(p. 237) katti katti. [Tel.] n. A knife. A sword. తీసినకత్తితీరు బిత్తలియై నిలిచినది she stood as a drawn sword. A measure of land, which differs in various districts. It is considered to be as much as a man can reap in one day. In the Government accounts a 'cutty' is rated at 40 acres and 14 గుంటలు (q. v.) This phrase, which means a 'sword of land' implies that this quantity of land was assigned to a family which furnished the feudal lord one fighting man. కత్తికట్టేదొర katti-kaṭṭē-dora. An officer, a gentleman who wears a sword. కత్తికాసు katti-kāsu. n. A carpenter's tool for squaring. కత్తిపిట్టి katti-piṭṭa. The Cuckoo called Hierococcyx varius. చిన్న కత్తిపిట్ట The Indian plaintive cuckoo, Cacomantis passcrinus. (F.B.I.) కత్తిపిడిక a basket in which a toddy drawer keeps his knives ఈండ్రవాని కత్తుల బుట్ట. కత్తిపీట katti-pīṭa. n. A large knife standing slantwise in a block of wood upon which vegetables are sliced. కత్తిబళ్లెము katti ballemu. A 'sword spear,' a scythe-like blade mounted as a spear.

(p. 237) kattuva kattuva. [Tel.] n. A wooden spade with a triangular blade. A dam across a stream. A dam, mole or bank ఆనకట్ట.

(p. 697) paṭṭiyamu or పట్టెము paṭṭiyamu. [Tel.] n. A large sword. పెద్దకత్తి, 'చేకత్తులున్ పట్టి యంబులుపందీటెలు.' R. ii. 20.

(p. 808) podi podi. [Tel.] n. An udder, పొదుగు. Weight, భారము. A quiver, అమ్ములపొది. A multitude, సమూహము. A barber's pouch. మంగలవాని అడపము. పొదిగొను podi-gonu. v. n. To become a crowd, to assemble in a crowd, గుంపుకూడు. పొదుళ్లు poduḷḷu. plu. Cases or pouches, used by barbers. 'కత్తులపొదుళ్లు మంత్రముల్ కట్టుపసరు.' H. iii. 264.

(p. 912) bōnu bōnu. [Tel.] n. A trap. దుష్టమృగములను పట్టుకొను కపటయంత్రము. A cage, పెంపుడు మృగముల నుంచుటకైవపంజరము. 'కత్తులబోను కాపురము. కామిని నీతలపోప్పదీయెడన్.' Chenna. iv. 279. బోనుపొయ్యి bōnu-poyyi. n. A portable oven shaped like a bowl.

(p. 928) bhairavamu bhairavamu. [Skt.] n. Frightfulness. భయానకరసము. Darkness, or swimming of the eyes. కన్నులకు భైరవముకమ్మినది a darkness came over my eyes, I was dazzled. adj. Terrible, frightful. బైరవకత్తి bhairava-katti. n. A large heavy two edged sword. 'భైరవకత్తులు పట్టుకరాగా.' Pal. 259. భైరవి or భైరి bhairavi. n. The Peregrine Falcon, Falco peregrinus. జుట్టుభైరవి the Crested Hawk Eagle. భూతభైవి an epithet of the goddess Káli or Durga who is the same as Isis or Venus. పార్వతి. A shrub called Premna serratifolia. Rox. iii. 77. భైరవుడు bhairavuḍu. n. A name of Siva, but more especially an inferior manifestation or form of the deity, eight of which, are called by the common name భైరవుడు, and are severally termed అసితాంగభైరవుడు, రురుభైరవుడు, దండభైరవుడు, క్రోధభైరవుడు, ఉన్మతభైరవుడు, కుపితభైరవుడు, భీషణబైరవుడు, సంహారభైరవుడు, ఆకాశభైరవుడు, (a form of Siva, corresponding to Anubis or Osiris.)

(p. 1038) mottu mottu. [Tel.] v. a. To beat, smite, thrash. కొట్టు. 'కత్తులుకేడెముల్ కరముల దాల్చి, మొత్తిదైత్యులశిరంబులుడుల్లగొట్టి.' Venkaṭāchala Maha. Page. 171. To cut, నరుకు. n. A blow, దెబ్బ. మొత్తించు to cause to beat, కొట్టించు. మొత్తులాడు mottu-l-āḍu. v. n. To fight, dispute or quarrel. కొట్లాడు. 'పుణ్యాహతండులములకు మొత్తులాడి.' A. vi. 91. మొత్తుపడు mottu-paḍu. v. n. To be beaten, కొట్టుపడు, కొట్టబడు. మొత్తికొను or మొత్తుకొను motti-konu. v. n. To beat one's own head or mouth in despair. To lament or wail. అక్కడికి పోవద్దని మొత్తుకొంటిని I entreated him not to go there. 'అసురుసురనుచు నడునెత్తి మొత్తుకొనుచు.' Jagann. ii. 63. మొత్తుకోళ్లు mottu-kōḷḷu. n. Lamentations, howling, outcries, wailing. ఏడ్పు, పెడబొబ్బలు.
