(p. 82) arupu or అరపు arupu. [Tel.] v. n. To remain or be left, to be saved, to be within one's power. దక్కు. అరపరాని unwiedly, not handy. అరపరానికడి a morsel too big to swallow. వాడు అరపరానికడిగానున్నాడు, అనగా, వాడు గుమ్మడికాయంత ముత్యముగానున్నాడు he is unwieldy.

(p. 305) kūṣmāṇḍamu or కుశ్మాండము kūshmānḍamu. [Skt.] n. A gourd, or pumpkin. గుమ్మడి. A sort of devil or demon. పిశాచభేదము.

(p. 379) gummaḍi gummaḍi. [Tel.] n. A gourd, a pumpkin, Cucurbita maxima. గుమ్మడితీగె or గుమ్మడిచెట్టు a gourd vine. గుమ్మడిపువ్వు a gourd flower. గుమ్మడి పండువంటిదేహము a form delicate and fragile as a gourd. పెండ్లి గుమ్మడికాయ or బూడిదగుమ్మడికాయ the white gourd, Benincasa cerifera (Watts.) The expression గుమ్మడిపండు is also a tuck or fold in the front of woman's petticoat. గుమ్మడికాయచెంబు brass pot of a particular shape. గుమ్మడికాయలాగున కూర్చున్నాడు he was sitting at his ease.

(p. 379) gummaḍu gummaḍu. [Tel.] n. A beau or fop. సొగసుకాడు, అలంకరించుకొన్నవాడు.

(p. 773) puli puli. [Tel.] n. A tiger. Felis tigris. (F.B.I.) పెద్దపులి. చిరుతపులి a cheetah, leopard or panther, Felis pardus. (F.B.I.) ఈగపులి the fly tiger, i.e., a spider. పులి౛ున్ను cheese of 'tiger's milk' equivalent to 'pigeon's milk' వాడు పెద్దపులి నలెమండిసాడు he was fierce, or, he acted in a many manner. పులిని చూచి నక్క వాత పెట్టుకొనినట్లు as a jackal brands itself to look like a tiger: a proverb meaning 'to ape another person.' పులికోచ puli-kōṭsa. n. The tarantula, a large venomous spider. పులిగోరు puli-gōru. A tiger's claw, used as the central ornament of a necklace. పులిచెవులాకు puli-chevul-āku. n. Tiger's ears; a certain medicinal plant. పులి౛ూదము puli-ḍzūdamu. A game like drafts. One sort is called గుమ్మడికాయపులి౛ూదము, because played with gourd seeds H. iv. 148. పులిటెంకి puli-ṭenki. n. A kind of fish. పులిపెంజెర puli-penjera. n. The snake called కాటుకరేకుపాము. పులిమెకము puli-mekamu. n. A certain fish, a species of Squalus or Tigrinus. Russell, plate. XVII. పులియడు puliyaḍu. n. A name given to a dog which looks like a tiger.

(p. 785) peṇḍli , పెండిలి or పెళ్లి penḍli. [Drav: పెన్ a wife, a woman.] n. Lit: Taking a wife. Marriage. The rite which answers to betrothal between children, the actual marriage being called, శోభనము. పెండ్లి అరుగు or పెళ్లితిన్నె a small hillock upon which the marriage takes place. పెండ్లి కూతురు or పెండ్లికొమార్తె n. The bride, వధువు. A daughter-in-law, కోడలు. పెండ్లి కొడుకు, or పెండ్లికుమారుడు n. The bridegroom. A son-in-law, అల్లుడు. తోడిపెండ్లికొడుకు a bridesman. తోడిపెండ్లికూతురు a bridesmaid.పెండ్లికూతురిగది the bride chamber. పెండ్లిచేయించు to unite two persons in marriage. పెండ్లిచేయు to marry a couple. పెండ్లిచేసికొను to marry, i.e., become a husband or wife.పెండ్లిండులు or పెళిళ్లు n. plu. Marriages, weddings. పెండ్లికుండలు penḍli-kunḍalu. n. Painted pots used at marriages, అయిరేని. పెండ్లిగుమ్మడి the ash gourd used at marriages, బూడిదగుమ్మడి. పెండ్లినడక penḍli-naḍaka. n. A very slow or tedious walk, as people walk in marriage processions. పెండ్లాడు, పెండ్లియాడు or పెండ్లియగు penḍl-āḍu. v. a. To marry. వివాహముచేసికొను. To be married, వివాహమగు. పెండ్లము, or పెండ్లాము penḍlāmu n. A wife.

(p. 894) būḍida , బూడిదె or బూడ్ద būḍida. [another form of బూది. q.v.] n. Ashes. బూడిద గుమ్మడి a white grey or ash-coloured gourd melon, Benincasa cerifera. పెండ్లిగుమ్మడికాయ. బూడిదవర్ణము būḍida-varṇamu. n. Ash-colour. బూడిదెఉప్పు or మానుఉప్పు Potash, or Pearl-ash. Carbonate of Potash (Watts.) బూడిదపండు būḍida-panḍu. n. A ball of ashes. విబూతిపండు. బూడిదెపన్ను būḍide-pannu. n. A tax levied for burning a corpse on the cremation ground.

(p. 1090) rōgamu rōgamu. [Skt.] n. A disease, sickness, ailment. వ్యాధి, తెగులు. తాళపుచెవికేమో రోగమువచ్చినది the key has got something the matter with it. నీకేమిరోగము వచ్చినది what was the matter with you that you did this? పెద్దరోగము leprosy, in which the limbs drop off. భవరోగములు the ills of the flesh, the ills or sorrows that flesh is heir to. రోగకారి rōga-kāri. adj. Insalubrious, unhealthy. వ్యాధిని కలుగజేసే. రోగహారి rōga-hāri. n. Lit. 'The disease destroyer.' The ash gourd. బూడిదగుమ్మడి. రోగి rōgi. n. A patient, a sick person, a sufferer, వ్యాధిగ్రస్తుడు. భవరోగి one who is subject to the ills of the flesh, one who is not yet released from earthly ties.
