A frog. ఉరుకుకప్ప or చిరికప్ప a chunam frog or flying frog. బోదురుకప్ప the bull frog. తలకప్ప a tadpole. బాపనకప్ప a frog that in croaking produces a sound like పప్పు పప్పు. కంసాలికప్ప one that produces a sound like tick, tuck. చాకలికప్ప one that produces a sound like ugm, ugm. రాచకప్ప and గోదురుకప్ప are other species. Various species of fish are called కప్పలు. See Russell, plates 19 to 20. కప్పకురుపు kappa-kurupu. n. An abscess in the heel. కప్పచిప్ప kappa-chippa. n. A bivalve shell. నీటిగుల్ల.

The guinea worm that breeds in the flesh of the leg, సెలపుండు, నాడివ్రణము. నారికాయ nāri-kāya. n. A scar caused by drawing the bowstring, అల్లెత్రాటి తాకుడువలన చేతియందు కలిగిన కిణము. (p. 818) pōṭu pōṭu. [Tel.] n. A thrust, a stab, a blow. పొడుపు. కత్తిపోటు. A throb of pain. పోదుపు, నొప్పి. The swell of a river, or of the sea, the flow of the tides, high water, సముద్రోల్పణము, నద్యాదులజలవృద్ధి. Heroism, courage, శౌర్యము. A battle, యుద్ధము. వాడు ఇప్పుడు కొంచెము పోటుమీద నున్నాడు he is now drunk. 'నా కొడుకు పోటుమాటలు, నీకేటికి పొసగవాడ.' M. IV. v. 258. పోటుమాటలు అనగా ఎత్తిపొడుపుమాటలు. చెవిపోటు chevi-pōṭu. n. Ear-ache. ఆ కురుపు పోట్లు పొడుస్తున్నది the boil is throbbing. పోటాపోటీ pōṭā-pōṭī. n. Rivalry, emulation, competition, నీకంటే నాకనిపయిబడడము. వానికి నిన్న దర్భపోటుతగిలినది he was invited to the ceremony held on the anniversary of a man's father's death. పోటుపాటు ఎరిగినవాడు one who knows both sides of the question పోటాడు or పోటొగ్గు to get ready for battle. రణోద్యోగము చేయు. పోటుకంబము pōṭu-kambamu. n. A post or pillar which is set up as a prop, ఊతగానిలిపినస్తంభము. పోటుకలుపు pōṭu-kalupu. n. A second weeding, రెండవమారు తీయు కలుపు. పోటుకాడు, పోటుబంటు, పోటుమగడు or పోటుమానిసి pōṭu-kāḍu. n. A hero, a courageous man, శూరుడు. పోటుకోల pōṭu-kōla. n. A sharp pointed stick used as a prop. 'వలలును దెరలు ప్రోగులు చుట్టగాలేదు, పోటుకోలొకటియు బుచ్చలేదు, తెగిన మెకంబుల తేలేదు.' Dhurjati. iii. 96. పోటుగంప pōṭu-gampa. n. A large basket. పోటుపాటు pōṭu-pāṭu. n. The ebb and flow of a tide. Paidim. i. 86. 'నీపోటుపాటున నిపుడిట్లు మమ్ము బోరించితివి.' HD. ii. 1196. నీపోటుపాటున, నీవెచ్చి తగ్గుటచేతను. పోటెక్కించినవాడు pōt-ekkinchina-vāḍu. n. An assailant, one who attacks. ఎదిరించి పైకి వచ్చేవాడు.' పోటెక్కించినవారిమీద ప్రయోగించినవాని సమరపతి వధియించుననియును బెద్దలవలన వినియుందుము.' M. VII. iii. 96. పోటొడ్డు pōt-oḍḍu. v. n. To face in battle, to oppose. యుద్ధానిముఖుడగు. 'పొడిసింగరాజు పోటొడ్డినాడు.' Pal. 410. పోట్లాట pōḷl-āṭa. (పోటులు+ఆట.) n. Fighting; a struggle, dispute, యుద్ధము, కొట్టాట. పోట్లాడు or పోటులాడు pōṭl-āḍu. v. n. To fight, to battle, to struggle, to come to blows. యుద్ధముచేయు. పోట్లావు pōṭl-āvu. n. A cow that butts, పొడిచే స్వభావముగల ఆవు పోటరి or పోటరికాడు pōṭari. (పోటు+అరి.) n. A hero, a brave man. శూరుడు. 'పోటరులైనభర్త లేవురు గలరంటి.' M. IV. ii. 264. పోటరితనము pōṭari-tanamu. n. Heroism. శూరత్వము.

(p. 871) balupu or బళువు baluvu. [from Skt. బలము.] n. Weight, a load or burden; బరువు. Strength, బలము. A charge, or obligatory duty; onus; oppression; anguish; acuteness (as of a boil), heaviness, severity of sickness. Importance, consequence. భారము. మీ చిత్తమునకు బలువు తోచును you would be displeased. బళువుసుళువు ఎరుగనివాడు one who knows no care. దానిని నెరవేర్చే బళువు తమది it is your business to settle this. బలబళవు ఇంకా తీయలేదు the heaviness or stupor is not yet gone off. నెత్తి బళువు తీరినది there is a weight off my mind. ఆ కురుపు నానాటికి బళువుచేస్తున్నది the boil becomes more painful day by day. adj. Heavy, onerous; obligatory; difficult, acute, severe (as illness), irksome, indisposed. అధికము, మిక్కుటము. Large, పెద్ద. See బలు. వాడు బలువైన పనిచేయలేడు he cannot do any heavy work. బలువుగా or బళువుగా baluvu-gā. adv. Heavily. అతనికి ఒళ్లు బలువుగానున్ణది he is very ill. ఆ ఊరు బలువుగా కోసెడు ఉన్నది the village is fully two milles off. బలువుడు baluvuḍu. adj. Strong. బలముగల. n. A strong man, బలవంతుడు, బలియుడు.

(p. 1205) vekkasamu vekkasamu. [Tel.] n. Excess, an extreme. మిక్కుటము. Satiety, glut, fullness, gorge, plethore. Nausea, loathing, repugnance, disgust, dislike, చీదర, అసహ్యము, దుస్సహత్వము. వెక్కసములు vekkasamulu. n. plu. Disgusting words. దుస్సహవచనములు. 'చకోరకదంబంబుల వుక్కిళ్లకు వెక్కసంబై ముక్కులకు నెక్కి చిక్కంబడి.' Swa. iii. 37. adj. Excessive, extreme. అధికము. Loathesome, disgusting, దుస్సహము. Hard to get, దుర్లభము. వెక్కసపడు or వెక్కసమందు vekkasa-paḍu. v. a. To abhor, to loathe, చీదరపడు, అసహ్యపడు. 'వెక్కసమందుచుకురుపతి, రక్కసుతో ననియె.' M. VI. iii. 99. వెక్కసపాటు vakkasa-pāṭu. n. The act of being disgusted, loathing. వెక్కసించు or వెక్కసమగు vekka-sinṭsu. v. n. To be glutted, or gorged. To exceed, మిక్కుటమగు. 'కన్నులకు వెక్కసంబైన చెన్నుమిగిలి.' Ellana. ii. 114. To become loathesome, disgusting or unbearable, దుస్సహమగు. వెక్కసములాడు vekkasamu-l-āḍu. v. a. To scold, to abuse, తిట్టు. 'అందరుమీదబడి వెక్కసములాడి ప్రహరించి యిల్లువెడలింప.' Sar.
