(p. 9) aṇḍa anḍa [Tel.] n. Nearness; assistance, protection, patronage. ఆసరా, ఆశ్రయము. అండగోడ a buttress, a sloping wall, built to support another. ఆయన అండ చేరి ఉన్నాను I am under his protection. ఆయనను అండచేసికొనియున్నాను I look upon him as my supporter, I hold to him.

(p. 59) anni anni. [Tel.] (Plu. adj. Pron.) So many, all. సమస్తము. అన్నినాళ్లు so many days. అన్ని anni. [Tel.] n. All (Loc. అన్నిట or అన్నిటిలో in all, in all things. Dative అన్నిటికి to all, on the whole.) వాడు అన్నిటా సమర్థుడు he is clever in every thing. అన్నిటికి నేను ఉన్నాను I will be answerable for all. అన్నిటికి తమ్మునే నమ్మి యున్నాను you are my all in all. అన్నిటికి అన్ని చెప్పుచున్నాడు he gives an excuse for every thing.

(p. 68) abhayamu a-bhayamu. [Skt. lit. fearlessness.] n. An assurance of security: warrant of sefety, a promise of shelter, impunity or protection. భయములేదనడము, నీకు భయము లేదు నేను ఉన్నాననడము, భరవసా. ఆయన నాకు అభయమిచ్చియున్నాడు he told me not to be afraid. అభయహస్తము the hand of protection.

(p. 587) dāna dāna. [Tel. ablative of అది.] adv. Thereby, hereby. దాన. A feminine form in verbs. I am she who does. ఒంటిదానను I (feminine) am alone. ఒకదాననే ఉన్నాను I am left by myself.

(p. 670) nuñci nunchi. [Tel. ను+ఉంచు.] affix. From, by. It governs an accusative, as ఇది నన్నుంచికాదు this cannot be effected by me. నెలనుంచి యిక్కడ ఉన్నాను. I have been here a month. రెండుదినములనుంచి for the last two days. అది నన్నుంచి రావలసినదా is this due by me. నన్నుంచి ఒక నల్లియును చావదు not even a bug has died by my hand. ఈ రెండు దినములనుంచి లేడు he has not been here these two days. గాలినుంచి from the wind. ఎక్కడనుంచి whence?

(p. 887) bisa bisa. [Tel.] n. The spring as of a watch, &c. యంత్రపుకీలు. A machine, యంత్రము. A contrivance, device, ఉపాయము. 'అచ్చటం గ్రుచ్చికానరాకుండ మునుమున్ను మృగయుండు బిసయొడ్డిసంఘటించిన కాలి బోనులంబడి.' Swa. iv. 55. అగ్రంథమును తెప్పించడానకు మరికొక బిసపెట్టి ఉన్నాను I have laid another plan for obtaining that book. బిసబిస bisa-bisa. adv. Rapidly, with a spring. B. X. 257.

(p. 1076) rāyi rāyi. [Tel.] n. A stone, rock, శిల. ఇటికరాయి a brick. రాయిరప్ప stone and rubbish. (here రప్ప is an anuk.) (Gen. రాతి. Instr. రాత. Plu. రాళ్లు. రాతికట్టుభూమి stony soil. చిట్టెపురాయి a lump of dross. ఉప్పురాయి a crystal or bit of salt. ఉప్పురాయివలె నేను ఒకకొడుకును పెట్టుకొన్నాను I have one single son whom I have kept as a pet. ఉప్పురాయివలె ఒకణ్ని ఉన్నాను. I am left solitary. A proverb says చలిపందిటికుండలో రాళ్లు వేయడము to dissuade one from a good deed. See రాతి.

(p. 1203) vṛddha vṛiddha. [Skt. from వృధ్ to increase, to grow.] adj. Increased, extended, improved. Old. వృద్ధకావేరి the main stream of the Kaveri. వృద్ధగోదావరి the main stream of the Godavari. వృద్ధత్వము vṛiddhatvamu. n. Old age. వార్థక్యము. వృద్ధశ్రవుడు vṛiddha-ṣravuḍu. n. An epithet of Indra. ఇంద్రుడు. వృద్ధాప్యము vṛiddhāpyamu. Old age. ముసలితనము. వృద్ధి vriddhi. n. Increase, augmentation, extension, పెరుగుట, అభివృద్ధి. Plenty, abundance, prosperity. సమృద్ధి. Interest on money, వడ్డి. Multiplication, గుణకారము. In Sanskrit grammar, the temporal augment. చవృక్రద్ధి. compound interest. హానివృద్ధులు increase and decrease. దానిహాని వృద్ధులకు నేను ఉన్నాను I am answerable for all loss and gain, for all good or ill that happens. వృద్ధు or వృద్ధుడు vṛiddhu. n. An old man. ముసలివాడు. వృద్ధురాలు or వృద్్ధ vṛiddur-ālu. n. An old woman, వృద్ధస్త్రీ. వృద్ధ్యాజీవుడు vṛiddhyā-jīvuḍu. n. One who lives by lending money at interest.
