(p. 173) ūca ūṭsa. [Tel.] n. The soft core of the plantain or similar tree. బొందె. A thorn bush. ముండ్ల దుబ్బ. ఉచకోతగా గొంతుకోసి వేసినాడు he cut the throat without any trouble. ఊచ ūṭsa. adj. Withered. ఊదకాలు a withered leg. ఊచచెయ్యి a withered hand. ఊచపట్టు to grow big enough for the core in a plant to form. ఊచపోవు to become lean. కృశించు. ఊచబియ్యము ūṭsa-biyyamu. n. Grain not quite ripe. బాగుగా ముదరని జొన్నలు మొదలైనవి, ఊచముట్టు ūṭsa-muṭṭu. adv. To the core entirely, wholly. 'ఉల్లమంత గడంచి యూచముట్టుగను కల్లలాడించిన గలదెపన్నిదము.' H. D. i. 252.

(p. 195) ēkāru ēkāru. [Tel.] v. i. To whimper, whine, fawn, long for. To languish, pine away. కృశించు, ఉడుగు. పాలకు ఏకారి ఉండే a child that is pining for milk 'వెతల నేకారుమదినిట్లువిటులజూచి.' H. ii. 112.

(p. 207) oguḍu oguḍu. [Tel.] n. Husk, straw of the great millet (జొన్న). A dry leaf of the millet జొన్నలోనగువాని యొక్క యెండిన ఆకు. ఆ యెద్దు ఒగుడు ఒల్చుకొని తిని దంటు పారవేసినది the bullock has eaten the dry leaves and left the stalk. ఒగడుకరుచు to become thin or lean కృశించు.

(p. 249) karagu or కరుగు karagu. [Tel.] v. n. To melt. ద్రవించు. To waste away, to be emaciated. కృశించు. To dissolve away. To be cut, as a bank by the stream. To go down or go off, as a boil. 'కరగ కరగ పుట్టు కనకంబునకు వన్నె.' (Vēma.) the oftener gold is melted the finer it becomes. అందుకు వాని మనస్సు కరిగినది at this his heart melted. కరగు, కరుగు, కరగించు, or కరిగించు v. a. To melt. కరగు n. Melting కరగుట.

(p. 307) kṛśiñcu kṛiṣinṭsu. [Skt.] v. n. To waste or pine away, to become thin. బక్కటిల్లు, సన్నగిలల్లు. కృశింపచేయు kṛiṣimpa-chēyu. v. a. To make thin. కృకోదరము a slender waist. M. I. iv. 49. కృశోదరి a slender waisted girl.

(p. 340) kṣīṇamu kshīṇamu. [Skt.] adj. Wasted, emaciated, decayed, exhausted, slender, thin. క్షయించిన, హీనమైన, కృశించిన, నశించిన, మదక్షీణోనాగః an elephant which is emaciated in its rut. క్షీణైపుణ్యేమర్త్యలోకంవిశంతి when their stock of merit [enjoyed by good men] is exhausted, they drop [in the shape of falling stars] again into mortal life. క్షీణపుణ్యులు those whose merit is exhausted. అక్షీణ undiminished. Vasu. i. 7. క్షీణము n. Decline, decay, decrease. క్షయము, తగ్గు. ఆయుఃక్షీణము the decline of one's age. ధనక్షీణము decrease of wealth. క్షీణత or క్షీణత్వము kshīṇata. n. Slenderness, thinness, emaciation, decay. కార్శ్యము, నాశము. క్షీణించు kshīṇinṭsu. v. n. To be wasted, emaciated, decayed. కృశించు, సన్నగిల్లు, నశించు, క్షీణమగు.

(p. 411) cikku or చిక్కుకొను chikku. [Tel.] v. n. To be found, to be caught, or ensnared. దొరకు. To remain, be left మిగులు. అది నాకు చిక్కినది I have got it. To stop or halt, to remain. వెనుకచిక్కు to remain behind, to fall in the rear. To grow thin or lean. కృశించు. చిక్కని సొమ్ముగానున్నది it is unattainable, it cannot be got. చిక్కించుకొను chikkinṭsu-konu. v. a. To get, obtain. చేతిలో చిక్కించుకొను to get into one's hands, to get hold of. వెతలచిక్కు to be seized with sorrow. ధైర్యము చిక్కనందున as I dared not do so. చిక్కినది the rest, the remainder. చిక్కిపోవు chikki-povu v. n. To become lean. చిక్కు n. A tangle, మెలి. A puzzle, perplexity, intricacy, confusion, entanglement, difficulty, distress, trouble. సంకటము, ఇబ్బంది. చిక్కులుపడు to be in distress or to get into difficulty సంకటపడు. చిక్కులబెట్టు to entangle, to involve, puzzle, to distress or harass; to pinch or stint. చిక్కతీయు to disentangle. చిక్కుగానున్నది it is puzzling. చిక్కుపడ్డ tangled or dishevelled as hair, చిక్కయిన. చిక్కుపాటు entanglement. చిక్కుపడుట, సంకటపడుట. చిక్కు adj. Puzzling, perplexing, entangled, intricate, confused, difficult, troublesome, baffled. చిక్కుజడలు tangled hair. చిక్కుకంపు a rancid smell (of oil .) చిక్కుతాళము. n. A lock with many wards, and which, like a patent lock, can only be opened by those who know it.

(p. 494) ḍīlu or డీలైన ḍīlu. [H. dhīla.] adj. Loose, lean, thin. కృశించిన, చిక్కిన. డీలించు to loosen, సడలించు, డీలజేయు.

(p. 569) trāḍu Same as తాడు a rope. A ray of light. కిరణము. త్రాడుదాలువు an epithet of Varuṇa వరుణుడు. త్రాడుపడు trāḍu-paḍu. v. n. To become lean as a thread, to become emaciated, కృశించు, దారమగు.

(p. 638) navayu or నవియు navayu. [Tel.] v. n. To languish, sink, perish, to fall away in flesh. రోగాదులచేత కృశించు, శుష్కించు. నవిసిన worn away, worn out. ఇట్లు నవిసి నవిసి చచ్చుచున్నాడు he is dropping into his grave.

(p. 760) pīke pīke. [Tel.] n. The wind-pipe, కంషనాళము. A pipe. The reed used in blowing musical instruments. ఊదువాద్యములలోని క్రోవిపుల్ల. గొంతుపీకె the windpipe. A leaf rolled up like a cigar, కాళెవలెచుట్టిన ఆకుచుట్ట. A cigar which is partly smoked and thrown away, తాగి మిగిలినచుట్ట. పీకె బిళ్లలు pīke-biḷḷalu. n. A kind of ornament attached to a bed. సకినెలు. పీకెపారు pīke-pāru. v. n. To become flat. చప్పటయగు. To become lean, కృశించు.
