(p. 38) aḍḍamu aḍḍamu. [Tel.] n. Obstacle, hindrance, A screen. అభ్యంతరము, ఆటంకము, చటు. A pledge తాకట్టు నీ మాటకు అడ్డము లేదు no one will resist you. వాండ్లకు మాకు గోడ అడ్డముగా ఉండినది there was a wall between them and us. ఒక నగను అడ్డము పెట్టి యిరువైరూపాయలు తెచ్చినాడు he pawned a jewel and got twenty rupees. నా పనికి అడ్డము వచ్చినాడు he opposed my endeavours. మొగుణ్ని అడ్డముపెట్టుకొని తానే అన్ని పనులు చూచుకొనిపోయినది she used her husband as a screen and carried on the business. వాడు తండ్రికి అడ్డమాడుతాడు he opposes or contradicts his father. తిరుపతికి పోయేలోగా మూడేళ్లు అడ్డమువస్తవి there are three rivers to cross on the way to Tirupati. ఏదో ఒకటి వచ్చి అడ్డముపడినది something has got in the way. వానికి అడ్డము తగిలినారు they interrupted him. కొంతదూరము దోవనే పోయి అవతల అడ్డము తిరిగినాడు or అడ్డము తొక్కినాడు he went along some way and then cut across. 'కరాగ్రములు దృష్టులకడ్డమిడుచు.' BD. iv. 1532. అడ్డముగా aḍḍamu-gā. [Tel.] adv. Crosswise, across, transversely. చెట్టు కండ్లకు అడ్డముగానున్నది the tree intercepts the view, నేను అడ్డముగా నిలిస్తిని I stood in his way.

(p. 271) kāpu . kāpu. [Tel. from కాచు.] కాచు. n. Keeping, attendance. Protection, guard. రక్షణము. Heat, warmth (This is from కాగు.) Productiveness కాయలుకాచుట. The crop or fruit. కాపుడిగినచెట్టు a tree that is past bearing. కండ్లకు రెప్పలు కాపుగానున్నవి the eyelids are a protection to the eyes. కాపు ఉంచు to place a guard. కాపు or కాపువాడు n. A tenant. A farmer, a cultivator. A rustic or countryman. A person, an individual, a dweller. మంచు కొండకాపు or హిమాచలవాసి. Siva రుద్రుడు. సొమ్ముకాపు a holder or owner of property. పాలికాపు a member or shareholder. మహనాటికాపులు leaguesmen, members of the (Mahanādu) community. కాపుగడ or కాపుడు kāpugaḍa. n. Protection. కాచుట, రక్షించుట. కాప kāpa. adj. Appertaining to the farmer caste. కాపమాటలు rustic language. The vocative of కాపు a farmer. ఓకాప, నీవెట్లొకో వచ్చితి విటకు O farmer, how did you come here? B.D. iv. 1963. కావత. kāpata. n. A country girl, a rustic. The female of కాపు. కాపుతనము kāpu-tanamu. n. The rustic condition, the state of farmers. ఈ కాపుతనమును విడిచిపెట్టడము మేలు it would be better to give up the farming business. కాపుది A woman of the farming caste, a female rustic.

(p. 900) bēṭamu bēṭamu. [Tel.] n. A mask. కనుబేటము a mask for the eyes, కండ్లకుమరుగు.

(p. 1048) mōsagiñcu or మోసపుచ్చు mōsaginṭsu. v. a. To deceive, delude, or betray. వంచించు. మోసపోవు mōsa-pōvu. v. n. To be ruined, duped, deluded, or deceived. వంచింపబడు. To make a mistake, ప్రమాదపడు. మోసము mōsamu. n. Deceit, fraud, a trick, duping. వంచన, దగా, ప్రమాదము. Danger, detriment, peril, mischief. ఇక్కడ ఉంటే మోసమువచ్చును remaining here is dangerous. నాబుద్ధికి మోసము వచ్చెను I was deluded. ఆ మందు వేస్తే కండ్లకు మోసము if you apply that medicine it will injure the eyes. మోసకత్తె a cunning jade. మోసముచేయు to deceive.
