Necessity, occasion, want, need, desire, అగత్యము. అక్కరతీర్చు to relieve from want. అది నాకక్కరలేదు I do not want it. దీనితో నీకేమి అక్కర what have you to do with this? నీవక్కడికి రావలసిన అక్కరయేమి what business had you to come there? అక్కరకొద్దీ మాట్లాడుట to speak as necessity demands. అది అక్కరకురాదు it will be of no use. వాడికి ఆ పని అక్కరపట్టలేదు he does not care for it. అక్కరకాడు one who is in need. అక్కరగలవాడు; అక్కరగండడు one who has an interest in an affair. శ్రద్ధగలవాడు; అక్కరపడు, అక్కరగొను to feel an interest in a thing. అక్కరకలిగియుండు, అక్కరపాటు a state of necessity. అక్కరపడుట.

(p. 49) anati an-ati. [Skt. neg. అన్+అతి prefix] adj. Not much, not excessive. మట్టుగా నుండే, కొద్దిపాటిగానుండే. అనతిదూరము not very distant, near.

(p. 94) avapātamu ava-pātamu. [Skt.] n. A pit concealed under leaves and earth to catch elephants. ఏనుగులు మొదలైన మృగములను పట్టుకొనుటకై త్రవ్వి మీడ కర్రలను కంపలను పరచి వాటి పైన కొద్దిగా మన్ను వేయబడిన గొయ్యి, ఓదము.

(p. 274) kārita kārita. [Skt.] n. An exorbitant rate of interest offered by a debtor. అప్పుతీసుకొనువాడు తన అక్కరకొద్దీ తానేయిచ్చెదననిన వడ్డీ.

(p. 318) koddi koddi. [Tel. short for కొలది.] n. A little, a trifle, something. adj. Little, small, few. Petty, trifling, slight, mean, base. కొద్ది పిచ్చివాడవుకావు you are no slight fool. కొద్దిగా in a slight degree. కొద్దిగొప్ప less or more. కొద్దిదినాలకు in a few days, in a short time. (Affix.) As, up to, according to, in proportion to, as much as, as far as. మీకుతోచినకొద్ది as much as you think proper. సమయముకొద్ది మనిషి a timeserver. వాని బలము కొద్దిచేసినాడు he did it as well as he could. కొద్దిమంది a few people.

(p. 323) koladi or కొద్ది koladi. [Tel.] n. Extent, measure, height, depth, limit. పరిమితి. Means, mode. Power, glory. శక్యము. 'తలపుకొలది బడదు దైవికమేకాని' (Vēma) not according to our will but as god wills. నీకొలదియెరుంగక in ignorance of thy power. ఏకొలదినైనా by all means. ఆయన చిత్తము కొలదియెరింగి in conformity with his pleasure. L. XVII. 136. 'నోటికొలందుల మాట్లాడి.' L. VII. 481. saying anything that came into his mouth. As an affix, కొలది or కొద్ది. In proportion to, according to, in conformity to. నాలుగు ఏండ్లకొలది చదివిరి they studied for four years. మోకాలికొలది నీరు water up to the knee. ఈకొలది thus far, so much, such. 'గుడ్లకొలదిగ కన్నీరు గ్రుక్కుకొనుచు.' Suca. iii. 156. R. v. 187. M. XII. i. 242.

(p. 626) naṃzu , నం౛ుకొను or నం౛ుకొను nanḍzụ. [Tel.] v. n. To eat by small morsels, to nibble, to pick at to eat a little of any thing like pickle, &c., as a relish the principal food. శూరలోనగువ్యంజనములను కొద్ధి కొద్దిగా తినుట నంజుకొనేవస్తువు a relish or thing so eaten. 'తచ్ఛాకంబునంజుచుం దలంచు కొనియె.' A. iv. 243. టీ నంజుచుం=ఆస్వాదించుచు, అనగా నంచుకొనుచు. 'చందుపుటంబులనంజనిచ్చుచున్.' Parij. iv. 27. నం౛ or నం౛ు nanḍza. n. A tart. నం౛ుకొను వస్తువు. A pickle, ఉపదంశము, ఊరుగాయ. Smacking with the lips, చప్పరించడము. నం౛ు nandzu. n. Poison. విషము. Beri-beri, blood poisoning, నెత్తురుచచ్చి తెల్లపారుట. A lingering, indolent or dormant disease. నంజకురువు an indolent ulcer. నంజు చిగురు a gum boil. నం౛ుడు nanḍzuḍu. n. Flesh, flesh meat. మాంసము, ఎరచి. పిల్లకాయకు నంజుడు పెరిగినది the boy has outgrown his age or strength. నం౛ుడుతిండి nanḍzuḍu-tinḍi. n. A flesh-eater, a carnivorous being. మాంసముతినువాడు. A demon, రాక్షసుడు. నం౛ుపారు nanḍzu-pāru. v. n. To becomne pale, through the blood having deteriorated; to become anaemic, నెత్తురు చచ్చి తెల్లపారు. వాని శరీరము నంజుపారినది he became anaemic. నం౛ులు nanḍzulu. n. Pickles or any thing eaten as a relish with food. 'మోనినంజులం జవిగొనుచుం గ్రోలిసోలి.' Parij. ii. 60. her lips being sauce for the dish.

(p. 734) pāṭi pāṭi. [Tel.] n. Degree, extent, quantity, size. ప్రమాణము. Value, character, quality, kind, sort. విధము. Fitness. Resemblance, equality, సామ్యము. adj. Equal, సమము. Common, general, సామాన్యము. Due, fit, న్యాయ్యము. Of such a size or character, కొలదిది. పాటికొల an exact measurement. ఈ పాటిచాలును so far will do, thus much is enough. 'పదుగురాడుమాట పాటియై ధరజెల్లు,' the words of many people will carry weight. ఈపాటికి వచ్చియుండును by this time he will have arrived. వానిపాటి యోగ్యత నీకు ఉండినను చాలును it will be enough if you are equal to him. ఏపాటి రూకలు how much money? అది ఒక పాటిగానున్నది it is tolerably good. పాటిరేవు a ford in a river. పాటినేల rich soil (see పాడు.) వీడు ఏపాటివాడు what kind of a man is he? సన్నపాటికర్ర a slender stick. తగుపాటి competent, fit, suitable. కొంచెపాటి small. కొంచెపాటివారు base men, low people. అల్పులు నీకు బుద్ధిచెప్పే పాటివాడు ఇక్కడ లేడు there is no one here fit to advise you. ఇది యేపాటిపని what sort of business is this? పాటిపాటిగా little by little, కొద్దికొద్దిగా. పాటిగొను pāṭi-gonu. v. a. To consider as equal, సరిచేయు.

An established moral or ceremonial custom, ఆచారము. A settled conclusion, a demonstration, a decision. A contract, engagement, covenant. A sign, సంకేతము. A school of philosophy, దర్శనము, మతము. A doctrine, సిద్ధాంతము, శివసమయము the Saivite sect. విష్ణుసమయము the Vaishnavite sect. సమయము చూస్తూ ఉన్నాడు he is looking for an opportunity. సమయములో సహాయము చేసినాడు he helped me in time of need. సమయపుసందుకట్టు a time of difficulty. సమయములో చెయ్యివిడుచు to forsake a man in the time of need. సమయమైనప్పుడు when an opportunity arises.నేను లేని సమయమునందు when I was absent. నాలుగు గంటలసమయమందు when it was about four o' clock. సమయముకొద్దీ మనిషి a time server, a fickle man. సమయస్ఫూర్తి a quick memory or understanding. సమయస్ఫూర్తిగలవాడు a quick-witted man. సమయమైన or సమయమగు samayam-aina. adj. Opportune, seasonable. యుక్తమైన. 'సమయంబగువేళ.' H. ii. 53. సమయపడు samaya-paḍu. v. n. To attempt, యత్నించు. To watch for an opportunity. To become opportune. To resolve on secrecy, సంకేతితమగు. 'సమయపడి వనవాసంబు చేయవచ్చితిమి.' భార. అర. సమయోచితము samay-ōchitamu. adj. Seasonable, suitable to the occasion, appropriate, కాలోచితమైన. సమయోచితమైన మాట a word in season, an appropriate word.

(p. 1313) sava sava. [Tel.] n. A trace. ౛ాడ. సవసవ sava-sava. n. A slight trace. చూచాయ. సవసవగా or సవసవలుగా adv. Slightly, indistinctly, half and half. కొద్దికొద్దిగా, ౛ాడ౛ాడగా, చూచాయగా, 'నాదౌష్ట్యంబు సవసవగా దెలిపి.' Swa. v. 32.

(p. 1374) svabhāvamu sva-bhāvamu. [Skt.] n. Nature, natural state, property, disposition, peculiarity, inclination, turn of mind. సహజమైన గుణము. కుటిల స్వభావుడు a man of crooked disposition. వాడు తన స్వభావమును విడువకపోయినాడు he did not abandon his natural disposition. తనస్వభావము కొద్దీ చేసినాడు he did it according to his own temper. స్వభావముగా sva-bhāvamu-gā. adv.
