(p. 27) agrahāramu agra-hāramu. [Skt.] n. A street or village inhabited by brahmins. A village of which the old and hereditary cultivators are brahmins. A village granted to brahmins by government for charitable or religious purposes; either rent free, or at a favourable assessment. The conditions on which these villages are held are specified thus, సర్వాగ్రహారము a village free from all tax. శ్రోత్రియాగ్రహారము a village granted at a certain fixed assessment. జోడి అగ్రహారము, or బిల్మకా అగ్రగారము or, కట్టుబడి అగ్రహారము a village granted at a rent which fluctuates with the produce. అగ్రహారికుడు a brahmin belonging to such a village. అగ్రహారమనుభవించేవాడు he who enjoys a village free from tax.

(p. 232) kaṭṭupaḍu kaṭṭu-paḍu. [Tel.] v. i. To be tied, to be bound by. To be subject to బద్ధమగు. న్యాయమునకు కట్టుబడి being tied down to justice. కట్టుపాటు kaṭṭu-pāṭu. n. System, regulation, a code, a byelaw. నిబంధనము. కట్టుపాటుచేయు kaṭṭu-pāṭu-chēyu. v. a. To ordain.

(p. 232) kaṭṭubaḍi kaṭṭu-baḍi. [Tel.] n. A settlement: as of permanent revenue. కట్టుబడిబంట్రోతు a serf, a settler; a feudal retainer, who is supported by land settled upon him, a village servant. కట్టుబడిపొలము land assigned to a serf in fee. కట్టుబడి మాన్యము the land assigned to such an officer in perpetuity.
