ ప్రణామము prostrate homage, touching the ground with eight members of the body, i. e., eyes or chest and forehead, hands, knees and feet.

(p. 15) andhassu andhassu. [Skt.] n. Food, boiled rice, అన్నము అమృతాంధసులు nectar-eaters, immortals.

(p. 15) ampa ampa [Genitive singular of అమ్ము an arrow] బాణము. See. అంపకోల.

(p. 16) ampakāḍu ampakāḍu. [Tel. from అమ్ము.] n. One who carries an arrow విల్లుచేతబట్టిన వాడు, ధానుష్కుడు. A marks man, a skilful archer. గురితప్పక అమ్మువేయువాడు, కృతహస్తుడు. 'హదనువచ్చుదాకనపరాధిపైరోష 'మాగిహదనుగన్నడనపవలయు లక్ష్యసిద్ధిదాకలావునశరమాగి కాడవిడుచునంపకాడుపోలె.' Amuk. iv.

(p. 16) ampara ampara. [Tel. అమ్ము+పర] n. plu. Arrows. అమ్ములు, శరసమూహము. అంపరచిచ్చు అనగా, బాణాగ్ని.

(p. 17) ambu or అమ్ము ambu. [Skt.] n. An arrow, a dart. బాణము. అంబువేసినట్టు adv. exactly; hitting the mark precisely: straight as an arrow. అంబులపొది ambula-podi. [Tel.] n. A quiver of arrows. తూణీరము.

(p. 19) akka akka. [Tel. a Dravidian word borrowed by Sanskrit, where it is used in the sense of mother. cf. Lat. acca] n. An elder sister. అక్కచెల్లెళ్లు elder and younger sisters. పెద్దక్క the eldest sister. Any woman older than oneself is usually styled అక్క elder sister, or అమ్మ mother, madam: and any man older than onself is usually styled అస్న elder brother, or, అయ్య father, sir. పంటలక్క a cook or kitchen maid. (p. 26) aggu aggu. [Tel.] v. n. To be contained. అమరుట. 'మొనలుపైపెలకగ్గిన కుచద్వయముతో' Lāvanya 35.

(p. 1396) anubhuktamu anu-bhuktamu. [Skt.] adj. Enjoyed. అమభవింబడిన.

(p. 57) anumu anumu. [Tel.] n. Fitness. Beauty ఒప్పు. 'అమ్మానేనిన్నేలిన యమ్ముద్దియగానుబుడమిననుముదలిర్పన్ ద్రిమ్మరు యయాతియుడిగపు గొమ్మన్.' య. v.

(p. 64) apāramu a-pāramu. [Skt.] adj. Shoreless, boundless, infinite, excessive, abundant. అమితమైన, విస్తారమైన. అపారపారము the shoreless waters, the ocean. అపారముగా adv. Profusely, abundantly. విస్తారముగా.
