(p. 246) kamalamu kamalamu. [Skt.] n. The lotus, Nymphœa nelumboa, water-lily. తామర, ఎర్రతామర. Also, water నీరు. కమలదళము the petal of a lotus. కమలదళరూపము a rose pattern, a flower shape. కమలాకరము a tank abounding with the lotus. కమలాకారము heart shaped. కమలాప్తుడు kamal-āptuḍu. (from ఆప్త dear) n. The sun, because he is dear to the lotus, which expands as he rises. కమలాసనుడు kamal-āsanuḍu. (from ఆసన a seat.) n. The god Bramha, because the lotus is his throne. కమలాపండు kamalā-paṇḍu. [from Skt. కమలము water and Tel. పండు. lit. Juicy fruit.] n. The orange called a loose jacket. కమలలిని kamalini. n. A tank abounding with the lotus: the lotus itself.

(p. 1194) viṣamu vishamu. [Skt.] n. Poison, venom: anything hurtful or destructive. గరళము, చెరుపైనది. నాశనకరమైనది. In poetry it sometimes means water, జలము. అది దీనికి విషము that is poison to this. వాని నిలువెల్లా విషము he is a rogue from head to foot. విషముఎక్కినది the poison took effect. విషముదిగినది the effect of the poison went off. నేనంటే వానికి విషముగానున్నది he hates me like poison. దీన్ని నోట్లో వేసుకొంటే విషముగానున్నది it is as bitter as gall. విషజ్వరము a malignant fever, typhoid fever, విషభేది virulent diarrhœa, విషపాండువు acute dropsy. విషవునీరు the pus or matter in a boil విషవాక్కులు fatal expressions, క్రూరవచనములు. విషధరము visha-dharamu. n. A snake or serpent. సర్పము. A cloud, మేఘము. విషధరుడు visha-dharuḍu. n. One who carries poison, an epithet of Siva. శివుడు విషపుచ్ఛము visha-puchchamu. n. A scorpion. తేలు. A rogue, తులువ. విషముష్టి or విషవృక్షము visha-mushṭi. n. A poisonous tree, the nux vomica tree. ముష్టిచెట్టు. విషరుహము visha-ruhamu. n. A lotus, కమలము. 'విషమగుణంబేలపోవు విషరుహనయనా.' Ila. iv. 9. విషవైద్యుడు visha-vaidyuḍu. n. A snake-catcher. అహితుండికుడు. A magician, గారడీలు. విషోల్బణుడు vish-ōlbaṇuḍu. n. One who has an excess of venom. అధికవిషము కలవాడు. (p. 1316) sahasramu sahasramu. [Skt.] n. A thousand. వెయ్యి. Also, indefinitely used for many, or any great number, అనేకము. అహస్రదంష్ట్రము sahasra-damshṭramu. n. A thousand-toothed animal, i.e., a whale. వేయికోరలుగలచేప, పా ఠీనము. సహస్ర నామములు sahasra-nāmamulu. n. A thousand names. సహస్రనామపూజ. a hymn wherein a god is addressed by all his titles. సహస్రపత్రము sahasrapatramu. n. A lotus. కమలము. సహస్రపాదుడు or సహస్రాంశువు sahasrapāduḍu. n. Lit. the thousandrayed, i.e., the sun. సూర్యుడు. సహస్రాక్షుడు sahasr-ākshuḍu n. Lit. the thousand eyed; an epithet of Indra. ఇంద్రుడు.

(p. 1391) hṛttu, hṛdayamu or హృది hṛittu. [Skt.] n. The heart, the mind, the seat of thought and feeling. అంతః కరణము, మనస్సు. హృత్కమలము the lotus of the heart, the soul or mind. హృత్తాపము mental anguish or distress. హృద్గతము impressed on the heart, remembered. ఆ పద్యము నాకు హృద్గతము కాలేదు I have not got the verse by heart. సుహృదయుడు a good or kindhearted man. హృదయంగమము hrida-yan-gamamu. adj. Heart-moving, affecting. Pleasant, agreeable. ఇంపైన, మనోహరమైన. 'హృదయంగమరావంబును.' Swa. v. 88. హృదయాళువు hṛiday-āḷuvu. n. An affectionate or kind-hearted man. దయాళువు, మంచి మనస్సుగలవాడు. హృద్యము hṛidyamu. adj.
