(p. 157) udayamu udayamu. [Skt.] n. Birth. పుట్టుక. The rising of the sun or other heavenly bodies, the morning. ఉదయాన in the morning. ఉదయాద్రి udayādri. n. The eastern mountain behind which the sun is supposed to be born. ఉదయరాగము Morning carol. A particular sort of red silk. ఉదయించు udayinṭsu. v. a. To be born. To rise. To begin or originate, as a quarrel or an opinion. To arise or become celebrated. కుటిలబుద్ధి ఉదయించి crooked thoughts having arisen in the mind.

The white island, one of the sixteen divisions of the world. శ్వేతద్వీపము. A. iv. 127. తెల్లన or తెల్లని tellana. adj. White, light coloured, pale, sallow, bright. తెల్లనాకు Same as తెలనాకు. (q. v.) తెల్లనార tella-nāra. n. A kind of fish, a whiting. తెల్లనిదొర tellani-dora. n. Lit. the white lord, i.e., Siva or Balarāma. తెల్లబారు tella-bāru. v. n. To turn white. తెల్లబారిన whitish, glassy or glazed as an eye. తెల్లబోవు tella-bovu. v. n. To turn pale, to be thunderstruck. తెల్లమి or తెల్లము tellamu. adj. Apparent, evident, obvious, clear, స్పష్టము, స్ఫుటము. తెల్లముగా clearly. తేటతెలల్లముగా as clearly as possible. తెల్లవారు tella-vāru. (తెల్ల+పారు.) v. n. To dawn, ఉదయమగు. తెల్లవారినప్పుడు when the day dawned. ఈరాత్రి యెట్లా తెల్లవారునా అని ఉంటిమి we were in a fix, not knowing how this grief would terminate. 'తెల్లవారగనువచ్చెన్' he came at dawn. తెల్లవారకముందు before break of day. To turn white. తెల్లనగు. తెల్లవారలేస్తే from the hour of awaking. To be ruined or lost సారహీనమగు. అతని పని తెల్లవారినది his affair has lost all colour, i.e., he is ruined. తెల్లవారులు or తెల్లవార్లు tellavārulu. adv. Until morning. తెల్లవారగట్ల tella-vāra-gaṭla. adv. At daybreak. తెల్లవారి tella-vāri. n. The dawning, morn. (A verbal noun in ్ర as వినకరి and పలుకుబడి.) ఆ తెల్లవారి the following morning. తెల్లవారించు or తెల్లవార్చు tella-vārinṭsu. v. a. To cause the day to dawn, to watch all night. To clear up, explain, settle. అతనిపని తెల్లవారించినారు they arranged his matter.

(p. 806) poḍucu poḍuṭsu. [Tel.] n. To rise (as the sun or moon, a star, or the tide.) ప్రొద్దుపొడుచు, ఉదయించు, ఏపోటుపొడుచు నీకు వానితిట్లు పొడిచేనాటికి when his curses touch you, or fall upon you. ఏరు పోటు పొడిచినది the tide has risen in the river. To fight, పోట్లాడు. 'పాండవబలంబే కాదశా క్షౌహిణుల్ రూఢింగౌరవసైన్య మీయుభయముంరోషాహేతా న్యోన్యమై యీడబోవక వీకతో బొడువగా నేపారుఘోరాజి నల్లాడెంధాత్రి.' M. I. i. 136. వీకతోబొడువగా on their making a bold attack, ధైర్యముతో పైబడగా. v. a. To pierce, stab, gore. To prick or cause pain. To sting, కుట్టు. రంధ్రము to bore a hole. పొడుచు to put (a worm) on a fish hook ఇచది కండ్లను పొడుస్తున్నది it tries (pricks) the eyes. మోచేతితోపొడుచు to thrust or hit with the elbow, or to elbow. ముద్రపొడుచు to seal, set a seal on. To cut down, or fell, నరకు. 'బొగ్గులకైకల్పతరువు బొడుచుటసుమతీ.' Sumati. v. 73. ఆనపొడుచు to lay a ban or protest, so as to check proceedings, ఒట్టుపెట్టు. A proverb says వానివేలితోనే వానికన్ను పొడిచినారు they pierced his eye with his own finger, i.e., they turned his arts against himself. పొడుపు poḍupu. n. A stab, పొడుచుట. A pricking pain, as that of a boil. The rising of the sun. The swell of a river. ఉదయము, పోటు. 'తడుకద్రోపరి ముచ్చు పొడుపులు.' P. iv. 255. టీ నెరదొంగలుగాక తడుకద్రోపరులైన దొంగలు. నెలపొడుపు the rising of the moon. పొడికథ or పొడుపుకథ a conundrum. పొడుపుడుమాట or ఎత్తిపొడుపుమాట a taunt or jeer, దెప్పు. Ila. iii. 8. పొడుపుగొండ poḍupu-gonḍa. n. A mountain out of which the sun is supposed to rise, ఉదయాద్రి. పొడువ or పొడుపడు poḍuva, n. One who thrusts or pricks. పొడుచువాడు. A wicked man, దుర్జనుడు.

(p. 1096) lagnamu lagnamu. [Skt.] n. The rising of a Sign or Constellation. That portion of the equator, which rises in succession with each Sign in an oblique sphere. A period astrologically selected for any auspicious ceremony, such as a marriage, &c. రాశియొక్క ఉదయము. adj. Attached to, adhering to, in contact with, joined to, connected with, intent on, తగులుకొన్న. లగ్నకుడు lagnakuḍu. n. A security, or surety. పుటకాపు. పూటపడినవాడు. ప్రతిభువు. లగ్నపత్రిక lagna-patrika. n. A wedding notice.

(p. 1219) vēgu vēgu. [Tel.] v. n. To dawn. తెల్లవారు, ఉదయమగు. To watch without sleeping, నిద్రమేలుకొనియుండు, ౛ాగారముచేయు. To fry, or be fried. తపించు, గిం౛లువేగు. To endure, suffer, grieve. పరితపించు, పడు. 'కంటికినిద్రగానొదుగంబడి వేగెదమిందు.' A. iii. 40. వీనితో వేగడము కష్టము I cannot get on with him. 'వేదనవేగివేగి, దుర్భరవిచచారడోలలదూగి తూగి.' R. v. 228. To spy out, reconnoitre, to explore, రహస్యముగాపోయి లేక వచ్చి మర్మమును కనుక్కొను. వేగుచుక్క, వేగురు చుక్క or వేకువచుక్క vēga-ṭsukka. n. (p. 1303) samudayamu sam-udayamu. [Skt.] n. The state or act of being well born. చక్కని ఉదయము. A multitude, assembly, quantity. సమూహము, చయము, గణము, సముదాయము samudāyamu. n. A multitude. సమూహము, గుంపు. సముదాయపునేల a piece of land which is common to various persons, land held in commmon. సముదాయపువిన్నపము a general petition.

(p. 1370) sphūrti sphūrti. [Skt.] n. Excitation, palpitation, vibration, tremulousness. Manifestation. Excess, fulness; expanding, prevalence. Gleaming, sparkling, shining, ప్రవృత్తి, కంపము, ప్రకాశము, ఉదయము, విజృంభణము, అతిశయము, పరిపూర్ణత. Thinking, తోచుట. 'పురితేరుల్ మహనీయ జంగమ నగస్ఫూర్తింగడున్ రాజిలున్.' P. i. 70. 'భూషామణిస్ఫూర్తి బ్రోదజేయ.' ib. iv. 368. 'కనకగిరిస్ఫూర్తి గరచె గౌతమిగ్రాచె.'
