(p. 555) toṅgiḷlu tongilḷu. [Tel. from తొంగలి.] n. plu. Drops. బొట్లు. తొంగిళ్లుగా tongiḷḷugā. adv. In drops, drop by drop, బొట్టు బొట్టుగా. 'తొంగిళ్లుకార్నీరుతో నెత్తివిడుచు.' BD. iii. 679. (p. 665) nihatamu ni-hatamu. [Skt.] adj. Killed. చంపబడిన. నిహతుడు ni-hatuḍu. n. One who is smitten, struck or killed. నిహతుగావించు to slay, dest/in?/y. నిహతి ni-hati. n. Death. చావు. నిహంత ni-hanta. n. A slayer, చంపువాడు.

(p. 668) nīru , నిగురు or నివురు nīru. [Tel.] n. Ashes, ashes lying over live coal. భస్మము, బూడిద. 'రమణీయుడై యుప్పురంబులమాటి నిమిషంబులో శూలినీరు గావించె.' DB. 135 line 3. నీరుగాచేయు to burn to ashes. సున్నపు నీరు finely powdered lime, భస్మము. సత్యంబునీరుగావించి he made light of his oath. నీరుకారు nīru-kāru. n. Tongs for coals, పటకారు.

(p. 718) parōḍhavillu pariḍhavillu. [Skt.] v. n. To shine, to give light. వెలుగు, ప్రకాశించు. To excel, అతిశయిల్లు. To go on, to get on, ప్రవర్తిల్లు, నడచు. 'ఎచ్చోట వీక్షింపగా చమత్కృతి నాటపాటలు మాటలు పరిఢవిల్ల.' Bilh. iii. 177. పరిభవించు pariḍha-vinṭsu. v. a. To carry on. నడపు, పరిఢవిల్లజేయు. To excel, అతిక్రమించు. To bear, to carry, ధరించు. (p. 1219) vēṭa vēṭa. [Tel. from వేయు and వేటు.] n. Hunting, the chase. మృగయ, అడవిలోని మృగపక్షులను చంపడము. A sheep or goat set apart for slaughter. గొర్రె, మేక, మేకపోతు, పొట్టేలు. 'పూజించెనాగంగకున్ వెలయన్ వేటలుబోనముల్ సిడులుగావించెన్.' H. ii. 100. వేటకాడు, వేటగిరి or వేటరి vēṭa-kāḍu. n. A huntsman, మృగయుడు. A slaughterer, సంహారకుడు. వేటకుక్క vēṭa-kukka. n. A hound, a hunting dog. మృగాదులనుపట్టే కుక్క. వేటపల్లె vēṭa-palle. n. A village inhabited by huntsmen, బోయపల్లె. వేటపిట్ట vēṭa-piṭṭa. n. A fowler's decoy bird. దీమపుపిట్ట. వేటపోతు vēṭa-pōtu. n. A ram. పొట్టేలు. వేటాడు or వేటలాడు veṭ-āḍu. v. n. To hunt, to follow the chase. అడవిలో పక్షులను మృగములను చంపు. To kill, slaughter, చంపు, వధించు.

(p. 1332) siḍi siḍi. [Tel.] n. The cross beam of a picota or water lift. ఏతపుమ్రాను. 'క ఏతపుసిడిదావంగిన, బాతాళపునీరుదెచ్చు.' A hook or goad. A machine on which men were formerly suspended in the air by a hook passed through the sinews of the back and swung around in honor of the goddess పోలేరమ్మ. గంపసిడి a basket in which a devotee (instead of being hooked up) is seated and swung about. మ్రొక్కుచెల్లించుకొనువారు కొందరు వీపున తగిలించుకొని ఆడే గాలపుమాను. ఈ దేవతకు ప్రతిసంవత్సరమును మేకపోతు సిడి ఒకటియును నరసిడి ఒకటియును జరుపుచుందురు in honor of this goddess they swing a goat and a man every year. సిళ్లు or సిడులు silḷu n. An elephant goad, బరికోల. 'ఏనుంగునకుసిళ్లుసూపినట్టు.' M. IV. v. 92. 'కనుగొనిసాత్యకి యేనుంగునకు సిళ్లుసూపినట్లు కోపంబున.' ib. VI. ii. 311. 'ఆగంగకున్ వెలయన్ వేటలు, బోనముల్ సిడులు గావించెన్ సుతోత్పత్తికై.' H. ii. 100.

(p. 1360) sōmasūtramu sōma-sūtramu. [Skt.] n. A vessel with a spout. A basin with a spout and handle. The receptacle or pit on the outside of a temple to receive the water with which the idol has been bathed. ముక్కు చెయ్యి పిడిగల చిన్నపాత్ర, పానవట్టమునుండి నీళ్లుపోవుదారి, లింగాభిషేక జలముపోయి పడుతొట్టి. సోమసూత్ర ప్రదక్షిణము circumambulation around a temple with such turnings that the circumambulation shall be complete without the somasūtram (hole to receive the water.) having been crossed. 'ప్రదక్షిణాభి వందనంబులు నవ్యయపదకాంక్షులగుచు బడియు రెండు గావించుటరీతి, శంకరునొద్ద సోమసూత్రముదాటరామినిజము.' Vanivilas. Page. 219.
