(p. 584) davaḍa or దవుడ davaḍa. [Tel.] n. The jaw; the cheek. నన్ను దవడమీద కొట్టినాడు he slapped me on the cheek. దవడపండ్లు the jaw teeth or grinders.

(p. 631) naḍḍi naḍḍi. [Tel.] n. The bending of the body back-wards. శరీరము వెనుకకు వంగియుండుట. (The bending of the body forwards or being hump-backed is called గూను.) The small of the back, the hollow above the loins. నడ్డినీల్గ కొట్టినాడు or నడ్డివిరగ పొడిచినాడు he gave him a blow that broke his back. adj. Sunk in, depressed in the middle, crooked. నడ్డిముక్కు a turned up nose. నడ్డిగా నిలుచు to stand with the belly pushed out, and the back drawn in.

(p. 648) niṇḍu ninḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To be filled, to be full. పూర్ణమగు. నింట or నిండుట ninṭa. n. Fullness, as of water (జల) పూరము. నిండ, నిండా or నిండుగా ninḍa. adv. Fully. Much, entirely, utterly. Perfectly, నిండాదెబ్బలుకొట్టినాడు he struck many blows. నిండాదండములు పెట్టినాడు he offered many compliments. వాన నిండాకురిసినది it rained heavily. నిండా సంతోషించినాడు he was much pleased. నిండాభయపడిరి they feared greatly. నిండారు or నిండబడు ninḍ-āru. v. n. To be full. నిండారు or నిండు n. Fullness, completion. పూర్ణత్వము. నిండించు ninḍintsu. v. a. To fill. నిండు or నిండైన ninḍu. adj. Full, abundant, much. నిండు కుండ a full vessel. నిండుకుండ తొణకదు a full pot does not spill. నిండుమనిషి a pregnant woman. నిండుకొను ninḍu konu v. n. To be filled: (metaph.) to be pacified, to be silent. ఈవేళ నా యింట్లో నిండుకొని ఉన్నది a phrase meaning (by rule of contrary) I have nothing to eat or give.

(p. 684) nōru nōru. [Tel.] n. The mouth. నక్త్రము, ముఖద్వారము. G. నోటి, నోరి. Abl. నోట. Plu: నోళ్లు నోట with the mouth. నోరు ముయ్యి hold your tongue. నోరులేని dumb, unable to talk. నోరు లేనివాడు a simpleton. నోరుకొట్టు to strike on the mouth, i.e., to silence, check, rebuke; to deprive of one's rights or enjoyment, to plunder, spoil. నోరుకాచు to watch one's lips, to keep a secret. నోరుకట్టు to restrain the appetite. నోటిలో ఆడుచున్నది I have it at the tip of my tongue. వానినోరు మంచిదికాదు he is a foul mouthed fellow. పెద్దనోరుచేయు to talk loud or abusively. నోరుపడిన speechless. నోటిపేద foolish, ignorant, senseless. నోటిమాట a mere word of mouth. నోరుమెంగ nōru-menga. n. A dumb man. మూగవాడు. నోటికి వచ్చినట్టు తిట్టెను he gave them all the abuse that he could think of. నా నోట్లో మన్నుకొట్టినాడు he cast earth in my mouth, i.e., he destroyed my hopes or prospects. నోరూరు nōr-ūru. v. n. To water (as the mouth). To desire, అపేక్షించు. నా నోరూరుచున్నది my mouth waters. వానితో నీవు యేల నోరుచేసుకొంటావు why do you quarrel with him? నోరెత్తు nōr-ettu. v. n. To raise the voice, cry, speak. To try to speak, మాటడ యత్నించు. నోరాడు nōr-āḍu. (నోరు+ఆడు.) v. n. To utter. వానికి ఎటుల నోరాడెనో I can't think how his mouth could utter such words. 'చెయ్యప్పులనుచు నిచ్చినవారు కటువుగా నడుగ నుంకించి నోరాడకరుగ.' Suca. iii. 203.

(p. 767) puṇyamu puṇyamu. [Skt.] n. Virtue, holiness, merit, excellence, purity. ధర్మము. A good deed, a good or meritorious work or action, a work of supererogation, that which is more than required as a matter of duty. సుకృతము. adj. Virtuous, sacred, holy, pure, righteous. పవిత్రము. Good, excellent, మనోజ్ఞము. Charitable, generous. పుణ్యశ్లోకుడు a celebrated man. పుణ్యకథలు godly legends. పుణ్యకాలము an auspicious time. పుణ్యస్త్రీ (corrupted into పునిస్త్రీ) a happy woman, one whose husband is living. నన్ను ఉత్త పుణ్యానికి కొట్టినాడు he beat me without cause, meaning the same as నిష్కారణముగా. నీపుణ్యముచేత తొందరవచ్చినది (ironical) for this trouble we may thank you. ఇది అంతా మీ పుణ్యము this is all due to you goodness. నీపుణ్యముండును వాని జోలికిమాత్రము పోకు for goodness' sake do not meddle with him. పుణ్యానికి ఇచ్చినపొలము a field granted in free gift. A well known verse says. శ్లోకార్ధేన ప్రవక్ష్యామి యుదక్తం గ్రంథకోటిభిః, పరోపకారః పుణ్యాయపాపాయ పరపీడనం. పుణ్యజనుడు puṇya-januḍu. n. A man of excellence, a holy man, సుజనుడు. A Rākshasa, an evil spirit, రాక్షసుడు. పుణ్యజనేశ్వరుడు puṇya-janēṣvaruḍu. n. Kubēra. పుణ్యబూమి puṇya-bhūmi. n. The Holy land (of the Hindus), i.e., Hindustan, the land between the Himalayas and the Vindhyas. పుణ్యలోకము puṇya-lōkamu. n. Heaven. పుణ్యవంతుడు puṇya-vantuḍu. n. One who is holy or virtuous. ధార్మికుడు, అదృష్టవంతుడు. ఈ విషయములో అతడు చాలా పుణ్యవంతుడు. in this respect he is very lucky. పుణ్యస్త్రీ or పుణ్యాంగన puṇya-strī. n. A good housewife, good woman, lady. పుణ్యాత్ముడు puny-ātmuḍu. n. A holy, pious or charitable person, పుణ్యస్వరూపుడు. పుణ్యాహము puṇy-āhamu. n. A holy or sacred day, పుణ్యదినము. పుణ్యాహవాచనము puṇy-āha-vāchanamu. n. The consecration or hallowing of a ceremony. A ceremonial purification. పుణ్యుడు puṇyudu. n. A holy or virtuous man. పుణ్యులారా O holy men!

(p. 1106) lessa lessa. [Tel.] n. Good, well being, weal, a good state, health, right. శుభము, క్షేమము, బాగు, మంచి. plu. లెస్సలు. adj. Good, క్షేమయుక్తము. Excellent, శ్రేష్ఠము. Proper, యోగ్యము, శ్రేయస్కరము. అంతా లెస్సలా is all right? 'దేశభాషలందు తెనుగు లెస్స.' A. i. 18. 'అనినలెస్సగాకయనిధర్మనుతుడు.' (M. XV. ii. 195.) very well, said he. లెస్స or లెస్సగా adv. Well, properly. duly, Severely. దానిని లెస్సగా కొట్టినాడు he beat is soundly. లెస్సవాడు lessa-vāḍu. n. A proper or excellent man, యోగ్యుడు.

(p. 1195) visaru or విసురు visaru. [Tel.] v. n. To come out, బయలుపడు To blow, as the wind, to spread, as a scent. గాలికొట్టు, వీచు, వాసనకొట్టు. లోగా అణిగి ఉన్న రోగమును బైట విసిరేలాగు చేసేమందు a searching medicine, a medicine that makes a hidden disease appear. లోనికాక బైటికివిసిరినది the latent fever came out. v. a. To wave as a fan, to brandish, whisk, flourish, as a sword or a whip. ఆడించు. వీచు. To throw, fling, hurl, sling, రువ్వు. To turn, to grind. తిరుగలివిసరు to turn a mill. వలవిసరు to cast or let down a net. n. Waving, casting, spreading. ఆడించుట. వీచుట, వేయుట, వ్యాపించడము. కాటకపువిసరుచేత through the spreading of the famine. విసరురాయి visaru-rāyi. n. A grindstone. తిరుగలి. వసరియాడు Same as విసరు. విసరికొట్టు or విసరికొట్టు visari-koṭṭu. v. a. To fling, to dash. రువ్వు. To scorn, to huff. కసురు. ఒకడబ్బు ఇమ్మంటే మూతితో ముఖములో విసిరికొట్టుచున్నది he asked for a penny, she gave him a scolding. ఆ కుండను గోడమీద విసిరికొట్టినాడు he dashed the pot against the wall. విసరివేయు or విసిరివేయు visari-vēyu. v. a. To hurl, fling. రువ్వు. ఊరిబైట విసరివేసినట్టుగానుండే ఒకయిల్లు a house that seemed as if it had been thrown out of the town.
