(p. 39) aṇagu aṇagu. [Tel.] v. n. To be suppressed, humbled, abated, quelled or calmed. To be ruined; to be concealed. మట్టుపడు, శాంతించు, నశించు, దాగు అణగగొట్టు aṇga-goṭṭu. [Tel.] v. a. To beat down, suppress, crush. Subdue, keep under, control. కుంగగొట్టు, క్షీణింపచేయు. అణచు or అణుచు aṇaṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To depress, humble, abate, quench. To ruin, destroy. క్రిందికి అదుము, శాంతిపొందించు, నశింపచేయు.

(p. 82) arugu arugu. [Tel.] v. n. To go, pass, proceed, walk. To digest as food. To be worn away by being used or rubbed; waste away. వెళ్లు, జీర్ణమగు, క్షీణించు, క్షయించు. అరగతీయు araga-tīyu. v. a. To rub off. అరుగుడు aruguḍu. n. The act of wearing away; attrition శిథిలము అరుగుదెంచు or అరుదెంచు arugu-denṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To come. వచ్చు. To go. పోవు. 'పరమధర్మాత్ముల భార్యాసమేతులనపహసింప దలంచియరుగుదెంచె.' M. iii. 5. 455. ఆరుదేడు he will not come 'అయ్యమరులు దివినుండి నేలకరు దేనేలా.' R. iii. 22. అరుగుపడు arugu-paḍu. v. i. To wear away, క్షయించు, నశించు, హీనమగు.

(p. 339) krāmamu kshāmamu. [Skt.] n. A famine, scarcity of provisions. కరువు, దుర్భిక్షము. adj. Slender slim, emaciated. క్షీణమైన, కృశమైన, సన్నమైన.

(p. 339) kṣayamu kshayamu. [Skt.] n. Decrease, perishing, wasting, consumption. క్షీణించడము, తక్కువకావడము, క్షయరోగము, అరుగుతెపులు. క్షయరోగము kshaya-rōgamu. n. Consumption, Phthisis. క్షయించు kshayinṭsu. v. n. To diminish, waste, wane. క్షీణించు, తగ్గు.

(p. 340) kṣīṇamu kshīṇamu. [Skt.] adj. Wasted, emaciated, decayed, exhausted, slender, thin. క్షయించిన, హీనమైన, కృశించిన, నశించిన, మదక్షీణోనాగః an elephant which is emaciated in its rut. క్షీణైపుణ్యేమర్త్యలోకంవిశంతి when their stock of merit [enjoyed by good men] is exhausted, they drop [in the shape of falling stars] again into mortal life. క్షీణపుణ్యులు those whose merit is exhausted. అక్షీణ undiminished. Vasu. i. 7. క్షీణము n. Decline, decay, decrease. క్షయము, తగ్గు. ఆయుఃక్షీణము the decline of one's age. ధనక్షీణము decrease of wealth. క్షీణత or క్షీణత్వము kshīṇata. n. Slenderness, thinness, emaciation, decay. కార్శ్యము, నాశము. క్షీణించు kshīṇinṭsu. v. n. To be wasted, emaciated, decayed. కృశించు, సన్నగిల్లు, నశించు, క్షీణమగు.

(p. 524) tāru tāru. [Tel.] v. n. To roam, rove, stroll, saunter, run about, loiter. సంచరించు. To go. పోవు. To meet. కదియు. To lurk, lie in wait. మరుగుపడు. To dance attendance. (p. 814) polla or పొల్లకట్టు polla. [Tel.] n. Pithless or blasted grain. గిం౛ పట్టనిధాన్యము. బూగరపొల్లు, నిప్సారమైన ధాన్యము. 'కళ్లానశూర్పవాత ఘట్టవలబారి చనుపొల్ల కట్టువోలె.' A. iv. 14. A useless person, వ్యర్థుడు. adj. Useless, rejected, వ్యర్థము, విసర్జింపబడిన, పొల్లపడు or పొల్లపోవు polla-paḍu. v. n. To become useless, వ్యర్థమగు. To deteriorate or decrease, తగ్గు, క్షీణించు. పొల్లపుచ్చు polla-puṭsṭsu. v. a. To cause to decrease, తగ్గించు, క్షీణింపజేయు.

(p. 837) prayōgamu pra-yōgamu. [Skt.] n. An application, use or employment, as of a weapon, tool, word, or a spell. Administration of a medicine, నడుపుట. A usage. In grammar, a voice. కర్తృ కర్మ క్రియల కూడిక. మహాబిల్వాదిప్రయోగము a prescription of Bilwa and other drugs. దీనికి కాళిదాస ప్రయోగమున్ణది Kalidasa has used this word. యక్షీణీప్రయోగముచేయు to bewitch or send a devil into (a person.) ఈ ఔషధప్రయోగముచేసినాడు he administered this medicine. విషప్రయోగముచేసి చంపినాడు he killed him by means of poison. బాణప్రయోగముచేసినాడు he used an arrow, i.e., discharged it. ప్రయోగించు pra-yōginṭsu. v. a. To use, practise, administer; use, as a weapon. ఉపయోగించు. ప్రయోజకుడు pra-yōjakuḍu. n. One who uses. The original instigator of any act. A clever man, a genius. కార్యమును నెరవేర్చువాడు. వాడు శుద్ధ అప్రయోజకుడు he is quite a useless person. ప్రయోజనము pra-yōjanamu. n. Use, advantage, profit. A thing to be kept or observed, as a holy day, or a feast పండుగ. An affair, business. కార్యము. A cause, motive. హేతువు. శుభప్రయోజనము a happy occasion (as a wedding.) రేపు మాయింట్లో కొంచెము ప్రయోజనము గనుక రావడానికి వల్లలేదు I cannot come to-morrow as there are some rites to be observed at home. అక్కడికి నీవుపోయినందుకు ఏమి ప్రయోజనము what is the use (good, or advantage) of your going there? ప్రయోజనప్రస్తుతములకు వారిని మేముపిలువడములేదు we do not invite them to parties. In Grammar, ప్రయోజ్యకర్త the indirect agent (in the instrumental case.) ప్రయోజకకర్త the direct agent (in the nominative case.)

(p. 1253) śīrṇamu ṣīrṇamu. [Skt.] adj. Thin, slender, emaciated, lean; dry, withered, decay. కృశమైన, క్షీణమైన, శుష్కమైన.

(p. 1288) saggu or స్రగ్గు saggu. [Tel.] v. n. To decrease, grow less, abate, be diminished; to sink, go down. To die, మట్టుపడు, క్షీణించు, అడగు, తగ్గు, చచ్చు. 'ఆపత్సంపదలలతుల బ్రాపింపవుఘనులగాని స్రగ్గున్ బొడవై చూపట్టు చంద్రుడు.' P. ii. 30. జ్వరముసగ్గినది the fever is subdued. భారముసగ్గినది the load is lightened.

(p. 1304) samētamu samētamu. [Skt.] adj. Having, possessed of, accompanied by. కూడుకొన్న, సహితమైన, కల. సమేతము or సమేతముగా adv. With, together with, along with. సహితముగా, కూడా. సమేతు samētu. [for సమేతము.] adv. Even. సహితము, కూడా. అన్నానికి సమేతులేదు I have not got even food to eat. సమేతుడు samētuḍu. n. One who is accompanied by, attended by; he who has or is possessed of, సహితుడు, కలవాడు, కూడుకొన్నవాడు. సేనా సమేతుడైవచ్చెను he came with his troops. 'అక్షీణో త్సాహసమేతులై.' M. I. ii. 13. 'యామగణసమేతుడైమహాభయంబుతోడ.' (Vish. ii. 58.) attended by goblins and inspiring fear.

(p. 1372) sraggu or సగ్గు sraggu. [Tel.] v. n. To go off, diminish, be abated; to pine, to become thin; to die. తగ్గు, క్షీణించు, చచ్చు, నశించు. 'ఆపత్సంపదలలతుల బ్రాపింపవుఘనులగాని స్రగ్గున్ బొడవైచూపట్టుచంద్రుడు.' P. ii. 30.

(p. 1372) srukku srukku. [Tel.] v. n. To withdraw from. వెనుదీయు. To be afraid of, భయపడు. To close (as a flower), ముడుగు. To be folded, to be crumpled, as skin, ముడతపడు. To be diminished, తగ్గు, క్షీణించు. To be sorrowful, to grieve, దుఃఖించు, చింతించు, To faint, languish, ముర్ఛిల్లు, సొక్కు, సొమ్మసిల్లు. To hesitate, సంకోచించు. To fade, వాడు. To surround, encircle, చుట్టుకొను. n. Entanglement, a tangle. చిక్కు. Sorrow, grief, దుఃఖము, శోకము. A fold of the skin on the stomach, కడుపుమీదిముడుత. 'చరణాహతి కోరువలేకయేగతిన్ స్రుక్కెనొ.' Vasu. ii. 11. 'విషాదాదరతన్ స్రుక్కు.' M. XII. v. 160. స్రుక్కబడు srukka-aḍu. v. n. To grieve, దుఃఖించు. స్రుక్కించు sruk-kinṭsu. v. a. To make faint or fatigued, to fatigue, to weaken, సొక్కించు, బలహీనముచేయు. స్రుక్కుచేప srukku-chēpa. n. A sort of fish. మత్స్యభేదము.

(p. 1383) hariñcu or హరియించు harinṭsu. [Skt.] v. n. To be digested, to waste away, to perish, go off or disappear, as a disease, to subside, క్షయించు, క్షీణించు, జీర్ణించు, అడగు. భేదికియిచ్చిన ఔషధము హరించిపోయినది the medicine was carried off. i.e., the medicine did no good. v. a. To counteract, expel, as an antidote does; to carry off. To take by violence, usurp, plunder, rob, steal, kill, destroy. దోచుకొను, దొంగిలించు, చంపు, నాశముచేయు, అడచు. మజ్జిగ మామిడి పండ్ల విషమును హరించును butter-milk counteracts the bad effects of mangoes. 'చోరవృత్తిని హరించి తముంగొని పోవుచుండగా.' N. i. 239. హరణము hara-ṇamu. n. Seizing, taking away forcibly, removing, carrying or bearing off; as of pain, &c. Stealth, theft, rape. Lapse or passing of time. నివారణము. హరించుట. గ్రహణము. A special gift or bonus: a nuptial present, అరణము, అల్లునికి కూతురికి. అరణము, అల్లునికి కూతురికి ఇచ్చినసొమ్ము. భుక్తికైనాహరణభరణ శక్తి చూచినాను I did to the best of my power to gain my bread. మిక్కిలి కాలహరణ మయినది there has been much loss of time. ఆ సొమ్మును చెల్లించకుండా కాలహరణము చేయుచున్నాడు he is putting off the payment of the money. వాడు ఊరక కాలహరణము చేస్తున్నాడు he is wasting the time. హరింపు harimpu. n. Waste, loss, embezzlement, abstraction. నాశము, నష్టము, దోపిడి, అపహారము. హరింపులోకితెచ్చు to digest, జీర్ణించు. హరికుడు hari-kuḍu. n. A thief, a gambler. తస్కరుడు, ద్యూతకారుడు. హరికప్రయోగము gambling, ద్యూతము. 'రాజమృగాదిముఖబంధనంబును హరిక ప్రయోగంబును.' G. ix. 177.
