Male. మగ. గండుమూతి a grim face. గండీగ a large fly. గండుచీమ the large black ant. గండుచేప the carp which is proverbial for vigour and activity. గండుమీనుల వంటి వీక్షణములు eyes that glance bright like dolphins గండుపిల్లి a tom cat. పిల్లికూనగండాయెను the young kitten turned into a tom cat. గండు among tradesmen is a cant word for వరహా a pagoda. Thus in arithmetic గ1 is one pagoda; గగ one thousand pagodas. గండడగు ganḍaḍagu. [గండు+అడగు.] v. n. To lose heart or courage పరాక్రమహీనుడగు. (హరి. ఉ. ii.) To die చచ్చు. (Vasu. iv.) గండాడు ganḍāḍu. [గండు+ఆడు.] v. n. To have sexual intercourse. రమించు. గండుకరణము ganḍ-karaṇamu. n. The bird called the Green Barbet. Thereiceryx Zeylonicus (F.B.I.) (Jerdon's Catal. No. 217.) గండుడు ganḍuḍu. [Skt.] n. A courageous man, a hero. శూరుడు.

(p. 916) bhakṣiñcu bhakshinṭsu. [Skt.] v. a. To eat, to feed on, తిను, భక్షణముచేయు. భక్షణము bhakshaṇamu. n. Eating, తిను, భక్షణముచేయు. భక్షణము bhakshakuḍu. n. One who eats. తినువాడు, తిండిపోతు. భక్షణీయము bhakshaṇīyamu. adj. Fit to be eaten, తినదగినది. భక్షితము bhakshitamu. adj. Eaten, తినబడిన. భక్ష్యము bhakshyamu. adj. Fit to be eaten, తినదగిన. n. An eatable, తినుబండము. A cake or sweetmeat. పంచభక్ష్యములు five kinds of eatables, viz. భక్ష్యము, భోజ్యము, లేహ్యము, చోష్యము, పానీయము. భక్ష్యకారుడు one who makes sweetmeats, పిండి వంటచేయువాడు.

(p. 922) bhikṣa or భిక్షము bhiksha. [Skt.] n. Alms, బిచ్చము. Hire, wages, కూలి. A boon, a great favour. దీన్నిభిక్షణముగా అడుగుతున్నాను I entreat this as a boon or particular favour. పతిభిక్ష entreaty for the restoration of a husband. BD. iv. 1347. వాడు పెట్టినది భిక్షగానున్నది his pleasure is law, he is all powerful. భవతీ భిక్షాందేహి give me an alms. భిక్షకుడు bhikshakuḍu. (corruption of భిక్షకుడు.) n. A beggar. భిక్షించు bhikshinṭsu. v. n. &a. To beg, take alms. 'సరసిజభవుజడల్ జన్నిదంబులుగ, బరగభీక్షించిన బ్రాహ్మణుండతడు.' BD. iv. 112.

(p. 1013) muhūrtamu muhūrtamu. [Skt.] n. Time; a division of time; a moment; the thirtieth part of a day and night, an hour of fortyeight minutes. కాలము. అల్పకాలము, పండ్రెండు క్షణముల కాలము, ద్విఘటికా కాలము, రెండుగడియల కాలము.

A symptom, an indication; a characteristic, attribute, quality; a predicate, any thing by which an object is designated, or distinguished. పీరు. A rule of art or science. విధి. Hand-some, beautiful అందమైన లక్షణయా lakshaṇayā. adv. Metaphorically. లక్షము lakshamu. n. A butt, mark, or aim. గురి. లక్షించు or ఆలక్షించు lakshinṭsu. v. a. (p. 1187) vilakṣaṇamu or విలక్షణత vi-lakshaṇamu. n. Difference. భేదము. 'శక్రాదులందు నొకడు గాడనుచుశ్రుతియేవిలక్షణతదెలిపె.' A. iii. 13. టీ విలక్షణత, వైలక్షణ్యము. విలక్షణము vi-lakshaṇamu. adj. Handsome, beautiful, elegant, excellent, select. విశేషలక్షణముగల, సుందరమైన, ఉత్తమమైన, దివ్యమైన, యోగ్యమైన ఇది విలక్షణమైనపడుచు she is a handsome girl. విలక్షణముగా vi-lakshaṇamu-gā. adv. Properly, with propriety, handsomely, excellently. చక్కగా, అందముగా, దివ్యముగా. ఆ పెండ్లి విలక్షణముగా జరిగినది that marriage went off very well. విలక్షణుడు vi-lakshaṇuḍu. n. One who is highly accomplished, a model of excellence. One who differs from the common order, one who has some distinguishing qualities, భిన్నుడు, ఉత్కృష్టుడు. వాడు విలక్షణూడుకాడు he is not a man of strict religious habits. 'వీనికత్యంత విలక్షణుండునునక్షయుండును నట్లగుట నింతయనర్థమూలంబగు.' A. iii. 82.

(p. 1192) viśēṣamu vi-ṣēshamu. [Skt.] n. Sort, kind, species, variety, భేదము, విధము. A particularity, speciality, peculiarity, singularity. A specific quality, a distinguishing property, a characteristic. A particular thing, an individual, an object distinguished by some attribute or adjunct. Merit, excellence; something noteworthy or distinguished, a remarkable occurrence, news. చూడదగిన యుత్తమవస్తువు. అతిశయము, వింత, వింతరూపము. A charitable or virtuous action. సత్కార్యము, పుణ్యము. ఈ వైద్యునికి హస్తవిశేషముకద్దు this doctor has a fortunate hand. ఓషధివిశేషము a sort of herb. అక్షక్రీడావిశేషము a kind of diceplay. నేడేమివిశేషము what is there particular to-day? What is the matter to-day? ఆయన విశేషజ్ఞుడు he is a great scholar. adj. Extraordinary, eminent, remarkable, unusual. Much, more, abundant, greater, exceeding, surpassing. అతిశయమైన, వింతైన, అత్యంతమైన. విశేషమైన కార్యము a good deed. ఈ శ్లోకమునకు ఒక విశేషార్థమున్నది this verse has a secondary or recondite meaning. విశేషణము vi-ṣēshanamu. n. (In grammar). An adjective. విశేష్యలక్షణములనుచెప్పేది, గుణవాచకశబ్దము. విశేషించు vi-ṣēshinṭsu. v. n. To excel. అతిశయించు. విశేషించి or విశేషముగా vi-ṣēshinchi. adv. Abundantly, plentifully, much, exceedingly. తరచుగా, విస్తారముగా, మిక్కిలి, మిగుల. అతనితో విశేషించి సహవాసము చేయవద్దు you should not associate much with him. 'ఈ యత్రికుమారునింబోషించెదవిశేషించినేట నుండియు బ్రాణపదంబుగాగారవించెద.' T. ii. 178. విశేష్యము vi-ṣēshyamu. n. (In grammar), a noun or substantive. నామవాచకపదము, వస్తువాచకశబ్దము.
