(p. 41) ativāsamu ati-vāsamu. [Skt.] The fast observed on the day preceding the ceremony in which oblations are presented to the manes of departed ancestors. శ్రాద్ధమునకు ముందు ఒక్క ప్రొద్దు ఉండే దినము.

(p. 133) ikka ikka. [Tel.] n. Place, home, dwelling. 'చక్కదనాలయిక్క' (T. iv. 85.) She was the very home of the graces. ఒక్క యిక్క in one direction. మోవిక్క the lip. అధరమండలము.

(p. 173) ūkiñcu or ఊకు ūkinṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To shake, agitate or move; to endeavour or make an effort. పూను; to rattle the dice. ఊకు or ఊకువ ūku. n. Effort, exertion. పూనిక, ప్రయత్నము. 'ఒక్కూకువంగదల' (R. v. 6.) moving at a single effort. ఒక్క ఊకువగా at once, all at once. ఒక్క సారిగా. ఊకువగు ūkuvagu. (ఊకువ+అగు) v. n. To try, to undertake. పూను.

(p. 180) ekkaṭi ekkaṭi. [Tel.] adj. Single. ఒక్కటి, single-handed అసహాయమైన. Noble, great, superior. గొప్ప n. A hero, a warrior. Cruelty, harshness. ఎక్కటీడు ekkaṭīḍu. n. A hero who is without any assistants. అసహాయుడైనబంటు.

(p. 193) ēkadṛṣṭi ēka-drishṭi. [Skt.] n. One that has only one eye. ఒక్క చూపు గలది. A crow కాకి.

(p. 194) ēkāgruḍu ēkāgruḍu. [Skt ఏక+అగ్రుడు] adj. Attentive, intent. ఒక్కదానియందే మనస్సును నిలిపినవాడు. ఏకాగ్రచిత్తుడు having his heart bent on some one thing.

(p. 195) ēkībhaviñcu ēkī-bhavinṭsu. [Skt.] v. n. To coalesce, unite, harmonise, accord. ఒక్కటియగు. ఏకీభవించు or ఏకీభవముగా unitedly, jointly. ఏకీభావము ēkī-bhāvamu. n. Coalescence, uniting, union. ఒక్కటియగుట, ఐక్యము.

(p. 200) ēmi or ఏమీ ēmi. [Tel.] pron. What. నాదగ్గిర యేమిన్ని లేదు. I have nothing with me. వాడు ఏమయినాడు what has become of him? ఇంక చేయవలసినది మరి యేమి లేదు nothing further remains to be done. ఏమైనా ఉండును there may be something. నేనిక్కడ ఉండడమువల్ల ఫలమేమి what is the good of my staying here? సోమ్ము ఏమిన్ని పోలేదు nothing has been lost. ఏమికతంబున (i.e. ఎందునిమిత్తము) for what reason. వాడేమి నేనేమి అంతా ఒక్కటే either he or I, there is no difference. వచ్చినాడా యేమి has he come? నా తండ్రియేమి నేనేమి both my father and I, my father as well as I. ఎవ్వడైనానేమి no matter who it is. అదియేమి యిదియేమి either this or that. ఆ యిల్లు మీకు చాలకయేమి what do you mean by saying the house is too small for you? వాడు రాకయేమి why should he not come? surely, he will? ఏమివచ్చినావు what have you come for? కుక్క యేమి మొరుగుచున్నది how the dog barks! వాడు ఏమిన్ని యేడవలేదు he did not weep at all. ఏమిటి ēmiṭi. pron. & adj. What, of which, what kind of. అదేమిటి what's that? ఏమిటో I don't know what that is వాడు ఏమిటివాడు of what caste is he? ఏమిటికి wherefore, for what reason. ఏమిటికో I know not why. ఏమిన్ని anything whatever. ఏమిన్ని యివ్వడు he will give nothing. ఏమొ or ఏమో ēmo. (ఏమి with ō added for doubt.) I know not what. రాలేదేమో perhaps they did not come.

(p. 200) ērunēla ēru-nēla. [Tel.] n. Land as much as can be ploughed in a day ఒక్కనాటిలో దున్నగల భూమి.

(p. 206) oka oka. [Tel. Not derived from Skt. వొక, as other words denoting the numerals col show, but cognate with it] adj. A, an, one: ఒక్క. ఒక కోవందరు a few or some few. కొండొక some, some little, as కొండొకసేపు a little time. ఒకరీతిగా after a manner. ఒక పని నిమిత్తము about a certain affair. Adding the intensive ఏ it gives the sense of only: thus ఒకే యిల్లు, or ఒక యిల్లే only one house. వారు ఒక చెయ్యిగానున్నారు they are hand in hand, leagued together. ఒకనాడును ఒప్పడు he will never assent. ఇది ఒకలాగున ఉన్నది this is after a fashion, i.e., is odd, such as cannot be defined. నాకు ఒక విశముగానున్నది I feel very queer, I am out of sorts. ఒకప్పుడు at one time, once. ఒకవేళ at one time, perhaps. ఒకవేళ అట్లా చేసినా if he ever does so, in case he does so. ఒకింత or ఒక్కింత okinta. (ఒక+ఇంత) n. So much: a little, some trifle, ever so little.

(p. 206) okka okka. [Tel. The emphatic form of ఒక cf. Eng. a and one] adj. One. ఒక్కుమ్మడిని (ఒక్క ఉమ్మడిని) all at once, in one rush. ఒక్కపొద్దు A 'single meal,' i.e., a religious fast: restriction to one meal a day. నిన్న ఒక్కపొద్దు ఉంటిని I ate but once yesterday. ఒక్కెడ (ఒక్క+ఎడ) occasionally, at times.

(p. 206) okkaṭi Same as ఒకటి. (q. v.) ఒక్కటను all at once: suddenly ఏకముగా, అకస్మాత్తుగా.
