(p. 54) anukūlamu anu-kūlamu. [Skt.] adj. Favourable, friendly, assisting, salubrious. హీతమైన, సహాయమైన, ఆరోగ్యమైన, శ్రేయస్కరమైన. అనుకూలమైన గాలి a favourable wind. వాని శరీరమునకు అనుకూలమైన స్థలము the place which agrees with him. అనుకూలమైనమాట a friendly word. అనుకూలశత్రువు a friendly enemy అనుకూల కాలము a suitable time. అనుకూలము or అనుకూలత n. Favour, goodness, kindness, aid. సహాయము, మేలు, దయ. దయ ద్రవ్యానుకూలము means, resource. దైవానుకూలము వల్ల by the grace of God. అనుకూలించు, అనుకూలపడు or అనుకూలమగు anukūlinṭsu. [Skt.] v. n. To be of use ఒదవు. To have effect, to have a good result. సఫలమగు, ఒనగూడు. అనుకూలము కాలేదు it failed, it had not the desired effect. నాకు ఇంకా రూకలు అనుకూల పడలేదు I have not yet obtained the money ఈ పని నీకు అనుకూలమగును you will succeed in this business. అనుకూలము చేయు or అనుకూలవరచు anukūlamuchēyu. v. a. To shew favour, to bring a thing about, to countenance. సహాయము చేయు, నెరవేర్చు. కార్యమును అనుకూలము చేసికొన్నారు they brought it about, brought it to a conclusion. అనుకూలుడు anukūluḍu. n. A friend, ally, patron. హితుడు, సహాయుడు, ఉపకారి. వాడు నాకు అనుకూలుడు he is well disposed towards me.

(p. 161) upakaraṇamu upa-karaṇamu. [Skt.] n. An instrument, implement, apparatus, an appendage. సాధనము. ఉపకరించు upa-karinṭsu. v. a. To be of use, benefit, do good to. ఉపకారము upa-kāramu. n. Beneficence, kindness, obligation, aid, help. మేలు ఉపకారి upa-kāri. adj. Beneficent, kind, charitable, obliging, assisting. n. One who does good. ఉపకారిక upa-kārika. n. The temporary abode of a king. రాజు యొక్క విడిది యిల్లు ఉప్పరిగ, ఉపకృతి upa-kriti. n. Aid, assistance, kindness. మేలు.

(p. 190) erugu erugu. [Tel.] v. a. To know, be aware of, to understand. తెలిసికొను, గ్రహించు. వాడు దానిని ఎరిగి చేసినాడు he did it on purpose or intentionally, or ఎరుగక చేసిరి they did it unintentionally ఉపకారము ఎరిగినవారై being grateful, feeling one's kindness. మీరు ఎరిగియుండవలసినది I call upon you to be witness or to observe this. సత్తువయెరిగి లంకణముకట్టవలసినది let the patient be kept fasting in proportion to this strength. ఎరుగని ignorant, innocent. దేహమెరుగక being stupified, or insensible. ఎరుగవా don't you know? ఎరుగను I do not know. మేము కుడిచెయ్యి ఎడమచెయ్యి యెరుగనివారమై as we are such simple people that we do not know our right hand from our left నేను బుద్ధి యెరుగకమునుపే when I was an infant, before I knew anything. ఎరిగితెచ్చుట గాని యెరుగక కాదు I was well aware of what I was bringing: I did not bring it unknowingly. పాటు యెరుగని భాగ్యము fortune that knows no decline. ఎరుగమి erugami. n. Ignorance తెలియమి.

(p. 801) poṇṭe or పోంటెని ponṭc. [Tel.] adv. By reason of, on account of, for, కొరకు, నిమిత్తము. 'పదునెనిమిద విద్యలభవుదేర్పరించె జగత్త్రయిహితముపొంటె.' M. XII. iii. 125. జగత్త్రయిహితముపొంటె, అనగా లోకత్రయమునకు ఉపకారార్థముగాను.

(p. 1031) mēlu mēlu. [Tel.] n. Good, kindness. ఉపకారము. Good fortune, prosperity, favour, happiness, క్షేమము, శుభము. Profit, advantage, లాభము. Righteousness, పుణ్యము, సుకృతము. Excellence, superiority, విశేషము. Love, మోహము. Pride, మదము. 'చదువుల మేలులేదొ.' P. iv. 119. అక్కడికి పోతే మేలు it would be better to go there. అదేమేలు so much the better. మేలెరుగు to be grateful, remember kindness. కీడుమేలు తెలిసినవాడు one who knows good and evil. 'మేలుకలిగేవాడు in time of prosperity. 'తత్సుతశతకంబుకంటె నొక సూనృత వాక్యము మేలుభూవరా.' Bhārat మేలు or మేలి adj. Upper, higher. ఉపరి, అధికము, పై. Good, better. Noble, fine, excellent, superior, శుభమైన, శ్రేష్ఠమైన. మేలుమిద్దె an upper storey. 'లోపలియంతస్తులోని మేల్మిద్దె.' Sārang. D. 113. మేలుగోడ the top wall, battlement, parapet or rail wall. మేలుముసుకు the outer cover. మేలుమాట or మేలువార్త happy news. adv. Up, above, over, మేలు or మేలుమేలు interj. Well done! excellent! better and better! జయ, జయ జయ. మేలుకట్టు mēli-kaṭṭu. n. An awning, a canopy. వితానము. 'మేలిమిమీరగా మేలుకట్టులుగట్టు, రమణీయ చీనాంబరములుగట్టి.' N. ix. 124. మేలుకమ్మిచీర mēlu-kammi-chīra. n. A cotton cloth woven with a coloured border three inches broad. మేలుచెయ్యి mēlu-cheyyi. n. Superiority. హెచ్చు, ఆధిక్యము. adj. Superior, హెచ్చైన. Vish. ii. 116. 'నిజచరిత్రంబు భావిబూభుజులకెల్ల మేలుబంతిగవసుమతియేలుచుండె.' ib. vi. 63. మేలలుమచ్చు mēlu-maṭsṭsu. n. An upper storey, చంద్రశాల. మేలుమచ్చులు a kind of game played by boys. మేలురాసి mēlu rāṣi. n. The top part of a heap of winnowed grain. తూర్పెత్తిన ధాన్యపుసోగు. మేలువాడు mēlu-vāḍu. n. A camp or troop of rope-dancers. దొమ్మరవాండ్రతండా, 'యదువిదర్భాన్వవాయ విధేయబంధువర్యులువీడు చదివించిరుచితవృత్తి.' Chandra Bhanu Charitra. v. 152. 'ఉపకారికినుపకారము విపరీతముకాదు సుమ్మువీడుకువీడే, యుపకారికి నుపకారము నెపమెన్నకచేయువాడు.' Sumati. 19. 'చారుడొకడరుదెంచి జోహారుచేసి, నేటిప్రొద్దున దొమ్మరవీటితోడకాశికాపురికరుగంగగాంచినాడ.' Chenna Basa. Pur. ii. 349. వీడుపట్టు or వీడిపట్టు vīḍu-paṭṭu. n. A camp, శిబిరము, దండుదిగినచోటు. An abode, వాసస్థానము. A temporary abode, విడిది. 'పనివారినందరింబరగ నుచితంపు పలుకులనొడబడ బరచివీడ్కోల్పి, వీడుపట్టుకుపోయి విశ్రాంతుడగుచు.' Pal. 45. 'అమ్మహీవరునాదరంబు వడసి వీడుపట్టునకరిగిన.' M. XII. ii. 374.

Pref. 87. సవిస్తారముగా at full length, extensively, with all the particulars, completely, to the full, వివరముగా. సవినయముగా respectfully. సవినయుడై modestly. సహిరణ్యోదకపూర్వకముగా entirely; (lit. with money and water) - a phrase used in making gifts. సహృదయుడు a good hearted man. సహేతుకము reasonable, well grounded. కారణముతోగూడిన. సహేతుకముగా with the reason or the grounds, కారణసహితముగా. సాకూతము significant, అభిప్రాయసహితమైన. సాకూతస్మితము a wanton glance. A. iv. 41. సానుకూలము favour or kindness, success, ఉపకారము. ఆ పని వానికి సానుకూలమైన తరువాత when he succeeded in that affair. అది సానుకూలముకాక పోయినది it did not succeed. సానుకూలము favourable, kind, ఉపకారమైన. సానుకూలమైన మాట favourable word. సానుకూలముగా favourably, kindly, ఉపకారముగా. సాపత్న్యము the condition of a co-wife, the state of being or having a rival wife, సపత్నీభావము, సవతితనము. 'నీకనుపమసాపత్న్య సంపాదనంబు.' A. ii. 24. 'సాపత్న్యమునను గాకసైరింపగలదెయేకడపపత్నీ.' N. iii. 122. సాపత్న్యుడు an enemy, శత్రువు; the son of a co-wife. సుపత్నీపుత్రుడు. సాపరాధి a culprit, offender, sinner, he who is guilty, నేరస్థుడు. సావకాశము leisure, spare time, an interval, తీరిక, వ్యవధానము. సావధానముగా carefully, diligently, attentively, with due heed, జాగ్రతతో.
