(p. 654) nimittamu nimittamu. [Skt.] n. A cause, reason, motive, mark, sign, token, omen. హేతువు, చిహ్నము, గురి, శకునము, దుర్నిమిత్తము a bad omen. As an affix: Respecting, regarding, on account of, because of. అందునిమిత్తము for that reason, therefore ఉప్పునిమిత్తము పోయినది she is gone for salt. ఆ యాస్తికిని నాకును నిమిత్తము లేకుండా చేసినారు they cut me off from the estate. దీన్ని అడగడమునకు నీకేమి నిమిత్తము what business have you to ask this? అతని దర్శననిమిత్తమై పోతిని I went to visit him. నిమిత్తముమాలినపని an unreasonable act. నిమిత్తముమాలినమాట a groundless assertion. నానిమిత్తమై నీవు కొంచెము ప్రయాసపడవలెను you must take a little trouble for me, or on my account.

(p. 704) padamu padamu. [Skt.] n. A foot. పాదము. అడుగు. A footstep, the mark of a foot, పాదచిహ్నము. A word or a phrase, శబ్దము. An article, thing, వస్తువు. Preservation, defence, రక్షణము. This is observed as the Pongul feast. పొంగలిపండుగ. మకరకంఠి makara-kanṭhi. n. A necklace shaped like an alligator. మొసలిమూతులుగల కంఠాభరణము. మకరకుండలము makara-kunḍalamu. n. An earring bearing the figure of a crocodile's head. మొసలిముఖము గల కర్ణభూషణము. మకరతోరణము makara-tōranamu. n. A particular kind of pill made of factitious cinnabar. లింగాకారముగాచేసిన రసవస్తువులగుళిక. లింగకాయ linga-kāya. n. The solitaire or small case usually made of silver to keep the lingam or phallus in and worn on the breast, suspended by a cord round the neck. స౛్జకాయ. లింగడు lingaḍu. n. A name of the god Siva. జంగమయ్య, శివుడు. లింగదొండ linga-donḍa. n. A creeper with a red conical fruit. Bryonia laciniora. దొండలోభేదము. లింగధారి or లింగవంతుడు linga-dhāri. n. One who wears the lingam or phallus. లింగమును కట్టుకొనియుండువాడు. లింగపొట్ల linga-poṭla. n. A kind of snake gourd. లింగాకారవు విత్తులుగల ఒకదినుసు పొట్ల. సిధ్రకము. లింగబలిజలు linga-balijalu. n. Plu. A religious hypocrite, one who assumes the dress, &c., of an ascetic in order to get a livelihood. ధర్మధ్వజి, పొట్టపోసికొనుటకు జటలు రుద్రాక్షలు ధరించువాడు.

(p. 1231) vyaṅgyamu vyangyamu. [Skt.] n. Sarcasm, irony, covert expression of contempt, &c. అవక్షేపము, శ్లేషకథ. వ్యంగ్యోక్తి a sarcastic speech or expression. 'కాంతకిట్లనియెవ్వంగ్యము గానబడగ.' L. viii. 84. Impropriety, indecency, indelicacy, ఎబ్బెరికము. ఇది వారికి వ్యంగ్యముకాదు among them this is no indecency. వ్యంజకము vyanjakamu. adj. A limit, boundary, barrier, border, frontier, ఎల్ల, పొలిమేర, హద్దు. A part, place, site, స్థలము, ప్రదేశము. సీమాచిహ్నములు ఏర్పరచిరి they fixed the boundaries. సీమలుగానిసీమలు countries which are not our home, i. e. foreign lands. మా సీమను పట్టుకోన్నారు they seizes our lands. adj. Foreign, not native. సీమకోడి a turkey సీమసున్నము white chalk. సీమచింతచెట్టు a kind of tree. సీమరేణిచెట్టు a kind of jungle tree.
