(p. 152) uḍugu uḍugu. [Tel.] v. n. To fall away, grow thin, lean or emaciated, decrease, to be cast off, to be removed as a stone or chain: to be exhausted. To pause, halt, stop. To cease, abate, leave, quit, or relinquish anger. To cease or depart as desire. To be shaken (as a resolution.) M. II. if. 126. కానుపు ఉడిగినది breeding has ceased. ఉడుగక ceaselessly, incessantly, without intermission. ఎగతెగక. ఉడుకువ uḍukuva. [Tel. ఉడుగు+కువ] n. Cessation. Rest. ఊరట, ఉపశమనము. ఉడిగించు uḍiginṭsu. [Tel. causative of ఉడుగు] v. a., To weaken, to lower or starve. To loosen. To turn out, cause to leave, &c., to check, stop, bridle. To remove, do away with. పొగొట్టు.

(p. 163) upaśamanamu or ఉపశమము upa-ṣamanamu. [Skt.] n. Tranquillity, calmness, patience, alleviation, relief, abatement ఓర్పు. ఉపశమించు or ఉపశమిల్లు upa-ṣaminṭsu. v. n. To be calmed or pacified, to be alleviated, to be abated or assuaged. ఉపశాంతి upa-ṣānti. n. Calmness, quiet, serenity. అణగుట, ఓర్పు.

(p. 549) terapa , తెరపి or తెరిపి terapa. [Tel.] n. Opening. తెరచుట. An interval, occation, intermission, leisure. అవకాశము, ఉపశమనము. Disclosure, an opportunity. Looseness, i.e., lewdness. జ్వరమునకు తెరపి చిక్కినది there was an intermission of the fever. తెరపలగా or తెరపతెరపగా loosely, here and there, scatteredly. వాన తెరపి యియ్యలేదు the rain did not cease. తరవ. adj. Open, సంధుగల. తెరసమాటలు down-rightness, plain speaking, plain language. తెరపుమరపు or తెరుపుమరుపు terapu-marapu. n. Dementation. మతితప్పి నప్పుడు కలుగు తబ్బిబ్బు. Sense and nonsense: absence of mind, forgetfulness. ఎవరికిన్ని తెరుపుమరుపుకద్దు every man has his wise and foolish fits.

(p. 1246) śāntamu ṣāntamu. [Skt.] adj. Calm, patient, tranquil, meek, humble; appeased, calmed, stilled, శమితము. n. Patience, mildness, gentleness, tranquility. ఓర్పు, తాలిమి, సమానము. శాంతి ṣānti. n. Tranquility, calmness, quietness, rest, peace, serenity. Stoicism, absencce of passion, quietism. Convalescencce, cessation or alleviation of disease. A religious rite to avert inauspicious accidents or to procure remission of disease. కామక్రోధాదిరాహిత్యము, ఉపళమసము, రోగాదులమట్టుపడడము, క్రూరగ్రహాదులకు ఉపశమనముగా చేసే క్రియ. గ్రామశాంతి a ceremony on completing a village to propitiate evil spirits, &c. ఋతుశాంతి the consummation of a marriage. రోగశాంతి the curing of a disease. తాపశాంతి allaying heat or excitement. దాహశాంతి quenching thirst. శాంతించు ṣāntintsu. v. n. To become calm, to be pacified, శాంతిని పొందు. To improve in health, to become better. మట్టుపడు. గుణపడు. శాంతిపరచు ṣānliparaṭsu. v. a. To mitigate, alleviate, calm, మట్టుచేయు.
