(p. 37) aḍucu aḍuṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To close, to shut. మూసివేయు. అందులో నాలుగు వాకిళ్లు అడిచియున్నవి four of the gates are closed, ఆ గుడ్లను ఈ పెట్టెలో అడుచు (here అడుచు is for అణచు) cram the clothes into the box. Also, v. a. To beat, strike, thrash. To destroy కొట్టు, వళింపచేయు. 'ఎమ్ములిరియుగ శిలతో నడిచిన.' P. i. 729. అడుచుకొను aḍuṭsukonu. v. To contract, choke, be stopped. ఆ కాలవలో ఇసుక అడుచుకొన్నది the channel is choked with sand. వాని రొమ్మడుచుకొన్నది he has a contraction of the chest. గొంతు అడుచుకొన్నది, మాట్లాడకూడలేదు his throat is hoarse, he cannot speak.

(p. 103) astamayamu or అస్తమానము astamayamu. [Skt.] n. Sunset, evening. ప్రొద్దుక్రుంకడము. ఇసుక కమ్ముకొని లోకమంతా అస్తమానమైనట్టున్నది clouds of sand obscured the face of nature. అస్తమించు astamiṭsu. v. n. To set, to draw towards evening. ప్రొద్దుక్రుంకు మబ్బుకమ్ముకొని లోకము అస్తమించినట్టున్నది the world is enveloped in shade. అస్తమితము astamitamu. adj. Set, as the sun. క్రుంకిన. అస్తము astamu. [Skt.] adj. Set, cast, thrown, disappeared, lost, gone. క్రుంకిన, పోయిన, మరుగైపోయిన, అస్తబలుడు he who is exhausted. అస్తము n. An imaginary mountain in the west behind which the sun is believed to set. అస్తాచలము, అస్తాద్రి astachalamu. n. The western mountain. అస్తమయపర్వతము.

(p. 142) isuka or ఇసక isuka. [Tel.] n. Sand. బంగారు ఇసుక gold dust. ఇసుకపాతర a sand pit, confusion, a puzzle. ఇసుకదాసరి కూర isuka-dāsari-kūra. n. A certain herb. ఇసుకదిన్నె or ఇసుకదిబ్బ isuka-dinne. n. A sand bank. See తిన్నె. ఇసుకదొండు or ఇసుకదొందు isuka-doṇḍu. n. The fish called white caboose, or river whiting, dragonet: (it is somewhat cylindrical, with a thick tail.) ఇసుకపర్ర isuka-parra. A sandy waste. ఇసుకబేలు isukabēlu. A creeping plant, of great beauty. ఇసుకమాను isuka-mānu. A tree (Tapia cratoeva or capparis trifoliata) ఉలిమిడి చెట్టు, వరుణ వృక్షము.

(p. 249) karaku or కరుకు karaku. [Tel.] n. Sharpness, as of a file or a saw. Roughness, as of a cat's tongue; harshness కాఠిన్యము, వాడి. adj. Sharp, rough, harsh. కరుకుటమ్ములు sharp arrows. కరకెక్కు karak-ekku. To be rough. వాడికి కరుకెక్కించినారు they made him angry. కరకుడుమ్ము karaku-dummu. n. 'దొంగవాకిట మంచమువేసినరీతిగా' a proverb implying 'make friends for the purpose of runing one.' దొంగతనము, దొంగపని or దొంగరికము donga-tanamu. n. Theft, robbery, roguery, cunning, craft, a trick, a fraud. దొంగతనంబు లీవగలు this is mere pretence. దొంగతనముగా donga-tanamu-gā. adv. Secretly, by stealth, unawares. దొంగిలించు or దొంగిలు dongilinṭsu. v. a. To steal. అపహరించు.
