The water plant called Nymphœa alba. అల్లికాడ is peduncle or flower stalk. అల్లిపువ్వు the flower of this water plant. ఉత్పలభేదము. ఆకాశపు అల్లి Menyanthes cristata, a water plant. అల్లి Nymphœa Lotus, a variety with a red flower. Rox. ii. 260, says. 'అల్లి is Memecylon Edule: a wild shrub, like broom, with beautiful fragrant flowers in bunches.' దాని ఒళ్లు అల్లికాడవలెనున్నది her body is like the stem of a water lily, she is very chilly. అల్లిరాగులు the fruit of the blue lotus.

(p. 91) alliñcu allinṭsu. [Tel.] (causal of అల్లు) To get it plaited or braided. అల్లేటట్టు చేయు. See అల్లు. అల్లిక allika. [Tel. from అల్లు) n. A twist, a plait, a braid, a netting.

(p. 91) alliceṭṭu alli-cheṭṭu. [Tel.] n. A kind of wild shrub, with beautiful and fragrant lilac flowers in bunches. ఒక అడవిచెట్టు అల్లికర్ర the wood of this plant. అల్లి బియ్యము the seed of this plant.

(p. 91) allitemmara or అల్లితెమ్మెర alli-temmara. [Tel.] n. A cool breeze. చల్లని గాలి.

(p. 91) allibilli alli-billi. [Tel.] n. Twisting, twining. పెనకువ. 'మావుల్ క్రోవులునల్లిబిల్లి గొను కాంతారంబునన్.' Swa. ii. 25.

To plait, braid, weave, wattle rods or twigs, &c., together. గంపలల్లు to weave baskets. చాపలల్లుతాడు he plaits mats. పద్యములల్లు to compose verses. అబద్ధాలల్లు to fabricate lies. తీగెలు చెట్టు మీదికి అల్లినవి the creepers have crept over the tree. కసవు అల్లిన భూమి land overgrown with grass. n. అల్లిక (q.v.)

(p. 898) bettamu bettamu. form [Skt. వేత్రము.] n. A cane, a rattan. Calamus fasciculatus. Rox. iii. 779. పేము. కుర్చీకి బెత్తము అల్లించు to rattan a chair: i.e., to plait thin strips of rattan so as to form a seat. బెత్తాలచాప bettāla-ṭsāpa. n. A rattan mat.
