(p. 175) ūta ūta. [Tel.] n. A support, a prop. A fishing hook, a basket snare to catch fish. A coop to keep animals in. A pannier. అనటుల యూతగొని leaning against the plantain trees. ఊతకమ్మినట్టు పట్టినాడు he held the cudgel at my face as close as possible. ఊతగా నిలిచి he stood as a support. ఊతకొను ūta-konu. v. n. To support oneself, to rest, lean on. ఊతకోల ūta-kōla. n. A staff to lean on. ఊతము ūtamu. n. Grasp, strength. పట్టు, బలము. ఈ మాట ఊతము చేసినాడు he relied on this statement. ఊతముగా పుచ్చుకొనెను he took it for granted. తన వ్యాజ్యమునకు ఊతము అయిన మాట a circumstance that was in his favour. ఊతము చేయు to state or declare, to strengthen. బలపరుచు.

(p. 247) kammaccu kammaṭṭsu. [Tel. కమ్మి+అచ్చు.] n. An instrument for drawing out wire. కంసలివాడుకమ్మిలాగేపనిముట్టు.

(p. 248) kammi kammi. [Tel.] n. A wire, bar, beam. Border, a fringe, edging. అంచు. A felloe బండికంటికడకమ్మి, కంబి. బ్రహ్మకమ్మి, ముక్కుకమ్మి, or ముక్కమ్మి a nose ring. కమ్మి తీసిపోయినది there is a peg loose, i.e., the plot is discovered. కమ్మిచీర a fringed cloth, or one with a border, edging, or selvage. కమ్మిబండి kammi-banḍi. A cart with wheels having spokes and felloes on the wheels, as opposed to చెకడాబండి a cart with solid wheels.

(p. 248) kammiriñcu or కమ్మివేయు kammi-rinṭsu. [H.] v. t. To cover. మూయు. To conceal దాచు.

(p. 248) kammu kammu. [Tel.] v. t. To beat out into wire. కమ్మిగా సెగగొట్టు. To overspread or cover మూయు, వ్యాపించు, క్రమ్ము. కమ్ముకొను kammu-konu. v. a. To pervade, as smoke; to veil, hide, screen, conceal; to surround. శత్రువులు నాలుగు తట్లా కమ్ముకొనిరి the enemy surrounded him on all sides. నాగొంతుకమ్మినది I became hoarse. మత్తుకమ్మిపడ్డాను a stupor came over me and I fell down. వానికి కావలసినంత బలగము ఉన్నది గనుక వాడు చేసిన పనికి వాణ్నికమ్ముకొన్నారు he had abundance of friends, so they screened him from punishment. కమ్ముదల kammu-dala. n. Covering, concealing. తన కృత్రిమమును కమ్ముదలచేసేకొరకు with a view to conceal his roguery.

(p. 293) kutika , కుతికె or కుత్తిక. kutika. [Tel.] n. The gullet. Tone, voice. వానికి కుతిక కమ్మినది he is hoarse. కుతికమట్టుకు neck deep. కుతికంటు kutik-anṭu. [కుతిక+అంటు] n. A necklace worn close round the throat. కుతికలబడు kutikala-baḍu. v. n. To flop down. చతికలబడు. 'మసలక యాతనిమణికట్టు బట్టి కుడియదాకించిన కుతికలబడియె.' Pal. 251.

(p. 386) gontu or గొంతుక gontu. [Tel.] n. The throat. కంఠము. The voice, a tone కంఠధ్వని. గొంతుపట్టినది I am chocked, i.e., I do not know what to say. నా గొంతురాసినది I am hoarse. వానిగొంతుకమ్మినది he is hoarse. గొంతుకపోక or గొంతునబడి gontuka-pōka. n. The apple of the throat. గొంతుకూర్చుండు gontu-kūrṭsunḍu. v. n. To squat down on one's heels. గొంతుకోత gontu-kōṭa. n. A cutthroat business. A brawl, a quarrel. గొంతెమగోరుచెట్టు gontema-gōru-cheṭṭu. n. A plant, Paederia foetida. సారణి, లంజె. సవరము. గొంతెమ్మ gontemma n. The name of a certain rural goddess. గొంతెమ్మకోరికలు gontemma-kōrikalu. n. Whimsical speculations, castles in the air. కోరదగనికోరికలు, వెర్రిమూచనలు.

(p. 444) caluva or చలవ ṭsaluva. [Tel.] n. Coolness, coldness, cold, శైత్యము. Any thing of a cooling or refreshing nature, such as beneficence, liberality, benignity. Bleaching, a bleaching green. Clothes newly washed. ఉదికినబట్ట. adj. Cold, cooling, comfortable, bleached. white. చలువచేయు ṭsaluva-chēyu. v. t. To bleach, as cloth. To cool the body. చలువడి ṭsaluvaḍi. n. Coolness, cool air. శైత్యము. చలువమిరియము ṭsaluva-miriya-mu. n. Long pepper, cubebs. తోకమిరియము. చలువరాయి ṭsaluva-rāyi. n. White marble, alabaster. చంద్రకాంతము. చలువరేడు ṭsaluva-rēḍu. n. The moon చల్ది ṭsaldi. See చలి. వానికి చలువలు కమ్మినవి a chill came over him, i.e., he is deadly cold or in the extremity of death. చలవపందిలి ṭsalava-pandili. n. A canopy, or triumphal arch, an ornamented booth for an idol. చలువచప్పరపుకోళ్లమంచము a comfortable bed decked out with a coverlet, tilt and pillars. చలువజ్యోతి ṭsaluva-jyōti. n. A poetical word for the moon.

(p. 540) turumu turumu. [Tel.] n. Powder. పొడుము. Braided hair or tresses. కొప్పు. v. a. To cram, or stick: to thrust in. To adjust, trim, deck the head with flowers. కొప్పుగాముడుచు, కొప్పునదోపు. To grate, pound, reduce to powder or to chips పొడిచేయు. వాని నోట్లో గుడ్డతురిమి కొట్టినారు they thrust a handkerchief into his mouth to beat him. తురుముపీట turumu-pīṭa. n. A crooked knife with teeth at the end used to scoop out a cocoanut, &c. తురుముట కనువుగా చివరను పండ్లేర్పరచిన వంకర యినుప కమ్మిచెక్కిన పీట.

(p. 868) bari bari. [Tel.] n. A side. పార్శ్వము. 'పక్కలు నాటించి బరులుచెండాడి.' Pal. 108. బరులుబ్బు to bloat, as the belly or the sides of the belly. A line drawn on the ground in a circle, గిరి. An elephant goad, ఏనుగుప్రక్కలుపొడిచి బెదరించుటకై అర్థచంద్రాకారముగా ఉక్కుతో చేసిన అలుగుగల వేణుదండము. A thief, దొంగ. An enemy, శత్రువు. adj. (for బరిగి), Naked. బరిమేను = దిగంబరదేహము. 'తొడమెడ బరికాలు దోరంపుచెవులు.' B. D. i. 514. బరికట్టె or బరికమ్మి bari-katṭe. A spear without a handle, అలుగులేనియీటె. A crook or stick used by herdsman, దోటి.' గొడ్డలిబరికమ్మికూటికుండయును.' (p. 928) bhairavamu bhairavamu. [Skt.] n. Frightfulness. భయానకరసము. Darkness, or swimming of the eyes. కన్నులకు భైరవముకమ్మినది a darkness came over my eyes, I was dazzled. adj. Terrible, frightful. బైరవకత్తి bhairava-katti. n. A large heavy two edged sword. 'భైరవకత్తులు పట్టుకరాగా.' Pal. 259. భైరవి or భైరి bhairavi. n. The Peregrine Falcon, Falco peregrinus. జుట్టుభైరవి the Crested Hawk Eagle. భూతభైవి an epithet of the goddess Káli or Durga who is the same as Isis or Venus. పార్వతి. A shrub called Premna serratifolia. Rox. iii. 77. భైరవుడు bhairavuḍu. n. A name of Siva, but more especially an inferior manifestation or form of the deity, eight of which, are called by the common name భైరవుడు, and are severally termed అసితాంగభైరవుడు, రురుభైరవుడు, దండభైరవుడు, క్రోధభైరవుడు, ఉన్మతభైరవుడు, కుపితభైరవుడు, భీషణబైరవుడు, సంహారభైరవుడు, ఆకాశభైరవుడు, (a form of Siva, corresponding to Anubis or Osiris.)

(p. 995) mukku or ముకు mukku. [Tel.] n. The nose. నాసిక. The bill or beak of a bird, పక్షిముఖము. The point or tip. చనుముక్కు a nipple. ముక్కు౛ోడనలు a double nose. ౛మిలిముక్కు. 'మునవనల్ దమిబట్టి ముంగాళ్ల ముక్కుజోడనలచీలిచి.' A. v. 122. ముక్కుడుస్సిన uncurbed, broken loose, rampant, ముక్కుతాడుతీసిన. 'వసుధేశముక్కుడుస్సిన పసరముక్రియ.' A. vi. 53. ముక్కుబంటి యైనదనుక satiating his nostrils with fragrance to the full. P. iii. 224. చిలుకముక్కులు and జీనువముక్కులు two sorts of grain. రెండుముక్కులపిట్ట (the double beaked bird) also called మూడు ముక్కలపిక్క and ఎబ్బెరపిక్క the Hornbill, or Toucan. Jerdon. No. 198. 'ముండగోష్ఠికి ముక్కు మొగమేడతనకు.' HD. ii. 1059. ముక్కు మొగము ఎగనట్టు మాట్లాడినాడు he talked as if I was a perfect stranger to him. ముక్కుపట్టనిముత్తెము a pearl not suited to the nose, i.e., a round man in a square hole. ముక్కుకమ్మిక a certain useless forest tree. ముక్కు mukku. v. n. To moan, groan. To mould or turn musty. To spoil or become half rotten. To strain or press, (as in pain.) ముక్క mukka. (Root in A of ముక్కు to be musty or mouldy, &c.) ముక్కపురుగులు weevils in spoilt grain, తవుటిపురుగులు. ముక్కకంపు a frowzy smell. తర్వాత తొండూరిగ్రామము ముక్క ఉరికినందున ఆ నెత్తము విరిచిరి a disease has appeared which is peculiar to that place. ముత్యాలు ముక్కిపోయినవి the pearls were spoiled. ముక్కుగోళ్లు, ముకుగోళ్లు, ముకుగ్రోళ్లు, ముక్కు జెరములు, ముక్కుచెరములు or ముక్కురంధ్రములు mukkugōḷḷu. n. plu. The nostrils. నాసాపుటములు. ముక్కుత్రాడు or ముకుత్రాడు a nose-rope used for curbing oxen. ముక్కుదొమ్మ or ముకుదొమ్మ mukku-domma. n. A sort of fish. H. iv. 225. ముక్కద్దము mukk-addamu. n. A pair of spectacles, సులోచనము, కంటిఅద్ధము. ముక్కమ్మి or ముక్కుకమ్మి muk-kammi. (ముక్కు + కమ్మి.) or ముక్కర mukka-ra. (ముక్కు + రాయి.) n. A nose ring. నాసాభరణము. ముక్కరమాను mukkara-mānu. n. The frame in which the roller (పుల్లిరుసు) of a కపిల well rolls. ముక్కరము muk-ka-ramu. (ముక్కు + కారెము.) n. A nostril, నాసికారంధ్రము. ముక్కిడి mukkiḍi (ముక్కు + ఇడి) adj. Noseless. ముక్కులేని. ముక్కిడిరోగము caries of the bones of the nose. 'ముక్కిడి తొత్తుకు ముత్తెంపునత్తేల.' రామలింగశతకము. ముక్కిడి or కొండముక్కిడి. n. A certain large tree, Schrebera swietenoides. Rox. i. 109. ముక్కుదూలము or ముకుదూలము mukku-dūlam. n. The bridge or division of the nose. ముక్కునడిమియెముక. ముక్కుపురిడి or ముక్కుపూరేడుపిట్ట mukku-puriḍi. n. The common snipe.
