(p. 399) ghaṭamu ghaṭamu. [Skt.] n. An earthen vessel or jar, కుండ. The body శరీరము. A ruined well పాడునుయ్యి. ఘటవిసర్జనచేసినాడు he left the body. ఈ ఘటముండేవరకు as long as I live. Bringing about, effecting కూర్పు, ఘటము. దుర్ఘటము impracticable, hard to get or bring about. ఘటచక్రము ghaṭa-chakramu. n. A potter's wheel. ఘటయంత్రము ghaṭa-yantramu. [Skt.] n. A sort of pump. నూతిగిరక, నీరుతోడేగిలక. 'గీ పొంతఘటయంత్రసరము ద్రిప్పుచు జపించు' A. v. 90. ఘటశాసి ghaṭa-ṣāsi. n. A logician. తార్కికుడు. A. vi. 89. ఘటశ్రాద్ధము or ఘటస్పోటనము ghaṭa-ṣrāddhamu. n. The funeral of a pot; a mode of divorce, wherein funeral rites are performed as though the rebellious wife were actually dead. ఘటస్ఫోటనము చేసినాడు he divorced his wife.

(p. 919) bhāṇḍamu bhānḍaṁu. [Skt.] n. An earthern pot or vessel. Any vessel. కుండలోనగు మంటిపాత్రము, పాత్రము. Capital, principal. మొదలిసొమ్ము, అసలు, మూలధనము, బండాలము. Harness, trappings. అశ్వభూషణము. ఏకభాండాశనులుగా నున్నారు they eat out of the same dish, i.e., they form one family. పృథగ్బాండాశనులైనారు they began to eat food prepared in separate vessels, i.e., they formed a separate family. భాండశ్రాద్ధము or ఘటశ్రాద్ధము a ceremony used in divorce, when some funeral rites are performed as though a relation was dead. భాండాగారము bhānd-āgāramu. n. A treasury. ధనగృహము, ఖజానాకొట్టు, బొక్కసము. భాండాగారికుడు bhāṇḍ-āgārikuḍu. n. A treasurer. కోసగృహోధ్యక్షుడు, G. ii. 50.

(p. 1261) śrāddhamu ṣrāddhamu. [Skt. from శ్రద్ధ.] n. Funeral ceremonies or obsequies, observed at various fixed periods, consisting of offerings with water and fire, to the gods and manes, and gifts and food to the relations present, and assistant Brahmins. పితృకర్మము, పిత్రర్థముగా దేశకాలవిధికృత బ్రాహ్మణ భోజనము. ఏకోద్దిష్ట శ్రాద్ధము a funeral ceremony observed eleven days after a persons's death. నిత్యశ్రాద్ధము daily funeral ceremonies for a year after a person's death. ధర్మశ్రాద్ధము the funeral ceremony observed every new moon. మహాలయశ్రాద్ధము a funeral ceremony in the sixth lunar month. సపిండశ్రాద్ధము or సపిండీకరణము a funeral ceremony in which the balls of rice offered to the deceased individually and collectively, are blended together. తిర్థశ్రాద్ధము a funeral ceremony celebrated in a holy place. నాందీశ్రాద్ధము an offering made to the manes of deceased ancestors on solemn occasions. హిరణ్యశ్రాద్ధము money distributed in charity as an offering to the manes. ఆమశ్రాద్ధము uncooked ingredients distributed as above said. అన్నశ్రాద్ధము cooked food served out to guests as aforesaid. ఘటశ్రాద్ధము obsequies performed to a waterjar, which bears the name of a man's living wife, whom he divorces by breaking the jar. వానికి కొంచెము హిరణ్య శ్రాద్ధముచేస్తేనే గాని ఆ పని అనుకూలపడేటట్టు ఉండలేదు unless you grease his palm, I think that business will not be settled in our favour. శ్రాద్ధదేవుడు ṣrāddha-dēvuḍu. n.
