The word క్రొత్త is contracted into క్రొత్త in compounds in the following hard or soft consonants in Telugu words are doubled as క్రొక్కన్ను (క్రొత్త+కన్ను), క్రొక్కారు (క్రొత్త+కారు), క్రొత్తావి (క్రొత్త+తావి) , క్రొన్నన (క్రొత్త+నన), క్రొన్నలుపు, క్రొన్నురుగు, క్రొన్నెత్తురు, క్రొన్నల, క్రొమ్ముడి, క్రొమ్మెరుగు. క్రొమ్మొన, క్రొవ్వాడి, క్రొవ్విరి. &c. In some cases, this change is made even when a Skt. word follows, as క్రొమ్మేఘములు (భీ. iii.) In some cases, again, when a hard consonant follows, క్రొత్త is contracted into క్రొం where the సున్న stands for the letter ను but the succeding consonant is not doubled but changed into a soft one, as క్రొం౛ాయ, క్రొంజెమట, క్రొందమ్మి, క్రొంబసిడి, క్రొంబొగ, &c.

Also, a torch, దివిటీ. పోకపొత్తి the coat or skin covering the upper part of an areca tree. అరిటిపొత్తి the coat or skin on a plantain tree. పొడుముపొత్తి a snuff box, (literally, a piece of bark folded to contain snuff.) పొత్తి or పొత్తిగుడ్డ baby linen. పొత్తినూలు fibres used in garments made of bark. M. XII. vi. 221. పొత్తిపంచ bombasine cloth, woven of silk mixed with cotton. పొత్తిక pottika. n. Same as పొత్తి. Doll's clothes, a gaudy dress for an idol or for a little girl. 'బొమ్మపొత్తికలడిగితికొమ్మ యిందమనుచునిచ్చె తాదెచ్చిన యుంబరములు.' M. IV. v. 308. పొత్తికడుపు potti-kaḍupu. n. The abdomen, or belly below the navel. వస్తి, క్రీగడుపు. పొత్తిగడ్డ potti-gaḍḍa. n. A certain medicinal root called కరికారి, విశల్య, పొత్తిదుంప. పొత్తిచీర potti-chīra. n. Cloth made from the fibres of the bark of certain trees. నారచీర. పొత్తితామర potti-tāmara. n. A species of the lotus flower which does not open wide, ముడుగుతామర, నమస్కారి. పొత్తినూలు potti-nūlu. n. Silk thread. పొత్తినూలికాయ or పొత్తినూలిగూడు potti-nūli-kāya. n. A cocoon. పొత్తిలి pottili. n. Baby linen. పొత్తిగుడ్డలు. 'లీలబొత్తిలిమీద లేచి కుర్చుండుచో తద్దయునొక క్రొత్తముద్దుచెలువు.' KP. vi. 207. పొత్తిలి సొర or నల్లదిండి pottili-sora. n. A kind of gourd, Rhynchobatus ancylostomus.

(p. 817) pōzu or ప్రో౛ు pōḍzu. [Tel.] v. a. To clean or prepare cotton with the hands for spinning. 'పత్తిని ప్రోజుచున్ వడికి బ్రాహ్మణుడిచ్చు పవిత్రతంతువుల్ క్రొత్తిగ నేకవింశతియు గూర్చి.' UH. iv. 76.

(p. 878) bārakamu or భారకము bārakamu. [from Skt. భారము.] n. Weight, heaviness; a burden, load.బరువు. A crisis, ముమ్మరము. జ్వరము నిండా బారకముగానున్నది the fever is at its height or crisis. బారకించు or భారకించు bārakinṭsu. v. n. To become severe, as fever. బారమగు. నాకు ఒళ్లు బారకించులాగున నున్నది I have a prospect of illness. బారకాడి bāra-kāḍi. n. A break, or yoke in which bullocks are trained. క్రొత్త యెద్దును పాతయెడ్లతో కట్టేకాడి. బారవట్టె or వారపట్టె bāra-paṭṭe. n. A chief beam lying on pillars.
