Half; a moiety. సగము. అర్ధచంద్రుడు or అర్ధేందువు the crescent moon, a half moon. అర్థనారీశ్వరుడు the god Siva, in his form of half man and half woman. అర్థరాత్రి midnight. అర్ధాంగీకారము half permission, doubtful consent. అర్ధాక్షరము a half letter. Curds beaten with water, buttermilk. మజ్జిగ. చల్లకైవచ్చి ముంత దాచనేల, చల్లకు పోయి ముంత దాచడమేమి why conceal your pot when you come for buttermilk, i.e., why do you beat about the bush? or, why mince the matter? చల్ల or చల్లని adj. Cool, cold. శీతము. Benign, merciful, healing. Comfortable. చల్లకము ṭsallakamu. n. Sprinkling. Watering, irrigation. చల్లుట. చల్లకడి ṭsalla-kaḍi. n. Flummery: buttermilk mingled with fenugreek. మెంతిమజ్జిగ. చల్లకవ్వము ṭsalla-kavvamu. n. 'తే అందరికి నన్నివగల నానాందమిచ్చి, చల్లచేయగ.' (Ila. i. 79.) with her graces she charmed them all, cheering and refreshing their hearts. కన్నులచల్లచేసె. Tight drawers or breeches: short trousers, which reach as far as the middle of the thigh. The loose skirt end of the waist band that hangs in front: ఇ౛ారు, సగముతొడవరకు తొడుగుకొనే గుడిగి. చల్లదనము or చల్లన ṭsalla-danamu. n. Coolness, coldness. చల్లనీరుకణితి ṭsalla-nīru-kaṇiti. n. The post (తరికంబము) round which the string passes, which works the churning stick. చల్లవడియము tsalla-caḍiyamu. n. A kind of cake. వడియములలో ఒకభేదము. చల్లచేయు ṭsalla-chēyu. v. t. To cool. చల్లపరుచు. చలల్లారు tsallāru.v. n. To grow cool. చల్లపడు. To become calm, to be allayed, restrained or pacified ఉపశమిల్లు. To be extinguished. చల్లార్చు tsall-āruṭsu. v. a. Also (metaphorically,) of a smile spreading over the face. కూటిలో మన్నుచల్లడము to throw earth in one's food, i.e., to take away one's bread, to ruin one. ఇంటిమీద నిప్పులుచల్లిరి they scattered fire on the house. మొక్కచల్లు to transplant corn. తోటకు నీళ్లు చల్లినారు they pumped water into the garden. ధూళిచల్లి sprinkling dust. చల్లుపోరాడు or చల్లులాడు tsallu-pōrāḍu. v. n. (p. 807) pottemu or పొత్తెపుమట్టి pottemu. [Tel.] n. A red earth, sand or dust with which boxers cover the floor of their gymnasium so as not to be hurt, గరిడీసాలయందు క్రిందపరిచే యెర్రమన్ను. 'మ గరిడిన్ బొత్తెపు మట్టి చల్లడము చెంగావిన్ కళల్ దేరుకా, సెరహిన్ మీరగ జొచ్చి మల్లుర కడున్ జేసానలన్ సాధనల్ బరగం బల్పిడు గుక్కుటో బరవు పోటన్ గ్రద్ధనల్ గ్రుద్దులన్ ధరమట్టాడిజయించు నాతని కసాధ్యంబెద్ది లేదిందులన్.' (p. 1100) lāgu lāgu. [Tel.] v. a. &n. To pull, haul, drag, draw. ఈడ్చు. వాడు ప్రాణము విడుచునప్పుడు వానికాళ్లుచేతులు లాగినవి in dying his arms and legs were drawn up, or were contracted. n. Attraction, ఆకర్షించడము. Consent, సమ్మతి. Manner, విధము. A summer sault, leap, లంఘనము. Short drawers, reaching only to the middle of the thigh. చల్లడము. లాగించు lāginṭsu. v. a. To cause to pull or drag, లాగునట్లుచేయు. లాగుకొను lāgu-konu. v. a. To take by force, seize. బలాత్కారముగా తీసుకొను, అపహరించుకొను. లాగుబడి lāgu-baḍi. n. Expense, cost. లాగులాడు lāgul-āḍu. v. n. To struggle, పెనగులాడు. లాగు or లాగున lāgu. adv. Like, as, రీతిగా, విధముగా, వలె. 'వెలయుహరిశ్చంద్రువిధమున, నలునివీకను, పురకుత్సుచాడ్పున, పురూరవునిలీల. సగరులాగున. కార్తవీర్యు మర్యాదగను. గయునిక్రియ.' H. i. 42. ఏలాగుననున్నది how is it, in what fashion is it? ఈలాగున in this way. అలాగున in that manner? అతడు చెప్పిన లాగున according to what he said? అది అయ్యేలాగున చేయవలసినది you must manage to get this done. మాకు అందేలాగు so that it may reach us. మొద్దులాగు నిలిచినాడు he stood stock still. వాని ముఖములాగు ఉండెను it looked like his face. ఇట్లు చేసేలాగున చెప్పుము tell him to do so.
