(p. 203) aina aina. [Tel. for అయిన. relative p of అగు] p. p. 1. Being, existing. One who or which is or has become. యజమానుడైన రామయ్య Ramaya who was (his) master. Becoming, suitable, fit; అయిన గుణములు proper principles. అయిన దినము a fit day. అయిన వడ్డి the interest that accumulated. వాకయిన మనిషి my friend. As a conjunction it is thus used ఐన or అయినా or అయినను but though it were so, yet, వాడయినా వీడయినా be it that man or this, either one or the other. It is added to interrogatives as ఎక్కడ. &c., and it gives a strong emphasis as ఎక్కడనైనా wheresoever. ఎవ్వడయినా whosoever. ఎప్పుడయినా whenever. రెండుకోసులయినా at least two miles. ఎవ్వడైననేమి never mind who it was. It turns nouns into adjectives as సొగసైన pretty, having elegance. Else-where it is translated who is (and is added to adjective nouns, thus) కవి అయిన భీమన the poet Bhīmana. విద్వాంసుడైన కవి a poet who is a man of learning. Thus also in the plural ధనికులైన వర్తకులు merchants who are rich. ఐనను or ఐనప్పటికిన్ని although. but, అందుకు అయిన క్రమము the price of that. నాకైనను even to me మేనల్లుడైన అంతఃకరణవల్ల through the affection arising from his being a nephew. ఐనట్టయితే See ఐతే. మీది అయినట్టయితే should it be yours. ఐనప్పటికిన్ని conj. When it is so, even then, nevertheless, still, yet.

(p. 216) ō Ō. An affix, denoting question, guess or doubt, &c., as నీకో వానికో to you or to him. బిడ్డయో పాపయో either child or baby. అట్లు తలచినారో possibly they thought so. ఎక్కడనో somewhere or other. వాడు వస్తేనో in case he should come.

(p. 670) nuñci nunchi. [Tel. ను+ఉంచు.] affix. From, by. It governs an accusative, as ఇది నన్నుంచికాదు this cannot be effected by me. నెలనుంచి యిక్కడ ఉన్నాను. I have been here a month. రెండుదినములనుంచి for the last two days. అది నన్నుంచి రావలసినదా is this due by me. నన్నుంచి ఒక నల్లియును చావదు not even a bug has died by my hand. ఈ రెండు దినములనుంచి లేడు he has not been here these two days. గాలినుంచి from the wind. ఎక్కడనుంచి whence?

(p. 786) pegalu pegalu. [Tel.] Another form of పెకలు. (q. v.) అప్పు ఎక్కడను పెగలలేదు I could not borrow money anywhere.

(p. 888) bīḍu bīḍu. [Tel.] adj. Waste. Base, low, inferior, poor, second-rate, as rice, or a colour. నాపని యిప్పుడు నిండా బీడుగా నున్నది my affairs are in a very bad condition. బీడుది యెందుకు I don't want the worst. బీడుభూమి waste land. n. A waste, uncultivated land, barren land. Worthless iron. మట్టపు ఇనుము. చేనిలో పుట్టునబీడు ఎక్కడికి పోవును shall I not do what I will with my own? వెదురుబీడు bamboo jungle. గడ్డిపట్టినబీళ్లు grass commons, meadows kept for grass.

(p. 944) maḍi maḍi. [Tel. from మడగు.] n. Purity, an unpolluted cloth, clean clothes. శుచి, ధౌతవస్త్రము. మడితోనుండు to be dressed in clean garments, as a Brahmin, when he takes his meals. ఎక్కడికిపోయినా నా మడితప్పను go where I may, I will not break the rule of purity. adj. Pure, clean. శుచిగానుండే. మడిబట్ట a clean cloth. మడికాసు maḍi-kāsu. n. Silver, వెండి. (Thus, white money was an old English word for silver.) మడికాసుకొండ the hill of silver, i.e., రజతగిరి. 'అదిసుధాకర బింబమా కాదు మడి కాసువన్నె వేలుపుటున్నువత్తిగాని.' P. iv. 251. మడిచేరు maḍi-chēru. n. The end of a woman's cloth tucked up behind. మడివేలు maḍi-vēlu. n. A washerman. చాకలి. మడిసంచి maḍi-sanchi. n. A pure or sacred bag. మడివస్త్రములను ఉంచుసంచి. మడిసంచి maḍi-sandi. n. The arm pit, చంక, కక్షము.

(p. 1035) mokkalamu or మొక్కలితనము mokkalamu. [from Skt.ముష్కరము.] n. Obstinacy, stubbornness, ముష్కరత్వము. Bravery, courage, valor, heroism, శౌర్యము, ధైర్యము. Spiritedness, enthusiasm, joy, ఉత్సాహము. మొక్కలములు stubborn language. adj. Stubborn, obstinate, ముష్కరమైన. Irresistible, అప్రతిహతము. 'ఎక్కడిధర్మరహస్యం బెక్కడి చుట్టరికమింక నేటివినయముల్ మొక్కలపుశత్రుడొంటిం జిక్కిన జంపురయె నీతి సిరులు వలసినన్.' Vish. viii. 446. 'చ ననుగనియొండుసత్వముమనంబున బెగ్గిలిడాయునప్పుడి. మ్మనివరుడిట్లపోలెగృప మొక్కలమై శునకంబుగాగజేయునో.' M. XII. iii. 100. కృపమొక్కలమై, అనగా దయావిహీనుడై. మొక్కలి or మొక్కలిక mokkali. n. The flash or sparkle in a ruby. కెంపులోని అధికకాంతి. మొక్కలి, మొక్కలికాడు, మొక్కలీడు or మొక్కలుడు n. An obstinate man. ముష్కరి, మూర్ఖుడు. A guard, a sentry, కావలివాడు. A hero, a courageous man, శూరుడు, కోపగాడు. 'సీ మంత్రివిద్వేషంబు మాన్యపరభవంబును ప్రజాపీడనంబులునుగలగి, మొక్కలీడుగుటయు ముచ్చలిమంత్రులా, తని బాపియతనినందనునిరాజ్య.' M. XIV. i. 23.

(p. 1229) vaipu or వయిపు vaipu. [Tel.] n. A direction, side, quarter, తట్టు, ప్రక్క. An expedient, conveneince, way, manner, ఉపాయము, ఒడుపు, లక్ష్యము. ఆ కొండపయికి ఎక్కడమునకు వైపుచిక్కలేదు I did not find a way to go up the hill. 'వైపు తెలిసి పలుకవలయువేమ.' Vema. 107. ఈ వైపువారు people of these parts. 'కొసరువైపుల నవ్వికొనగోటదువ్వినాత మివిస్తరింపవేతలిరుబోణి.' Sakuntala. iii. 53. వైపుకాడు or వయిపుకాడు vaipu-kāḍu. n. A skilful contriver. ఉపాయశాలి. A man of resources. 'గీ బుంగలయాసనంబు, వడచికొని తెచ్చుచున్నట్టివైపుకాడు.' Surabhanda. 45.
