Last. కొనవాడు the last man. కొనప్రాణముతో నున్నాడు he is at his last gasp. కొనరిక్క a certain constellation: రేవతీనక్షత్రము. కొనమొదలుగా kona-modalu-gā. adv. [పట్టు is also added to a great number of nouns, to give them a verbal signification and in such cases it takes its meaning from the noun to which it is affixed; thus:] తప్పుపట్టు to rust. ఇలుకుపట్టు to be sprained. అక్కరపట్టు to be necessary, to be required or to take interest in. కొవ్వుపట్టు to become fat. బూజుపట్టు to grow mouldy, దోవపట్టు to take a road. సత్తువపట్టు to be recovered, as strength. పట్లుపట్టు to be seized with cramp, &c. వాడు లంచము పట్టుచున్నాడు he takes bribes. వాడికి వెర్రిపట్టినది he has gone mad. నాకు చలిపట్టుచున్నది I feel cold. వాని గుణములు నీకు పట్టుపడినవి you have contracted his habits. వానపట్టినప్పుడు when rain came on. అట్లు చేయడానకు నీకేమిపట్టినది what business had you to do this? what made you do this? గడ్డిపట్టినబీళ్లు land covered with grass. వానిమీద తప్పుపట్టినారు they found fault with him. ఆ మందు నోరుపట్టినది the medicine made his mouth swell. వానికి ౛లుబు పట్టినది he has caught cold. నాకు కూరుకు పట్టినది I became drowsy. ఆ దూడ యింకా గడ్డి పట్ట లేదు the calf has not yet taken to grass. పట్టించు paṭṭinṭsu. [causal of పట్టు.] v. a. To cause to hold. To apply oil or ointment, &c. To make one begin. ఆ చిన్నవాడికి అమరము పట్టించినారు they have made him begin (reading) the Amaram. రేపు నీపని పట్టిస్తాను or నీతాళముపట్టిస్తాను I will settle your business to-morrow, i.e., I will punish you. ఆ పెట్టెను వానిచేతి పట్టించుకొనిరా make him bring the box with you. పట్టింపు paṭṭimpu. n. Application. Concern. పిల్లకాయలచేత ఒక పుస్తకము ఆరంభించడము, శ్రద్ధ, అక్కర, పాటింపు. అమరము పట్టింపు అయిన మూడు నెలలకు three months after setting to work on the Amaram. ఆరాధ్యులకు కర్మమందు పట్టింపులేదు the Aradhyas pay no attention to rites. 'లేనిపట్టింపులెల్లను పూనిచాన.' Ila. iii. 29. పట్టు paṭṭu. n. Holding, a hold. గ్రహణము, పట్టుకొనుట. A handful. Pertinacity, resolution, hold, strength, grip, grasp, seizing. గ్రహణము. An external application to a swelling to allay pain, &c. పూత. Ground, for a proceeding, కారణము. A prop; support, favor; a party or side, ఆధారము. A part of scene in a play, స్థానము, విషయము. విరహపుపట్టు an amorous scene,. యుద్ధపుపుట్టు a warlike scene. A feat in wrestling. అది తలకు పట్టు పెట్టుకొని పండుకొన్నది she put a plaster on her temples and went to bed. ఈ వ్యాజ్యములో పట్టులేదు there is no proper plea in this suit. ఒకని పట్టుగా మాట్లాడుట to speak on a man's behalf. ఒక పట్టుగానుండు to inhit pertinaciously. ఉనికిపట్టు a place, a house, an abode. వాడు పట్టినపట్టు వదలడు he will not relinquish his purpose. వాణ్ని పట్టిన పట్టున తీసుకొనివచ్చిరి they brought him as he was. పట్టుస్నానము bathing at the commencement of an eclipse, as opposed to విడుపుస్నానము bathing at its termination. ఆయన పట్టుబిడుపు తెలిసినవాడు he knows where to be lenient and where to be severe. కూతపట్టునేల as far as a cry may be heard. వారికి కర్మములో పట్టులేదు they do not lay much stress upon ceremonies. వాడు ఎంతమాత్రము పట్టు ఇవ్వకుండా మాట్లాడుచున్నాడు he speaks without giving them any handle. చాలా మంది ఆయనపట్టు అయిరి many followed him, or joined his side. పట్టున (with న the sign of the ablative) at, by, close to. కోరడి పట్టు న along the hedge. గాడీపట్టున at the manager. ఈ పట్టున at present, పట్టు feats in wrestling. కాడు జెట్టిపట్లుపట్టగలడు he is able to wrestle. ఆ చుట్టుపట్ల in the adjacent places, in the neighbourhood. చుట్టుపట్ల వాండ్లు neighbours. పట్టు paṭṭu. n. Added to infinitives in A, it gives the signification of intent or futurity. వ్రాయబోతే వద్దన్నాడు when I was going to write he told me not to do so. దాన్ని కొట్టబోయినాడు he was about to strike her. వారెప్పుడు పోబోతారు when are they going to set out? చెప్పబోయేవుసుమీ take care, you don't mention it. Affixed to the past affirmative participles of many verbs, it denotes completeness: as ఆ గోడ పడిపోయినది the wall has fallen down. ఆ మాటలు ఇప్పుడు ఏటిలో కలిసిపోయినవి those words are now all forgotten; lit: gone into the river. వారక్కడనే ఉండి పోయినారు they settled there. Joined to negative participles it is used to form a past tense negative. రాకపోయెను he did not come. పోకపోయెను he did not go. వినకపోయెను he would not listen. పోవుదెంచు Same as పోవు. Also, to pass, as time, కడచు, పోదోయు pō-dōyu. v. a. To baffle, to push back, to thrust away. పోదోలు pō-dōlu. v. a. To drive off. పోనాడు pōn-āḍu. v. a. To drive off, to turn away, to abandon. (p. 867) bammariñcu or బమ్మరిల్లు bamma-rinṭsu. [from Skt. భ్రమ.] v. n. To err, to go wrong, భ్రమించు. To be confounded, to be afraid or amazed, బెదరు, తొందరపడు. 'కోరలుగలవాని, గోళ్లనుగలవాని, గొమ్ములుగలవాని నమ్మవలదు, బమ్మరించెనేని బ్రతుకంగవచ్చునే, యెలుగుతోడిచెలిమియేల నీకు.' G. i. 284. 'పొడమాపినట్లైన వడిబట్టసమకట్టి. పరికించి కానక బమ్మరించు.' M. IV. ii. 303. బమ్మెర or బమ్మర bammera. n. Confusion. భ్రమ, బ్రాంతి, కళవళపాటు. బమ్మరపోవు v. n. To be in fright or confusion, భ్రమపడు, కళవళపడు. 'ఎలదేటిదాటులన్ బమ్మెర పోవదోలు దెగబారెడు వెంట్రుకలు.' (p. 887) biḷla or బిల్ల billa. [Tel.] n. Any small, round and flat thing, a disc or tablet, పలుచగానుండి గుండ్రగానుండే వస్తువు. బంట్రోతుబిళ్ల a peon's badge. అత్తరుబిళ్ల a cake of rose paste. వెండిబిళ్ల a plate of silver. ఒరుగుబిళ్ల a round cushion. రాగిడిబిళ్ల a gold tire. ఆతపెలకు బిళ్లవేసినాడు he put a patch on the metal vessel. మొలబిళ్ల a bit or piece of metal tied on a string around the loins of a female infant. బిళ్లపెంకు or ఓడుబిళ్ల a tile. ఓడుబిళ్లపరువు a tiled roof. బిళ్లబొట్టు a round mark on the forehead. బిళ్లకట్టు biḷḷa-kaṭṭu. v. n. To have a blood boil formed on any part of the body నెత్తురుగడ్డకట్టు. వాని గజ్జలలో బిళ్లకట్టినది he has buboes. బిళ్లగోళ్లు or గోడుబిళ్లలు a name of game played by children. బిళ్లచెప్పులు thin, flat shoes. బిళ్లవాలు the flat round discus of Vishnu, చక్రాయుధము. బిల్లిక another form of బిళ్ల బిళ్లగన్నేరు biḷḷa-gannēru. n. The jalap plant which has lilac flowers. బిళ్లపురుగు billa-purugu. n. The red winged stinging beetle, one of the Cantharides.

(p. 995) mukku or ముకు mukku. [Tel.] n. The nose. నాసిక. The bill or beak of a bird, పక్షిముఖము. The point or tip. చనుముక్కు a nipple. ముక్కు౛ోడనలు a double nose. ౛మిలిముక్కు. 'మునవనల్ దమిబట్టి ముంగాళ్ల ముక్కుజోడనలచీలిచి.' A. v. 122. ముక్కుడుస్సిన uncurbed, broken loose, rampant, ముక్కుతాడుతీసిన. 'వసుధేశముక్కుడుస్సిన పసరముక్రియ.' A. vi. 53. ముక్కుబంటి యైనదనుక satiating his nostrils with fragrance to the full. P. iii. 224. చిలుకముక్కులు and జీనువముక్కులు two sorts of grain. రెండుముక్కులపిట్ట (the double beaked bird) also called మూడు ముక్కలపిక్క and ఎబ్బెరపిక్క the Hornbill, or Toucan. Jerdon. No. 198. 'ముండగోష్ఠికి ముక్కు మొగమేడతనకు.' HD. ii. 1059. ముక్కు మొగము ఎగనట్టు మాట్లాడినాడు he talked as if I was a perfect stranger to him. ముక్కుపట్టనిముత్తెము a pearl not suited to the nose, i.e., a round man in a square hole. ముక్కుకమ్మిక a certain useless forest tree. ముక్కు mukku. v. n. To moan, groan. To mould or turn musty. To spoil or become half rotten. To strain or press, (as in pain.) ముక్క mukka. (Root in A of ముక్కు to be musty or mouldy, &c.) ముక్కపురుగులు weevils in spoilt grain, తవుటిపురుగులు. ముక్కకంపు a frowzy smell. తర్వాత తొండూరిగ్రామము ముక్క ఉరికినందున ఆ నెత్తము విరిచిరి a disease has appeared which is peculiar to that place. ముత్యాలు ముక్కిపోయినవి the pearls were spoiled. ముక్కుగోళ్లు, ముకుగోళ్లు, ముకుగ్రోళ్లు, ముక్కు జెరములు, ముక్కుచెరములు or ముక్కురంధ్రములు mukkugōḷḷu. n. plu. The nostrils. నాసాపుటములు. ముక్కుత్రాడు or ముకుత్రాడు a nose-rope used for curbing oxen. ముక్కుదొమ్మ or ముకుదొమ్మ mukku-domma. n. A sort of fish. H. iv. 225. ముక్కద్దము mukk-addamu. n. A pair of spectacles, సులోచనము, కంటిఅద్ధము. ముక్కమ్మి or ముక్కుకమ్మి muk-kammi. (ముక్కు + కమ్మి.) or ముక్కర mukka-ra. (ముక్కు + రాయి.) n. A nose ring. నాసాభరణము. ముక్కరమాను mukkara-mānu. n. The frame in which the roller (పుల్లిరుసు) of a కపిల well rolls. ముక్కరము muk-ka-ramu. (ముక్కు + కారెము.) n. A nostril, నాసికారంధ్రము. ముక్కిడి mukkiḍi (ముక్కు + ఇడి) adj. Noseless. ముక్కులేని. ముక్కిడిరోగము caries of the bones of the nose. 'ముక్కిడి తొత్తుకు ముత్తెంపునత్తేల.' రామలింగశతకము. ముక్కిడి or కొండముక్కిడి. n. A certain large tree, Schrebera swietenoides. Rox. i. 109. ముక్కుదూలము or ముకుదూలము mukku-dūlam. n. The bridge or division of the nose. ముక్కునడిమియెముక. ముక్కుపురిడి or ముక్కుపూరేడుపిట్ట mukku-puriḍi. n. The common snipe. (Jerdon.) ఒకపక్షి. ముక్కుపొడి mukku-poḍi. n. Snuff. నస్యము, పొడుము. ముక్కుపోగు mukku-pōgu. n. A nose ring, ముక్కుమ్మి, నత్తు, ముక్కుబంతి or ముకుబంతి mukku-banti. n. A disease that attacks the nose of a cow through cold. ముక్కుముంగర mukku-mungara. n. A certain useless forest tree. ముక్కులు mukkulu. n. Rice flour. మిక్కిలి చిన్ననూకలు. A kind of cake.

(p. 1116) vaṅki vanki. [Tel. from వంగు.] n. An arrow. బాణము. A dagger, బాకు. A sort of hook, కొక్కి. 'తిమ్మితుపాకికెందలిరాకువంకి, కమ్మనివిల్లు చెంగల్వనేజయును, జాజిపూబాకుగొజ్జగిపెద్దకత్తి.' An armlet of a crooked shape, స్త్రీలు సందిటధరించే ఒక విధమైననగ. వంకె or వంకియ vanke. n. A kind of grain, సస్యవిశేషము. A wooden hook or peg in the wall. మంటిగోడకువేసిన చిలుక కొయ్య. పులిగోళ్లవంకెలు a certain kind of grain. తెల్లవంకెలు another kind of grain. H. iv. 159. వడ్లవంకెలు a fine species of rice.

(p. 1148) vāṭamu vāṭamu. [Tel.] adj. Handsome, pretty. అందమైన. 'వాటములైన నున్గురులు.' V. P. viii. 108. Convenient. అనుకూలమైన. n. Convenience, అనుకూలము. The slope of the ground, a roof, &c., which allows the water to flow off; sloping, slanting. వాలు, ఏటవాలుగానుమడడము. 'వాటంబులైన నీవాలారుకొనగోళ్లు.' Surabha. i. 63. [Skt.] n. A road, way, మార్గము.
