A season, time of the year. కాలము. చిన్నకారు childhood, youth. తొలికారు the opening of the year. కారు మెరుపు or తొలికరుమెరుపు or క్రొక్కారు మెరుంగు vernal lightning తొలివానకాలపు మెరుపు. నవకారు Spring. ఈ సంవత్సరములో ముక్కారులున్ను పండినవి the three seasons have yielded crops this year. ఒక కారు కోడిపిల్లలను అమ్మివేసినాను I have sold one brood of chickens. నాలుగు కారులగిత్త a heifer four years old. కారు కాలము, ఫలకాము harvest time. కారు పంట, a crop that depends on the rain. వర్షాకాలమందు నీరాసరానుపండే పల్లపుపంట, కారువడ్లు rice grown in the hot season, ఎండకాలమందు పండే వరి ధాన్యము. కారువాయిధర price current of grain at the time of reaping. A plough-share. పటుకారు or నీరుకారు tongs, a pair of pincers. Darkness, jetty blackness. నలుపు, చీకటి. కారుకమ్మెను darkness came on. A forest కారుచిచ్చు wild or forest fire. Lost, gone, past, over, late. పోయిన, గతదినము the last day. గతఫలము loss of advantage. గతజీవితులయి who had lost their lives. గతకాలము the past time. గతకులము a family which is extinct. గతజలసేతుబంధనము banks for a stream that has run dry, a proverb for pains taken too late (shutting the stable door after the horse is stolen.) గతాహంకారులై he who has lost his wits. గతాహంకారులై they being stripped of their pride. గతము n. Passing away. పోక. గతపడు. gata-paḍu. v. n. To pass away. కడచు. To die చచ్చు గతపడ్డ dead. గతవడగ్రస్తవద్యము or ముక్తవదగ్రస్తవద్యము gata-pada-grasta-padyamu. n. A poetical conceit, Capped lines wherein the last word of each line is repeated at the beginning of the next.

(p. 922) bhāṣa bhāsha. [Skt.] n. A language, speech, dialect. A word, phrase, expression. మాట. A solemn undertaking, vow, engagement: what one gives his word for, an oath, ప్రతిజ్ఞ, ప్రమాణము. దేశభాష the vernacular of a country. భాషణము bhāshanamu. v. n. Speaking, speech. మాటాడుట. భాషాంతరము bhāsh-āntaramu. n. Another language: a translation. భాషాగ్రంథము bhāshā-granthamu. n. A poem in a modern or vernacular language, not in Sanskrit. భాషామంత్రము bhāshāmantramu. n. A spell or charm, written in any vernacular language, not in Sanskrit. భాషించు bhāshinṭsu. v. n. A commentator or expounder of technical texts; commonly appliéd as an epithet to two authors names పతంజలి. and ఎంబెరుమానారు. This last is one of the chief legislators of the Vaishnavite Brahmins. His disciples subsequently separated into the two Sects called Tengala and Vedagala. భాష్యకార్లు is also vulgarly used for బాసికములు fillets worn at weddings.

(p. 976) māraṭa māraṭa. [Tel.] adj. and adv. Other, another, counter, ప్రతి, ప్రతికూలము. Altered, changed. ప్రతి, ప్రతిరూపమైన. In lieu of. మారటరతి a second Venus, a perfect beauty. మారటమారుడు another Cupid. మారటరూపు an exact likeness. 'మరిమీద దేవేంద్రు మారటగద్దె నెరినెంతకాలంబు నిలు పుదునంటి.' HD. ii. 2816. 'భాగ్యవతులురూపున మారట రతులు.' Raja Sekhara. i. 40. 'మారటనోరుదాననయి మాటలు చిత్తమునందు నిల్వకే కారులు ప్రేలెదన్ వినుడు.' M. V. iii. 93. మారటతల్లి or మారటతమ్ముడు, &c., Step-mother, step-brother, &c.

(p. 1350) sendārulu sendārulu. [Tel.] n. plu. An instrument which was apparently used in hunting. మృహయాసాధనవిశేషము. 'దీమంబులునిలిపియు, కారులుసొనిపియు, సెందారులు దీర్చియు వలలకుందార్చియు.' Rukmangada. iii. 90.

(p. 1390) huṅkariñcu or హుంకారించు hum-kar-inṭsu. [Skt.] v. n. To cry ha! To shout, to yell, to utter a menacing sound. భయంకరముగా హమ్మను. హుంకారము or హుంకృతి hum-kāramu. n. Uttering a menacing sound. Huzzas, roars, hurrahs, warwhoops. గర్జన, భయంకరముగా హుమ్మని అరవడము, విక్రమసూచకశబ్దము. 'ధిక్కారలీలా చమత్కార హుంకారముల్ ఘోరమైమీర.' N. vi. 278. హుంకారపక్షి hum-kāra-pakshi. n. A Sun-bird or honey-bird, తేనెపిట్ట. హుంకారి hum-kāri. n. He who shouts or yells. హుంకారము చేయువాడు. ఘనాహంకార హుంకారులై shouting with pride.

(p. 1394) honta honta. [Tel.] n. Trouble, పరిశ్రమము. adv. With a little trouble, carefully. Melodiously, harmoniously. Artfully, cleverly. శ్రావ్యముగా, నేర్పుగా. 'తే హొంతబాడుట వనవిహారోత్సవంబు, సలుపుటయు.' Anir. ii. 36. హొంతకారి, హొంతకాడు or హొంతకారుడు hontakāri. n. A clever man or woman, a genius, a beauty. A fencer, a wrestler. A rogue, a cheat, a juggler, a conjuror. నేర్పరి, గట్టివాడు, గట్టిది, సొగసుకత్తె, సాముచేసినజెట్టి, చూచుచుండగా మాయచేయుపురుషుడు, అటువంటిస్త్రీయు. 'గరిడిలో నెరహొంతకారులై సాములమీరిన రాజకుమారమణులు.'
