(p. 442) camaru or చమురు ṭsamaru. [Tel.] v. n. To give a slap with the palm of the hand. అరచేతకొట్టు. To slay. చంపు. v. a. To rub. రాచు. రెండుగట్టులుం ౛ుమురుకొని rubbing, or in collision with both banks. n. Grease Clarified butter, any oily fluid or greasy liquid. కైపుచమరు milk punch. చమురుపోతు (G. i. 102.) a fat beast.

(p. 432) cevi chevi. [Tel.] n. An ear. A key. మాట చెవినిపెట్టు to give ear to, to hearken. చెవులు గడియలు పడ్డవి his ears were ringing through faintness. పత్రముయొక్క చెవి the tip or margin of a written bond. పత్రపు చెవి చించు to cancel a bond by tearing the leaf so as to disengage it from the cord on which palm leaf volumes are strung. చెవికొన or చెవికొణక the tip of the ear. చెవిటి cheviṭi. [చెవి+అవిటి.] adj. Deaf. n. A deaf man. బథిరుడు. చెవిటివ్యవహారము an unspeakable or unutterable iniquity, lit. one which makes one story one's ears. చెవిటిమూగ cheviṭi-mūga. n. A deaf mute. చెవుడును మూగతనమును గలవాడు. చెవినిల్లుగట్టుకొని చెప్పు to reiterate a precept, as though keeping ti always dwelling in the ear. Mrityanjaya Vilasam ii. 38.--40. 'నిచ్చలు చెవినిలల్లుగట్టుకొని చాటితి నన్నుగణింప వైతిపెన్బలియుని తోడి పోరిది.' Rāghava Pāndaviyam. iv. 52. Vēma. iii. 2. P. i. 533. చెవియాకు or చెవ్వాకు chevi-y-āku. n. An ear ornament చెవికట్టు chevi-kaṭṭu. n. The iron ring on an axle tree. చెవుడు (చెవి+అవుడు) chevuḍu. n. Deafness. (The inflected form is చెవిటి.) చెవుడుపడు chevuḍu-paḍu. v. n. To become deaf. చెవుడుపరుచు to deafen. చెవులపిల్లి chevula-pilli. n. The black-naped Hare, Lepus nigricollis. (F.B.I.) కుందేలు. చెవులపోతు chevula-pōtu. n. A buck hare కుందేలు, శశకము.

(p. 503) taṭṭu taṭṭu. [Tel.] v. n. To occur or happen, to break out. కలుగు. నాకు సంశయముతట్టినది a doubt occurred to me. అది నామనసుకు తట్టలేదు it did not occur to my mind. అది నాకు నిజమని తట్టలేదు it does not strike me as true. v. a. To strike, beat, knock, pat, clap, slap. చరచు. To touch. ముట్టు. To do away with. remove, or dispel (as darkness.) కత్తిదెబ్బ కేడెముతో తట్టినాడు he averted the blow. తట్టివేయు to remove. సరితట్టు to compare with the original, to fill up what was wanting. నీళ్లు ఎగదట్టినవి the water rose to the brink, ఆ ఓడ గట్టుతట్టినది the ship ran ashore. తట్టుపునుగు carefully selected musk. n. A side, direction. పార్శ్వము. మీదితట్టు the top: the upper side. కింది తట్టు the under side: the bottom. A bank or shore దరి. A swelling, an inflammation. Chicken pox తట్టమ్మ. రాజ్యము వానితట్టు చేసినాడు they delivered the kingdom to him. అందరమొకతట్టు దిగితిమి we all went over to one side. ఆ పని తట్టుపడినది that work is laid aside. the ship got aground. తట్టుతీయు to flute wood, or make a groove. వానికి తట్టుపోసినది he has got the chicken pox. తట్టుకొను taṭṭu-konu. v. n. To go along. దొరికినమట్టుకు తట్టుకొని పోయెను he ran off with whatever he could get. To pause, delay, take time, hesitate. తట్టుపడు to suffer బాధపడు. తట్లాట taṭlāṭa. n. A squabble.

(p. 628) nagamu nagamu. [Skt.] n. Lit: That which is immovable. A hill, కొండ. A tree, చెట్టు. నగధరుడు lit: one who carries a hill, i.e., Vishṇu. గట్టుతాలుపు. నగవైరి lit: an enemy to mountains, i.e., Indra, ఇంద్రుడు, నగాధిపుడు lit: the lord of the mountains, i.e., Himalaya, హిమవంతుడు. నగౌకసము a bird, పక్షి.

(p. 712) paragaḍa or పరగడము paragaḍa. [Tel.] n. Another place, ఇతరస్థలము. A side, పార్శ్వము. A field outside of a village. ఊరిబైటిపొలము, బీడు, నెత్తము. పరగడ paragaḍa. adv. (affix.) Off, from, aside. బహిరర్థము, అవతల. ఊరిపరగడ outside the village. పరగడబెట్టి. అనగా బైటపెట్టి 'వెరవకుమంచుదేర్చి యదువీరుడునల్గడ జూడ గట్టుదా, పరగడనిల్చి.' N. ix. 138. టీ కొంచెము అవతలగానిలిచి. plu. పరగళ్లు. A. iv. 54. పరగడగా paragaḍa-gā. adv. Indirectly, apart మేము పరగడగా విన్న సమాచారము the news we received indirectly. వారు పరగడగా నిలిచిరి they stood apart.

(p. 816) pōgu pōgu. [Tel.] n. A thread, a string. తంతువు, దారము. A heap, a crowd, an assembly. ప్రోగు, కుప్ప, సమూహము. An ear-ring. పురుష కర్నాభరణము. ముక్కుపోగు a nose-ring. కుట్టుపోగు a wire placed in the ear preparatory to an ear-ring. పోగుపోయు or పోగుతీయు to darn. పోగుత్రాడు pōgu-trāḍu. n. A kind of net composed of lines or cords laid by huntsman as a snare. 'పండినచేలకునరాహ పంఙ్త్కులు చొరరా, కుండ న్దెలనిచామరఖండంబులు పోగుద్రాళ్లు గట్టుదురెరుకుల్.' Kālahas. iii. 11. పోగుచేయు pōgu-chēyu. v. a. To collect, to accumulate, to put together. పోగువారు pōgu-vāru. (పోగు+పారు.) v. n. To surround with a cord. To surround, ఆవరించు.

(p. 819) pōyu pōyu. [Tel.] v. n. To arise, to be born or produced, పుట్టు, చెమటపోయు to perspire, చెమటపట్టు. చీముపోయు to suppurate as a boil, చీముపట్టు. వానికి యింకా అమ్మవారు పోయలేదు he has never had the small-pox. v. a. To pour, as water. To cast in metal or found. To fit on, as a halter as ఉరిపోయు. To place an arrow in a bow (బాణమును) సంధించు or కూర్చు. అమ్మవారు నిన్న సేతులుపోసినది the small pox came to a head yesterday. కట్టపోసినారు they built a bank. నారుపోయు to sow seed, which is afterwards to be transplanted. ఆకుపోయు to transplant rice. గోడపెట్టి ముదురుపోసినాడు he built a wall and placed a cope upon it. తలబ్రాలు పోసినది she poured the blessed grain upon their heads (in marriage.) ఉచ్చపోయు to make water, to pass urine. వడపోయు or వడకట్టు to strain rice, &c. ఉరిపోయు to cast a noose. వృథాగా నా ఉసురుపోసుకొన్నాడు he has injured me without any cause. పురుడుపోసేనిమిత్తము దానిని పుట్టింటికి తీసుకొని వచ్చినారు they brought her home to lie in. వాడు దానిని నోట్లో పోసుకొన్నాడు he poured it into his mouth. ఆ చిన్నది వానిని నీళ్లు పోస్తున్నది the girl is bathing him. ఆమె చెట్లకు నీళ్లుపోస్తున్నది she is watering the trees. బిచ్చమెత్తి పొట్టపోసు కొంటున్నాడు he fills his belly by begging. ఆసుపోసినది she placed the thread in readiness for weaving. పోయించు pōyinṭsu. v. a. To cause to cast or pour; to erect. గట్టుపోయించు to raise a bank. విగ్రహములు పోయించిరి they had some statues cast.

(p. 985) miḍi miḍi. [Tel. from మిడియు.] n. Pride, insolence, మిడిసిపాటు, గర్వము. adj. Proud, insolent, మిడిసపాటుగల. High, raised, ఉన్నతము. మిడిపండ్లు projecting teeth, మిట్టపండ్లు. Sharp, hot, తీక్ష్ణము. మిడిమాధ్యాహ్నము midday, noon. మిడిముళ్లు spurs. మిడికించు miḍi-kinṭsu. v. n. To blink (the eyes), మిణకరించు. 'కమలుమిడికించునుగుడ్లగూబరీతి.' S. iii. 32. blinking like an owl. మిడిగుడ్లు miḍi-guḍlu. n. Large prominent eyes. మిడిగుడ్లవాడు a man with large eyes. మిడిగొను miḍi-gonu. v. n. To glitter, to flash. మెరయు. 'మిడిగొనుపైడిచేకటులు, మేలిమినూలుదండ.' H. iv. 101. మిడినాగు or మిణ్నాగు miḍi-nāgu. n. A springing serpent. The adder. చివుక్కున ఎగిరిపడే సర్పము. మిడిసి మిణ్నాగువలె పడుతాడు he is as proud as a serpent.మిడిపోవు miḍi-pōvu. v. n. To lose brilliance, become blunt, to be spoiled, ౛బ్బుపడు. To become less. To be an exception, తక్కు. To avoid, తొలగు. 'మిగులనొచ్చియు వాడు మిడివోనికడిమి.' HD. i. 2019. మిడినల్లి or మిణ్నల్లి miḍi-nalli. n. A flea. మిడిమేలుపు miḍi-mēlapu. adj. Pragmatic, hot headed, haughty. తలకొట్లమారియైన. తలకొవ్విన. 'అడిగినజీతంబియ్యని మిడిమేలపుదొరనుగొలిచి మిడుకుటకంటెన్. వడిగలయెద్దులగట్టుక మడిదున్నుక బ్రతుకవచ్చు మహిలోసుమతీ.' Sumati Satakam. మిడిమేలము miḍi-mēlamu. n. Insolence, haughtiness, మిడసిపాటు. 'మగువలుమగలని యెరుగడు, మృగములకోరసిలడేమి మిడిమేలమితండగపడుననితలచితిమే.' R. ii. 112. మిడియ miḍiya. n. A word of the Veda, వేద వాక్యము. 'క తలచియపుడందొకింతయు దొలుతటితరవాతి మిడియదోచకమరియె వ్వలనరసినశ్రుతిశబ్దము పలకునకున్ రాక పెగడుపరచినగలకన్.' పర. ii. మిడియు miḍiyu. v. n. To flash or fly off as a chip of wood or a drop of water. ఎగురు. ఆ రాతిచెక్క మిడిసిపడినది the chip of the stone leaped out and fell down. మిడివిల్లు miḍi-villu. n. A pellet bow, ఉండవిల్లు. 'తడియుచుకైతవతరుణియెక్కిన మిడివింటిగతినున్న మెలతలుడాసి.' Dab. 170. మిడిసిపడు miḍisi-paḍu. v. n. To bounce, leap; to be insolent, మిట్టిపడు, త్రుళ్లిపడు. మిడిసిపడి చచ్చినాడు he suddenly fell down dead. మిడిసిపాటు miḍisi-pāṭu. n. Bouncing, exultation, pride, త్రుళ్లుట.

(p. 1084) reḍḍigamu reḍḍigamu. [Tel.] n. Sitting on the floor, with one knee up and a cloth round it and round the body in a knot. ఒకకాలు మడుచుకొని దానిని అంగవస్త్రముతో నడుమునకు బిగియగట్టుకొని కూర్చుండుట. రెడ్డి గమువేసికొను to sit in this posture.

(p. 1310) sarudu or సర్దు sarudu. [Tel.] v. a. To make even, or level. To eke out or shift with; to make a little go a good way. To arrange, సమముచేయు, చాలీచాలక ఉండే దానిని నలుగురికి సమముగా పంచిపెట్టు, క్రమపరుచు. సరుదుకొను sarudu-konu. v. n. To eke out, or shift with: to make a little go a good way. To make room among themselves, to move a little farther; to get out of the way. To arrange, settle, చాలీ చాలక ఉండేదానివి తలాకొంచెము తీసుకొను, ఒత్తు, తొలగు, వారిలోవారు సరుదుకొన్నారు they settled it among themselves. దాన్ని వారే సరుదుకొన్నారు they shared it among themselves. వరద సరుదుకొన్నది it is full tide. కృష్ణ బెజవాడగట్టున సరుదుకొని పోతున్నది the river Krishna runs by Bezvada.
