(p. 38) aḍḍamu aḍḍamu. [Tel.] n. Obstacle, hindrance, A screen. అభ్యంతరము, ఆటంకము, చటు. A pledge తాకట్టు నీ మాటకు అడ్డము లేదు no one will resist you. వాండ్లకు మాకు గోడ అడ్డముగా ఉండినది there was a wall between them and us. ఒక నగను అడ్డము పెట్టి యిరువైరూపాయలు తెచ్చినాడు he pawned a jewel and got twenty rupees. నా పనికి అడ్డము వచ్చినాడు he opposed my endeavours. మొగుణ్ని అడ్డముపెట్టుకొని తానే అన్ని పనులు చూచుకొనిపోయినది she used her husband as a screen and carried on the business. వాడు తండ్రికి అడ్డమాడుతాడు he opposes or contradicts his father. తిరుపతికి పోయేలోగా మూడేళ్లు అడ్డమువస్తవి there are three rivers to cross on the way to Tirupati. ఏదో ఒకటి వచ్చి అడ్డముపడినది something has got in the way. వానికి అడ్డము తగిలినారు they interrupted him. కొంతదూరము దోవనే పోయి అవతల అడ్డము తిరిగినాడు or అడ్డము తొక్కినాడు he went along some way and then cut across. 'కరాగ్రములు దృష్టులకడ్డమిడుచు.' BD. iv. 1532. అడ్డముగా aḍḍamu-gā. [Tel.] adv. Crosswise, across, transversely. చెట్టు కండ్లకు అడ్డముగానున్నది the tree intercepts the view, నేను అడ్డముగా నిలిస్తిని I stood in his way.

(p. 470) jñapti gnyapti. [Skt.] n. Understanding, తెలివి, తలపు. Recollection. జ్ఙాపకము. నాకు అప్పుడు జ్ఞప్తి తప్పి ఉండినది I was at that time out of my senses. అది నాకు జ్ఞప్తికి రాలేదు I did not recollect it.

In the direction of, near; the act or state of వాలుదల slanting. ఊరిదల near the town. విడుదల release. దిగుదలపొలము the lower fields. చావుదల the state of dying. కమ్ముదల concealment. మోపుదల weight, charge. తిరుగుదల turning. వ్యాధి తిరుగుదలగానున్నది the disease is on the turn. తగులుదల cost. తగులుదలవ్యయములు the sum incurred. నిలుపుదల deferring, postponement, suspension. కూడుదల help. దానివల్ల ఇంటివారికి కొంచెము కూడుదల ఉండినది. thereby they had some profit. నదికి ఎగుదల up the river. నదికి దిగుదల down the river.

(p. 583) dala dala. [Tel.] an affix. Used to convert verbs, &c., into nouns. వాలుదల slantingly. ఊరిదల near the town. (p. 846) prāpiñcu prāpinṭsu. [Skt.] v. a. To obtain, get, attain to. పొందు. ప్రాపు prāpu. n. A prop. A protection, support, a refuge; patronage; a person on whom one depends, ఆసరా, ఆశ్రయము. ఆయనప్రాపుననున్నాము we are under his protection. ప్రాప్తము praptamu. adj. Obtained, gained, acquired, received, procured, caught, as a disease, పొందబడిన. కుష్ఠు అతనికి ప్రాప్తమైనందున because he caught the leprosy. n. That which is obtained. that which falls to one's lot, luck, fortune. నాప్రాప్తమింతే this is all I can get, such is my luck. ప్రాప్తి prāpti. n. Obtaining, attaining, పొందడము. Gain, profit, లాభము. One of the eight superhuman faculties, the power of obtaining every thing one desires. అష్టైశ్వర్యములలో నొకటి. Luck, fortune. అదృష్టము. వానికి అంతే ప్రాప్తి this is all he can get. దాని ప్రాప్తి అట్లు ఉండినది such was her luck. నీకు అది ప్రాప్తిలేదు you were not fortunate enough to get it. ప్రాప్తించు prāptinṭsu. v. n. To happen or occur; to be gained, obtained, found. కలుగు, లభించు. వానికి రోగము ప్రాప్తించినది he contracted or caught a disease. ప్రాప్తుడు prāptuḍu. n. One who has attained. వారు వైకుంఠ ప్రాప్తులరి they went to Vishnu's heaven, i.e., they died. ప్రాప్యము prāpyamu. adj. Attainable, procurable, that may be got. పొందదగిన. ప్రాపకము prāpakamu. n. Protection, patronage, refuge. అవలంబము, అవష్టంభము, ఆసరా, ప్రాపకుడు prāpakuḍu. n. One who puts an object within our power or reach. ఘటకుడు. A patron, protector, guardian.

(p. 970) māṭu māṭu. [Tel.] v. n. To get entangled, తగులుకొను. 'తొడరి యడిగిననిల్లాండ్రతోడమాటు.' T, iv. 31. v. a. To conceal or hide. దాచు, మరుగుచేయు.n. Concealment, మరుగు. A remedy, విరుగుడు. An ambush, screen, covering. గురికాడుదాగే గొయ్యి. మరుగు. A menstruum in which a metal is dissolved. Time, period, occasion. తేప. Connection, తగులము. An instalment of payment. A patch of metal put on to mend a vessel, తపెలలకువేసే అతుకు. పొదల మాటున behind the bushes. మాటుకట్టు, మాటుపెట్టు or మాటుఒగ్గు māṭu-kaṭṭu. v. a. To set a trap. మాటికి māṭiki. adv. Often, every now and then, అడుగడుగునకు. మాటిమాటికి māṭī-māṭi-ki. n. Time after time, again and again, frequently. మాటుగొయ్యి māṭu-goyyi. n. A hidden pitfall. మాటుపడు māṭu-paḍu. v. n. To disappear, vanish, అగుపడక పోవు, మరుగుపడు. Also, to get entangled, to get caught, తగులుపడు. మాటుమణుగు or మాటుమడుగు māṭu-maṇugu. v. n. To be hushed, still or silent. ౛ం౛ాటము ఉడిగి నిశ్శబ్దమగు. ఊరంతా మాటుమణిగి ఉండినది the whole town was in dead silence. మాటుమణిగిన తర్వాత in the dead of the night.

(p. 985) miṇuku or మినుకు miṇuku. [Tel.] n. Glimmering, sparkling. తళుకు. మిణుకుమిణుకుమని ఒకదీపము ఉండినది there was a glimmering lamp. మిణుకు మిణుకుమన్నది it gleamed, or was just perceptible. మిణుకుచేయు to polish or burnish. మిణుకుచేసికొను to be gay in dress. మిణుకుకాటుక black eyesalve. v. n. To be bright, to glimmer. మిణుగురు Same as మిడుగురు (q. v.). Plu. మిణుగురులు or మిణుగుర్లు. మిణుగురుపురుగు or మిణుగురుబూచి miṇuguru-purugu. n. A fire fly or its larva. A glow-worn. ఖద్యోతము.

(p. 1112) lō lō. [Tel.] prep. In, within, inside of, amongst, among, of. దారిలో on the road. ఇంటిలో or ఇంట్లో in the house. వచ్చినంతలో on his coming. అంతలో or ఇంతలో in the meantime. The word must be translated to suit the verb with which it is used. Thus, బిళ్లను మెడలో వేసుకొన్నాడు he wore the badge over his shoulder. తలలో వాగా చుట్టుకొన్నాడు he rolled the turban round his head. అత్తలోనుండి విభాగము కాలేదు she is not separated from her mother-in-law's family. ఇంతరాత్రిలో so late at night. తమలోతాము మాటాడుకోలేదు they did not speak to each other. వేలిలోనుండే ఉంగరము the ring on his finger. బిడ్డ నాపక్కలో పండుకొని ఉండినది the child lay down at my side. మాలో అందరు all of us. వాడు అందరిలో మంచివాడు he is the best of them all. (See లోను and లోని.) పనిలో మాట్లాడుట to talk during work, or while at work. చెట్టులో బంకకారుతున్నది gum flows from the tree. అతడు నాచేతిలో కోసినాడు he inflicted a wound on my hand. లో lō. adj. Inner, internal, inside. Inferior, or subordinate. లోగది an inner room. లోకావు a sub-renter or under farmer. లోచెయ్యి the inner hand, i.e., the palm of the hand. లోగొను to take inside, to receive, to contain within itself, లోపల నడచుకొను. లోమనుష్యుడు a reserved or self-contained man. లోగా lō-gā. adv. Within, inside, meanwhile, in the course of, లోపల. పదిదినములకులోగా within ten days. ఈలోగా meantime. ఇది వానికి చేరే లోగా before this reaches him. యాభైయేండ్లకులోగా before he was fifty years old.
