(p. 108) āku āku. [Tel.] n. A leaf of any sort. A petal. పత్రము, దళము. A betel, or palmyra leaf; also the leaf on which the Hindus eat their food. విస్తరాకు An ear-ring. చెవి కమ్మ. Young rice (paddy) not yet transplanted. Any herb: young sprouts of corn. A flake as ఆకు ఉప్పు a flake of salt. Any filament. The radius or spoke of a wheel. The shutter of a blind. ఆకులతలుపు a venetian door. Also, a chit, note or short letter. చీటి; a loan bond. ఇచ్చిపుచ్చుకోలు పత్రము. This word prefixed to others generally denotes green; as ఆకుతేలు a green scorpion, and ఆకుమిడత a green cricket. ఆడంగులకంటె మగవారు ఏడాకులు ఎక్కువ చదివినారు men have read seven pages further than women; that is, men are tenfold worse than women; or, are their masters in wickedness. నీ పేరు ఆకునపోకన అంటకుండా చెప్పుతాను. I shall mention (or use) your name with great caution. ఆకు అలము āku-alamu. n. Greens, herbs, vegetables. (The word అలము here has no definite sense.) ఆకుకూరలు or కూరాకులు āku-kūralu. n. Potherbs, garden stuff. ఆకు చాటున āku-ṭsāṭana. adj. In ambush, hidden, veiled, screened. ఆకుచిరుతపులి āku-chiruta-puli. n. A small species of leopard. ఆకుచిలక āku-chilaka. n. A butterfly, or a green parrot. ఆకుజెముడు āku-jemuḍu. n. The oleander-leaved spurge. Emphorbia Neriifolia. (See జెముడు.) ఆకుటిల్లు āku-ṭillu. n. A booth or hut of leaves, an arbor of leaves. ఆకుటింట in a booth. ఆకుతీగ the vine that produces the tamala (or betel) leaf. ఆకు తోట a betel garden: a garden in which plants are reared. ఆకుపచ్చ āku-paṭṭsa. n. The colour called sap green. ఆకుపత్రి చెట్టు āku-pattri-cheṭṭu. n. The clove tree. Cassia lignea. a certain game. (H. iii. 190). āka-rarugu. n. A green caterpillar. ఆకుపోత āku-pōta. n. Transplantation of a green crop. ఆకుపోయు āku-pōyu. v. a. To transplant corn. To set the sprouts. ఆకుమడి āku-maḍi. n. A field sown, but the sprouts of which are to be transplanted. (also, called నారుమడి.) ఆకుమడుపు āku-maḍupu. n. A roll of betel leaf. A mode of measurement. ఆకు మొలకాకు The self planting herb. ఆకురాయి āku-rāyi. n. A file (i.e., ఆకు a filament రాయు to rub off.) Also the name of a bird, the cuckoo (F.B.I.) బలుపాకురాయి or ముల్లాకురాయి (from ముల్లు a thorn) a rasp. కత్తి ఆకురాయి a sharp thin file for cutting combs. కమ్మి ఆకురాయి a very small file. వట్రనాకురాయి a three sided file.

(p. 416) cinna chinna. [Tel.] adj. Small, little, short, young, mean, trifling, insignificant, narrow: disgraceful. ముఖము చిన్నచేసుకొను to be ashamed, to be downcast or sorrowful. Junior, Younger, smaller. చిన్నచూపు humiliation, scorn. దేవుడు చిన్నచూపుచూస్తే యెవరేమి చేయవచ్చును when God withdraws his favour what can man do? చిన్న ఆకురాయి chinna-ākurāyi. n. The Blackheaded Cuckoo-Shrike, Campophaga sykesi. (F.B.I.) చిన్నకారు chinna-kāru. n. Childhood, youth. చిన్నకారుపిల్లలు young children. చిన్నతనము chinna-tanamu. n. Infancy: littleness, smallness. Disgrace, dishonor. ఇందువల్ల కులమునకంతా చిన్నతనము వచ్చినది this is a disgrace to the whole caste. చిన్నది chinnadi. n. A little one. A girl, a lass. ఈ చిన్నది అతనిభార్య this girl is his wife. పెద్ద చిన్నది the eldest daughter; or, a grown girl.

(p. 703) patramu patramu. [Skt.] n. A leaf of a tree, or of a book. ఆకు. A written bond, వ్యవహారపు చెల్లుబడికి వ్రాసిన కాగితము. A vehicle in general, as a car, a horse, a camel, &c. వాహనము. The wing of a bird, రెక్క. An arrow, బాణము. పత్రపరశువు patra-paraṣuvu. n. A file. ఆకురాయి పత్రపాశ్య patra-pāṣya. n. An ornament for the forehead; a sort of tiara. చేరుచుక్కబొట్టు, పాపటబొట్టు. పత్రరధము patra-radhamu. n. Lit: Wing-borne, i.e., a bird. పత్రార్థము patr-ārthamu. n. The value of a bond, that is, the property or money which it deals with. పత్రి patri. n. A bird. పక్షి.

(p. 871) baliyu baliyu. [from Skt. బలము.] v. n. To become corpulent, or strong, to grow fat, big, thick, stable, firm: స్థూలించు. To increase, thrive, prosper, multiply or be augmented, అధికమగు. అరణ్యము. బలిసిపోయినది the forest spread over the place. అడవిబలిసినచోటు a spot overgrown with shrubs. బలియుడు baliyuḍu. n. A strong man, బలవంతుడు. బలిపించు balipinṭsu. v. a. To fatten or strengthen. బలిమి or బల్మి balimi. n. Strength, power. దేహబలము. Force, బలాత్కారము. బలిమికాడు balimi-kāḍu. n. A strong man, బలవంతుడు. బలిష్ఠము balishṭhamu. [Skt.] adj. Very strong, most powerful, మిక్కిలిబలముగల. బలిష్ఠుడు balishṭhuḍu. n. A very strong man. బలిసిన balisina. [Tel.] adj. Big, plump, large. బలీయము balīyamu. [Skt.] adj. Very strong, exceedingly powerful. బలీవర్దము balīvardamu. n. A bull, or ox. ఎద్దు. బలుడు baludu. n. A strong man: one who is powerful. బలముగలవాడు. బలుపు or బల్పు balupu. [Tel.] n. Bigness, fatness, plumpness. strength, పుష్టి, బలము. Well being, క్షేమము. 'అనీకమునంగడు మంచియోధలంగలయగ నొందునయ్య యిప్రకెరము వారల నిల్ప బల్పగున్' M. XII. iii. 9. బలుపుకొను or బల్పుకొను balupu-konu. v. n. To increase, prosper, అతిశయించు. బలుపాకురాయి balup-ākurāyi. (బలుపు+ఆకురాయి) n. A carpenter's rasp.

(p. 1011) mullu mullu. [Tel.] n. A thorn, a spur, a prickle. A fish bone, a spine. The tongue of a balance. A small needle or pin, as the hand of a watch or clock. ముల్లిడు to plant thorns. A. iv. 265. ముల్లిడి setting up a hedge. చుట్టూకంపవేసి. ముండ్లుపోయిన గడియారము a clock that has lost its hands. ముల్లాడించు mull-āḍinṭsu. v. a. To chip (stone with a chisel.) To chisel. వడ్లముండ్లు the beards of grain. ముంటికత్తి a sharp instrument to extract thorns with. ముండ్లపంది a porcupine. ముండ్లబంతి or ములుబంతి a cluster of prickers used by thieves. 'కత్తెరనిసుము నక్షతలు ముండ్లబంతియు నీలికచ్చడమును.' BD. v. 676. ముల్లుచూపు or ములుచూపు mullu-ṭsūpu. v. n. To excel, అతిశయించు. To turn the balance, i.e., be superior. ముల్లాకురాయి mull-āku-rāyi. (ముల్లు + ఆకురాయి.) n. A rough file. ముల్లుచిత, ములుచిత or ముండ్లమునై mull-uchita. n. The name of a thorny plant. whose leaves are eaten. ఒకవిధమైన కూరాకు.

(p. 1074) rāpiḍi , రాపు or రాయిడి rāp-iḍi. [Tel. from రాచు.] n. Rubbing, filing, friction. Collision. Plague, torment. ఒరయిక, రాయిడి, వేధ, ఉపద్రవము. రారాపిడి (రాపిడి + రాపిడి) or రారాపు (రాపు + రాపు) rā-rāpiḍi. n. Great friction or rubbing, మిక్కిలి ఒరయిక. Great annoyance, వేధ. రాపుడు rāpuḍu. n. Friction, rubbing. రాచుట. రాపుడురాయి a stone used to polish the surfaces of walls, &c. రాపొడి rā-poḍi. n. Fillings, the dust of any metal producced by filing. ఆకురాయితో రాయగా పడే రజము.
