(p. 1) a a. 3. [Tel.] The termination of many pure Tel. words in the fem. and neut. genders, e. g., అమ్మ, అక్క, అత్త, అప్ప, అవ్వ, దండ, కర్ర, నేల, వల, ఓడ. But of a few maseulines only; e. g., తాత, మామ, అన్న, బావ, దొర.

(p. 2) aṅkamma ankamma. [Tel. n. అంకు+అమ్మ.] A village goddess, usually worshipped by the Panchamas. అంకచండాలము a filthy mass.

(p. 15) ampa ampa [Genitive singular of అమ్ము an arrow] బాణము. See. అంపకోల.

(p. 16) ampakāḍu ampakāḍu. [Tel. from అమ్ము.] n. One who carries an arrow విల్లుచేతబట్టిన వాడు, ధానుష్కుడు. A marks man, a skilful archer. గురితప్పక అమ్మువేయువాడు, కృతహస్తుడు. 'హదనువచ్చుదాకనపరాధిపైరోష 'మాగిహదనుగన్నడనపవలయు లక్ష్యసిద్ధిదాకలావునశరమాగి కాడవిడుచునంపకాడుపోలె.' Amuk. iv.

(p. 16) ampara ampara. [Tel. అమ్ము+పర] n. plu. Arrows. అమ్ములు, శరసమూహము. అంపరచిచ్చు అనగా, బాణాగ్ని.

(p. 17) ambu or అమ్ము ambu. [Skt.] n. An arrow, a dart. బాణము. అంబువేసినట్టు adv. exactly; hitting the mark precisely: straight as an arrow. అంబులపొది ambula-podi. [Tel.] n. A quiver of arrows. తూణీరము.

(p. 19) akka akka. [Tel. a Dravidian word borrowed by Sanskrit, where it is used in the sense of mother. cf. Lat. acca] n. An elder sister. అక్కచెల్లెళ్లు elder and younger sisters. పెద్దక్క the eldest sister. Any woman older than oneself is usually styled అక్క elder sister, or అమ్మ mother, madam: and any man older than onself is usually styled అస్న elder brother, or, అయ్య father, sir. పంటలక్క a cook or kitchen maid. (p. 57) anumu anumu. [Tel.] n. Fitness. Beauty ఒప్పు. 'అమ్మానేనిన్నేలిన యమ్ముద్దియగానుబుడమిననుముదలిర్పన్ ద్రిమ్మరు యయాతియుడిగపు గొమ్మన్.' య. v.

(p. 73) ama ama. [Tel.] n. Mother. తల్లి. Another form of అమ్మ.

(p. 75) amma amma. [Tel. cf. Aryan root 'Ma.'] n. Mother. తల్లి. Madam. అమ్మక్కచెల్ల, అమ్మచెల్ల alas! ah! oho! అమ్మణ్ని, అమ్మద్యు or అమ్మా or అమ్మల్ల interj. My dear, my love. అమ్మవారు amma-vāru. goddess. The small pox. బ్రాహ్మణస్త్రీ, పోలేరు, మశూచికము. ఆ సత్రములో వుండే అమ్మవారిని పిలువు call the Brahmin woman who is in the lodge. అమ్మవారికి పొంగలి పెట్టినారు they offered a sacrifice to the village goddess. వానికి అమ్మవారు పోసినది he has got the small pox. అమ్మవారి చుక్కలు, అమ్మ చుక్కలు pock marks. అమ్మవారి చుక్కలగల or అమ్మచుక్కలుగల pitted with the small pox. అమ్మవారు పోయించు to inoculate. అమ్మవారిధూము an outbreak of cholera. అమ్మాయి ammāyi. [Tel.] n. A little girl. పడుచు అమ్మి or అమ్మాళు n. Missy, my dear, my love.

(p. 75) ammanabōṇṭlu ammana-bōnṭlu. [Tel.] n. Plu Cunning jades. దొంగతొత్తులు. 'బంకెతల్ రంకెతల్ పచ్చిరక్కెసలు, రొమ్మునకుంపట్లు రోత ప్రామిళ్లు, బ్రమ్మెతకత్తెలు నమ్మనబోంట్లు.' Charitra P. 460 line 7.

(p. 76) ammanalu or అమ్మనములు ammanalu. [Tel.] n. A game wherein a number of balls are thrown into the air, one being caught in the hand descending whilst others are rising: అణంగులు గుండ్లను ఎగరవేసి ఆడే ఆట. 'గుజగుజరేకులు గుజ్జనగూళ్లను బొమ్మలపెండ్లిండ్లు నమ్మములు.' N. ix. 101.

(p. 76) ammu ammu [Tel.] v. a. To sell. విక్రయించు. అమ్మించు (causal of అమ్ము v. n. To sell.) To have a thing sold, get it disposed of. విక్రయింపజేయు. అమ్మకము ammakamu. [Tel.] n. Sale, selling, vending. విక్రయము. అమ్ముడు ammuḍu. adj. and n. Saleable, that which is to be sold. విక్రయింపదగినవిగానుండే. అమ్ముడుసరుకులు goods which are to be sold. అని యింకా అమ్ముడుపోలేదు they are not yet sold. అమ్ముడు పోవు v. i. To be sold. వెలకుపోవు.
