(p. 3) aṅkiñcu ankinṭsu. [Tel.] v. t. & i. 1. To raise, take up, lift up. భుజములంకించు shrug the shoulders. 2. To move about, to brandish, ఆడించు, ౛ళిపించు. 'కరవాలంబంకించి యంగదుభజాంతరంబు బిట్టు వ్రేసి.' ద్వి.రా. 3. To turn to one side త్రిప్పు. 'నమ్మెగమంకించి.' విర్వ. ఊ: viii. 4. To hold, పట్టుకొను. (p. 38) aḍḍamu or అడ్డమైన aḍḍamu. [Tel.] adj. Cross. నన్ను అడ్డమైన మాటలు ఆడినాడు he reviled me. అడ్డమైనకూళ్లు any food that comes to the hand. నాకు అడ్డమైనపని పెట్టుతున్నాడు he employs me in anything that comes to hand. వాడు అడ్డదోవలు తొక్కుచున్నాడు he goes the wrong way to work. అడ్డకట్ట aḍḍa-kaṭṭa. [Tel.] n. A dam or bank, an embankment. సేతువు, చేలకు నీళ్లు నిలిచేటందుకు కట్టిన గట్టు. అడ్డకత్తి aḍḍakatti. A broad sword. పట్టిసము. అడ్డకమ్మి aḍḍa-kammi. A cross piece, the cross selvage in cloth. అడ్డకర్ర aḍḍa-karra. A cross-piece of timber: an obstacle: a bar. విఘూతము. నా పనికి అడ్డకర్రలు వేయుచున్నాడు he throws difficulties in my way. See అడ్డము. అడ్డగోడ addagōḍa a cross-wall. అడ్డచాపు aḍḍa-tṣāpu. A cross beam. అడ్డవాసము. అడ్డతల aḍḍa-tala. A narrow projecting head: having a narrow fore head. నిడుపు తల. అడ్డదూలము aḍḍa-dūlamu. A cross beam. అడ్డదోవ aḍḍa-dōva. A crossway. అడ్డపలక aḍḍa-palaka. A cross plank. అడ్డపట్టె. aḍḍa-paṭṭe. A thick board drawn by two oxen used for smoothing a ploughed field after the grain is sown. మడిసమముచేసే మాను. అడ్డుపడు aḍḍa-paḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To interpose, to help; to obstruct, impede. విఘూతమగు, వారించు. నా పనికి అడ్డుపడ్డాడు he threw obstacles in my way. భార్యను కొట్టబోతే కొడుకు అడ్డుపడినాడు as he was going to strike his wife his son interposed. నేనడ్డపడకపోతే వాండ్లు వత్తురు had I not interposed they would have died. అడ్డపాటు aḍḍa-pāṭu. [Tel.] n. Obstacle, hindrance, obstruction. అడ్డి, విఘ్నము. అడ్డబాస aḍḍa-bāsa. n. A nose jewel. బులాకి. అడ్డబొట్టు aḍḍa-boṭṭu. A cross mark worn by the Hindus on their fore-head. అడ్డమాను aḍḍa-mānu. A cross bar. వాడు అడ్డవాట్లు వేస్తున్నాడు he throws impediments in the way.

(p. 57) anulāpamu anu-lāpamu. [Skt.] n. Repetition. ఆడినమాటే అడడము, పునరుక్తి. అనులాపించు v. a. To repeat the same words. చెప్పిన మాటలనే మళ్లీ చెప్పుట.

(p. 90) allāḍu or అల్లలాడు allāḍu. [Tel. అల్ల+ఆడు] v. n. To shake, move, wave, toss about, to wander about, to be in distress. ఆడు, గాలికి కొట్టుకొను, తిరుగు, సంచరించు, కడగండ్లబడు. 'ధరాచక్రమల్లాడె.' N. iv. 288. ధ్వజపటము గాలికి అల్లాడుచున్నది the flag flutters in the wind. కూటి అల్లాడుతాడు he is in want of bread. కొలువుకు అల్లాడుతాడు he is in trouble for want of employment. అల్లాటము allāṭamu [Tel.] n. A to-andfro movement, wandering about. అల్లారుదు or అల్లార్చు allāruṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To shake, move, vibrate, agitate, wag, wave. ఆడించు, విసురు. 'ఘనవాలమల్లార్చు.' N. i. 144. అల్లారుముద్దు allāru-muddu. [Tel. అల్ల+ఆరు+ముద్దు.] Prettiness, agreeableness, sweetness. జనసమ్మతి, అతిప్రేమాస్పదము. అల్లారుముద్దుగా ad. Prettily, agreeably, sweetly, pleasantly. జనసమ్మతిగా, అందరికి సంతోషముగా, ముచ్చటగా. 'పడుచుదనమున వేడుకపడుచున్నాడు ముద్దరాండ్రకు నల్లారు ముద్దుగాను.' N. ix. 102.

(p. 111) āḍiñcu āḍinṭsu. [Tel. causative of ఆడు] v. a. To cause to move or play to amuse.

(p. 111) āḍika āḍika. [Tel.] n. Rumour, talk, scandal, infamy. రచ్చ, నింద, రట్టు. ఆడికపడు āḍika-paḍu. v. n. To be blamed ఆడికోలు āḍi-kōlu. [Tel.] n. Scandal. నింద, ఆడిపోసికొనుట. ఆడికోళ్లు āḍikōḷḷu. Revilings, abusive words. H. v. 304. P. ii. 38.

(p. 111) āḍitappu āḍi-tappu. [Tel.] v. n. To break one's word ఆడితప్పనివాడు one who keeps his word. A man of his word.

(p. 111) āḍipōsikonu āḍi-pōsikonu. [Tel.] v. n. To scandalize, vilify. నిందించు.

(p. 112) āḍu āḍu. [Tel.] v. n. 1. To play, dance, work, act, do, move, ply. కాళ్లు ఆడకనిలిచె he stood stock-still, his feet did not stir. 2. To shake, totter, wag. 3. To beat, as the pulse. ధాతువు ఆడుచున్నది the pulse beats. 4. To speak, say. ఇట్లు కొందరు ఆడగా while some spoke thus. ఆడినది ఒకటి చేసినది ఒకటి he said one thing and did another. పోనాడు to cry Avaunt.! మున్నాడు to advance or come forward. ఆ పేరు నోట్లో ఆడుచున్నది I have the name at the tip of my tongue.

(p. 116) ānu ānu. [Tel.] v. a. To press on, put on. అణచు, ధరించు. To drink. తేంట్లు మద్యములానును the bess drink honey. పాలిండ్లన్ విషమాని putting poison on her nipples. చేతులచెవులాని putting his hands to his ears. అనిక āninṭsu. v. a. To cause to rest on. ఆనిక ānika. n. A support, strength. అనుకర్ర ānu-karra. n. A prop. ఊతకోల. అనుకొను ānu-konu. v. a. To lean against or on. To border on, be contiguous to. ఆడివిని ఆనుకొన్న చేనులు lands bordering on the forest. ఓడను ఆనుకొన్న పడవలు the boats that were alongside the ship. ఆనుడు బిళ్ల ānuḍu-biḷḷa. n. A cushion to lean on, a semicircular cushion or pillow. ఒరుగుదిండు.

(p. 123) ārcu or అరచు ārṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To cry aloud, about, roar. కూయు, కేకవేయు. ఆర్చు or అరుచు v. a. To dry up, to quench, extinguish, to cool, dry, appease, allay, to heal or cure, destroy, to dry in the sun, to expose to heat, to cause to dry; to move to and fro. ఆడించు. to move the eyelid. పోకార్చు to ruin, destroy. విక్రయమార్చు to sell. BD. v. 526.

(p. 164) uppata uppata. [Tel.] n. Betraying; divulging a secret; dilating on any man's extraordinary prosperity, qualifications or beauty of any person. రద్ది, రట్టు, రన్వ, ఒకని మేలున కోర్వలేక ఆడిపోసికొనుట. అది నిండా ఉప్పతగానున్నది it is the common talk of the town. ఉప్పతకారాదు to be the talk of the town is unlucky. ఉప్పతించు uppatinṭsu. v. a. To abuse through envy. ఓర్వక ఆడిపోసికొను.

(p. 174) ūṭa ūṭa. [Tel from ఊరు] n. Juice, sap. A fountain, a spring as of water. Marrow. ఎముక ఊట. Pickling liquor. strength. బలము, చేప. ఊటకల్లు ūṭa-kallu. n. A grain like అళ్లు. ఊటగుండు ūṭā-guṇḍu. n. The stone to which a weaver fastens the cross sticks on which he stretches his web. ఊటనీరు ūṭa-nīru. n. A gushing spring. ఊటపుట్టు. ūṭa-puṭṭu. v. n. To spring (as water.) ఊటబుడ్డిచెక్క ūṭa-buḍḍi-chekka. n. Wood that is strong and durable for building purposes. ఊటయెత్తు ūṭa-yettu. v. n. To be damp. ఊట యెత్తిన damp, moist. ఆ చెట్లు ఊట యెత్తిపోయినవి these trees have been injured by excessive moisture. ఊటయెత్తిన యిల్లు a damp house. ఊటగల heavy, abounding springs. సత్తువగల, బరువైన. ఊటగలకర్ర a heavy piece of wood. ఊటాడు ūṭāḍu. (ఊట+ఆడు) v. n. To shake, totter, waver, be agitated. చలించు, సంభ్రమించు. ఊటాడించు. (Vasu. iv. 159.) to shake కదల్చు, ఆడించు, అల్లలాడించు.

(p. 189) enni enni. [Tel. from ఎంత] adj. How many. ఎన్ని నీళ్లు how much water. ఎవ్వరెన్ని ఆడినను whatever any body says. ఎన్నియేని many అనేకము. ఎన్నిట in how many (things.)

(p. 351) gaḍa gaḍa. [Tel.] n. A stick, staff, pole. నిడుపుకోల. Bolt గడియ. A mast. ఓడకంబము (For గడ్డ) A lump or clod. A multitude సమూహము. చక్రవాకపుగడలు a flock of swans.
