(p. 222) kaṅkaṇamu kankaṇamu. [Skt.] n. A bracelet or anklet. ముత్యాలు మొదలైనవాని సరము. A consecrated thread bound on the wrist at the commencement of a marriage, &c: చేతికి కట్టుకొను తోపరము. The trellice or running flowered pattern cut in marble round the walls of a temple. కంకణము వంటి దూడ a thriving calf. బద్ధకంకణుడై bound to execute an act. ఆ పనికి కంకణము కట్టుకొన్నాడు he undertook that work or is wedded to it. ధర్మమునకు కంకణముకట్టుకొని యున్నాడు he is bent on doing justice. కంకణాలయూటె a spear girded with rings of silver or other metal. కంకణగ్రహణము kankaṇa-grahaṇamu. n. An annular eclipse.

(p. 232) kaṭṭukonu kaṭṭu-konu. [Tel.] v. a. 1. To build, to bind, to wear or put on. దోవతి కట్టుకొన్నాడు he put on his cloth. See కట్టు. 2. To incur (blame or sin) ఇంత పాపము కట్టుకోవలసినదా shall we incur so great a sin? పుణ్యము కట్టుకొను to acquire merit. 3. To marry. దాన్ని కట్టుకొన్నాడు he married her. 4. To conquer. To appropriate, take possession of. వారి దేశమునంతా తాను కట్టుకొన్నాడు he conquered all their territories. చేతులు కట్టుకొనుట to fold the hands respectfully. అప్పులు కట్టుకొన్నాడు he took the debts upon him. నూరుకట్టుకొను to refrain from eating.

(p. 319) konu konu. [Tel.] The sign of the middle voice in the Telugu verb, as తెచ్చుకొను, and తెలిసికొను. ఇల్లు కట్టుకొన్నారు they built a house for themselves. ఇల్లు కట్టించుకొన్నారు they got a house built for themselves. హత్య he killed himself. చేసుకొన్నాడు he got himself tattooed. పచ్చపొడిపించుకొన్నాడు he who lends upon mortgage. Wherever self is used in English this middle verb is used. The causal form of కొను is కొలుపు (q. v.)

(p. 872) balla balla. [Skt.] n. A bench, plank, board, table. A ship's deck. The disease called spleen. గుల్మము. వారు బల్లమీద కూర్చుండిరి they were sitting on a bench. రెండుబల్లలను ౛తచేయుము join the two planks together. అతనికడుపులో బల్లకట్టుకొన్నది or బల్లపెరిగినది he has a enlargement of the spleen. నీరుబల్ల the dropsy బల్లకట్టు balla-kaṭṭu. n. A large flat bottomed boat, a raft. వెడలుపైన అడుగుగల పడవ. బల్లకూర్పు balla-kūrpu. n. Wainscotting, planking, joiner's work. బల్లకూర్పుటిల్లు a house built of boards. బల్లకోల balla-kōla. n. A sort of spear of harpoon. పంట్రకోల. 'భ్రమితేంద్రియములను బలునిర్రె నేసి, భాషాప్రణీతమన్బలుబల్లకోల, నీషణత్రయమను నెలుగుకన్నొడిచి.' BD. v. 1443. బల్లగోలలవారు balla-gōlala-vāru. n. Lancers. 'వరుసనుబహుపుష్ఫ వాటికల్ నాటి, జాలవారిని దివ్వటీలను బల్లగోలలవారిని గుడిపూజరులను.' BD. iii. 1016.
