(p. 353) gaḍḍigamu gaḍḍi-gamu. [Tel.] n. The tube of a drill plough, through which the seed drops. చాలు వెంటనే గింజలుపడడమునకు సాధనము, కొర్రున కూర్చియుండే గొట్టపురీతిసీల.

(p. 366) giṃza ginza. [Tel.] n. A grain, a seed. విత్తు. గింజలు grain or corn. గింజలు పట్టిన తర్వాత after the corn is formed in the ear. చింతగింజ a tamarind stone. మిరియపుగింజ a peppercorn: (fig.) a dapper little fellow. గింజలేరు to glean. గింజలేరుమనికి beggary: living upon gleanings. ఈతగిం౛నువేసి తాటిగిం౛ను ఈడ్చుట to venture a date seed in order to get hold of a palmyra stone, i.e., to stake a trifle in hopes of great gain.

(p. 525) tālu or తాలుగింజలు tālu. [Tel.] n. Empty ears of corn, తప్పగింజలు, ఎన్నుతీసి ఎండిపోయినపైరు.

(p. 814) pollu pollu. [Tel.] n. Pitchless grain in an ear. బొత్తిగా గింజలుపట్టని వడ్ల సమూహము. Trash, worthless stuff. తాలు, పనికిరానిది. The consonant sound of a letter, etc., A useless word, a slip of the tongue. A lie, a falsehood. అనృతము. 'పొల్లురాదగని దోస్తివి.' Pal. 399. అనగా, అబద్ధము రాగూడని స్నేహమువాడవు. adj. Useless, వ్యర్థము, Sumati, 29. పొల్లునదంచిన బియ్యము corn beaten out of husk of pined grain. వాని పొల్లు వాడు పోసికొని బ్రతుకుతాడు he keeps his blighted grain to himself, i.e., he keeps all his griefs to himself. బంగారుపొల్లు ఉన్నదిగాని మనిషిపొల్లులేదు gold may prove worthless, but man neveer can be so. మాట పొల్లుపోకుండా ఆడుతాడు he speaks without any slips. నకారపొల్లు the letter N. (్) without the vowel sound attached to it as in the words కలిగెన్, చెలగెన్. పొల్లుపోవు pollu-pōvu. v. n. To become worthless. చెబ్బరైపోవు. 'కాళ్ల గొలుసులవారు గడెమస్నెబంట్లు, జోళ్లుగా నున్ణట్టి సురభినాయకులు, ఘల్లుమన్నతిరిగి మళ్లుమనువారు, పొల్లుపోకయని పోట్లాడువారు.' Pal. 107. To lie, tell stories or lies, అబద్ధమాడు. పొల్లుదనము pollu-danamu. n. Dispiritedness, effeminacy, పౌరుషములేమి. పొల్లుపడు pollu-paḍu. v. n. To become useless, వ్యర్థమగు.

(p. 986) minumu minumu. [Tel.] n. Black gram, Phaseolus mungo, or Phaseolus minimus. మాషము. మినవ or మినుప minapa. adj. Made of or belonging to the grain called మినుము. మినపనీళ్లు water wherein this gram has been steeped. మినపగింజలు black grain. మినపపప్పు split black gram,

Dab. 69. ముష్టికాయ mushṭi-kāya. n. The Nux vomica or poison unut. ముష్టికాయముచ్చు mushṭi-kāya-muṭsṭsu.n. The Hoopoo: lit. The poison nut eater. ముష్టింపచుడు mushṭi-patsuḍu. n. (p. 1064) ratnamu ratnamu. [Skt.] n. A jewel, precious stone, gem. మణి. A masterpiece of fine thing, the best of its kind of species స్వజాతి శ్రేష్ఠము, నవరత్నములు the nine precious stones, viz., మౌక్తికము a pearl, పద్మరాగము an emerald, వజ్రము a diamond. ప్రవాళము a coral, మరకతము. an emerald నీలము a sapphire, గోమేధికము an agate. పుష్యరాగము a ruby, వైడూర్యము a cat's eye. అశ్వరత్నము a jewel of a horse, i.e., a noble stead. స్త్రీరత్నము an unrivalled woman. గగనరత్నము the sun, as the gem of heaven. అప్సరోరత్నములు the most lovely of nymphs. రత్నకంబళము ratna-kamba-lamu. n. A carpet. తివాసీ. రత్నగర్భ .ratna-garbha n. The earth; as producing gems. భూమి. 'వైశ్యకన్యకల్ గీరనగింజలాడుతరి క్రిందనునిచిన దివ్యరత్నముల్ పౌరులు ద్రొక్కుచున్ జనగపాతుకొనంధరణీ పురంధ్రికిన్వారకరత్నగర్భయను నామము బెట్టిరి సత్కవీశ్వరుల్.' T. ii. 20. రత్నగర్భుడు ratna-garbhuḍu. n. Kubēra, the god of wealth, కుబేరుడు. The god of the sea, సముద్రుడు. రత్నసానువు ratna-sānuvu. n. An epithet of Mount Meru as having ' gems in its slopes.' మేరుపర్వతము, హేమాద్రి. రత్నాకరము ratn-ākaramu. n. The abode of gems, that is, the ocean. సముద్రము. రత్నావళి ratnā-vaḷi. n. (p. 1153) vāmanamu vāmanamu. [Skt.] adj. Dwarfish, short. పొట్టి. n. A tree termed ఊడుగుచెట్టు. నామనకాకి vāmana-kāki. n. The green billed Cuckoo. వామనకాయలు or వామనములు vāmana-kāyalu. n. plu. The name of a certain fruit used as a pickle. ఊరగాయవేసే ఒకవిధమైన కాయలు. Tender tamarind fruit, లేతచింతకాయలు. వామనగుంటలు vāmana-gunṭalu. n. A tablet with fourteen holes for playing at a kind of game. గవ్వలుగాని చింతగింజలు మొదలైనవాటినిగాని వేసి ఆడే రెండు వరసలుగా నేడెసి. గుంటలుగలపీట. వామనపాతుకాడు vāmana-pātu-kāḍu. A kind of bird. వామనావతారము vāman-āvatāramu. n. The fifth incarnation of Vishnu as a dwarf. విష్ణువుయొక్క అయిదవ అవతారము. వామనీకృతము vāmanī-kritamu. adj. Shortened. stunted. పొట్టిగాచేయబడిన. వామనుడు vāmanuḍu. n. A dwarf. పొట్టివాడు. An epithet of Vishṇu, విష్ణువు.

(p. 1361) sōla sōla. [Tel.] n. A certain dry measure, equal to a seer. పదునారు డబ్బులయెత్తు వస్తువుపట్టేకొలది, శాస్త్రకారుడుచెప్పినది తొమ్మన్నూరుగింజలు పట్టేది. సోలవెలితిగా sōla-veliti-gā. adv. Scornfully, contemptuously. కొంచెము తక్కువగా. 'ఏలయీబహురూపులేవైన మున్ను సోలవెలితిగనిన్ను జూచితినయ్య.' BD. iv. 1028. 'ఈ చందమిట్లుతాల్పక యాచందంబున నెయున్న యప్పుడునిన్నున్ జూచితినెపోలవెలితిగ నీ చుక్కల దగిలికొనగనేటికి నాకున్.' BP. vi. 238. సోలెడు sōl-eḍu. adj. A small pailful. అరతవ్వెడు.

(p. 1363) sauvarṇi sau-varṇi. [Skt. from సువర్ణము.] adj. Golden, made of gold. బంగారుతోచేసిన, బంగారుగల. సౌవర్ణికము sau-varṇikamu. n. A weight of gold, a weight of four large Ratis or mashas. నిష్కములో నాలుగోపాలు, నాలుగు మినపగింజలయెత్తు. సౌవర్ణకరణి a kind of drug, ఓషధివిశేషము.
