(p. 341) kṣētramu kshētramu. [Skt.] n. A field. పంటభూమి. A place, a spot స్థలము. The body శరీరము. A wife భార్య. A sacred spot, a place of pilgrimage పుణ్యభూమి. Starvation పస్తు. (this meaning is peculiar to Telugu.) నిన్న కటికిక్షేత్రముగానుండినాడు he was starving all yesterday. క్షేత్రములు చేయు to starve. క్షేత్రగణితము kshētragaṇamu. n. Mensuration. క్షేత్రజ్ఞుడు kshētragnyuḍu. n. The soul. ఆత్మ, జీవము. A husbandman. కాపువాడు. A. ii. 100. క్షేత్రపాలుడు kshētra-pāluḍu. n. An inferior manifestation or terrific form of Siva. భైరవుడు. 'క్షేత్రపాలున కుదికినచీరలారు చాకిరేవులగములయ్యెసకల దిశలు.' A. ii. 55. క్షేత్రాజీవుడు a cultivator దున్ను కొని బ్రతుకువాడు.

(p. 445) cākali or చాకల ṭsākali. [Tel.] adj. Appertaining to the washerman's caste చాకలి or చాకలివాడు a washerman. చాకిత or చాకలిది ṭsākita. n. A female of that caste. చాకలవాని పురుగు ṭsākala-vāni-purugu. n. A snail. చాకలసారెగాడు ṭsākala-sāre-gāḍu. n. The Pied Wagtail, Motacilla maderaspa-tensis. (F.B.I.) చాకి ṭsāki. adj. Of or belonging to the washerman's caste. చాకిరేవు the place by the water side where clothes are washed. చాకిబాన ṭsāki-bāna. n. A washerman's kettle. The name of a bird. A certain romping game.

(p. 497) t ta. The letter T pronounced as a pure dental. A feminine suffix as in చాకిత, వ్రేత. త in ordinary writing denotes తర్వాత afterwards. In prosody it stands for the foot called తగణము which consists of two long syllables followed by a short one as వంకాయ.

(p. 764) pu ccu puṭsṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To take. తీయు. To send, to remove. పంపు, పోవజేయు v. n. To decay, mortify, rot. పుచ్చిపోవు puchchi-pōvu. v. n. To be rotten, decayed పుచ్చు puṭsṭsu. adj. Rotten, decayed. 'గురువునకు పుచ్చుకూరైన నియ్యరరయవేశ్యకిత్తురర్థమెల్ల.' Vēma 69. పుచ్చు puṭsṭsu. n. The Sediment of oil. ఆముదపుమడ్డి. Filth. 'పప్పులోనుప్పు మిక్కిలి పారజల్లి, నేతిలో నాముదపుపుచ్చు నిండనించి,' Jagannadha. i. 67. పుచ్చు is used idiomatically with some nouns to give them an active force. ఆ బిడ్డను నిద్రపుచ్చినది she put the child to sleep. నూరు రూపాయలతో ఆ యిల్లు కట్టడమును సరిపుచ్చినాడు he finished the building of the house with a hundred rupees. మోసపుచ్చు to deceive, cheat. చిన్నపుచ్చు to disgrace. ప్రొద్దుపుచ్చు to pass or kill time, కాలక్షేపము చేయు. ఇంతప్రొద్దు పుచ్చినందుకు యేతువేమి what is the reason of your making so much delay? 'చాకివాడుకోక చీకాకుపడజేసి, మయలబుచ్చి మంచిమడుపుచేయు, బుద్ధిచెప్పువాడు గుద్దిననేమయా.' Vēma. 230. 'పరులమోసపుచ్చి ధరరూకలార్జించి, కడుపునించుకొనుటకానిపద్దు.' Vēma. 258.

(p. 877) bāna bāna. [Tel.] n. A kettle, a boiler, a large pot. కడవ. చాకిబాన a washerman's vat or large earthen vessel.

(p. 946) maṇugu or మడుగు maṇugu. [Tel.] v. n. To be folded, bent. To die, to expire. అణుగు. n. a clean cloth. ధౌతవస్త్రము, బట్ట. 'ఏకార్ణవంబైన యెడనజాచ్యుతుల, జేకొనకుదికెడు చాకియునతడు, మహితభక్తళికి మణుగులుశాత, మహినెపుడుమడివాలు మాచయ్యయనగ.' BD. iv. 145. మణుగు or మణువు maṇugu. n. A maund or weight of eight viss., i.e., forty seers or twenty-five pounds. ఎనిమిదివీసెల ఎత్తు. మణుగుబువ్వులు maṇugu-buvvulu. n. Vermicelli. ౛ంతికలలో భేదమైన భక్ష్యములు. (p. 1041) moraṭu moraṭu. [Tel.] n. An obstinate fool. మూర్ఖుడు. 'మొరటులొగివిరక్తి మొనయర యాత్మకు.' Vēma. 1965. మొరటుతనము moratu-tanamu. n. Stubbornness. మూర్ఖత్వము. మొరడు or మొరటి moraḍu. adj. Hard, hardened, rough, knotty, stubborn. గడుసుపారిన, కఠినమైన, ముడిగానుండే. 'మొరడువంగిన సెట్టిముదుకకు.' P. iii. 193. టీ గడుసుపారిన, ముదిమిచేత ఆవనతుడైన. మొరడు. n. A block, a stump; a knot. మొద్దు, ముడి, మోడు. 'ముట్టుచాకిజేరు మొరడుకమ్మరిజేరు.' Vēma. 2084. మొరడుపారిన moraḍu-pārina. adj. Hard, grown hard by age, having the limbs contracted by disease. గడుసుపారిన, ముద్దలుకట్టుకొనిపోయిన.

(p. 1108) lēki lēki. [Tel.] n. Grain dropped down on the ground, రాలిన ధాన్యపుగిం౛లు. A worthless wretch, a vagabond. దేవురుగొట్టు, పనికిమాలినవాడు, పనికిమాలినది, అప్రయోజకుడు. 'లేకులలోకులకాకరుపులకు చాకిచాకనియేల సందడించెదవు.' BD. iv. 101. లేకిచేష్టలు silly doings. లేకిబడియ a rascal, a scoundrel. లేకిబ్రతుకు lēki-bratuku. n. A miserable life, a hand to mouth livelihood. లేకివాడు lēki-vāḍu. n. One who lives from hand to mouth. A useless person. అప్రయోజకుడు.
