A weapon, a sword, a missile. ఆయుధము, బాణము, కత్తి కటారి మొదలైనవి. ఆగ్నేయాస్త్రము a fiery weapon, a weapon having the power of fire. నాగాస్త్రము a serpent weapon, having a serpent's power. అస్తకారుడు a maker of weapons. అస్త్రవిద్య military science. అస్త్రవృష్టి a shower of arrows. అస్త్రశిక్ష military excercise. అస్త్రాగారము an arsenal, an armoury. అస్త్రి astri. n. A bowman. విలుకాడు. అస్త్రజీవి astrajivi. n. A soldier. బంటు, సైనికుడు.

(p. 425) cūtamu chūtamu. [Skt.] n. A mango tree. చూతాస్త్రుడు. n. Manmadha: because his arrows (అస్త్రములు) are mango-blossoms.

(p. 1219) vēḍabamu vēḍabamu. [from Skt. విడంబనం] n. Curiosity, wonder, amusement. వింత, వేడుక, చోద్యము. A trick, trickery, deceit, మాయ, వంచన. A mask, వేషము. 'విలయకాలమందు విశ్వంబునీపెద్ద, కడుపులోన దాచుకడిదిమేటి, నటుడవవీవునేడు నాగర్భజుడవవుట పరమపురుష వేడబంబుగాదె.' (B. x. iii. 27.) 'అస్త్రంబుధరియిమచచుట, తపస్వియునట యిట్టివేడబము లెయ్యెడగలవే.' Kasi. (p. 1286) saṃstambhanamu sam-stambhanamu. [Skt.] n. The name of a magic arrow which arrests the progress of an enemy. శత్రువును మ్రాన్పరచే అస్త్రవిశేషము. T. v. 113. సంస్తంభించు sam-stambh-inṭsu. v. a. To make firm or rigid. స్థాపించు. సిద్ధముచేయు. KP. iii. 251.

(p. 1296) sanyasiñcu sangasinṭsu. v. a. To renounce the passions or the world. కామ్యకర్మములను విడుచు. To take the vows of an ascetic, to become a monk. To bid farewell to the world, ఆశ్రమస్వీకారముచేయు, కాషాయములు ధరించు. సన్యాసము sanyāsamu. n. The ascetic state or condition, monachism, asceticism, Abandonment, relinquishment. ఆశ్రమస్వీకారము, చాలించుకొనడము, మానుకొనడము. అస్త్రసన్యాసము laying aside weapons, renouncing the use of arms. Vaija. ii. 134. సన్యాసి sanyāsi. n. A monk, ascetic, hermit. సన్యసించినవాడు.
