(p. 43) adaru or అదురు adaru. [Tel.] v. n. To tremble, shake, quake, shiver. To dread. కంపించు, భయపడు, భూమి అదురుచున్నది the earth trembles. దాన్ని చూడగానే వాని గుండెలు అదిరినవి his heart quivered to see this. కుడి కన్ను అదురుచున్నది my right eye tingles. వాడు వట-టి అదురుగుండె he is a coward. అడరు or అడురు n. Concussion, shaking, tremour, trembling, fear, కంపనము, చలనము, కొట్టుకొనడము, భయము. భూమి అదురు a tremour or convulsion of the earth. వానికి తండ్రి వద్ద కొంచెము అదురు ఉండవలెను he ought to fear his father. అదరుగడ or అదురుగడ adarugaḍa. [Tel.] n. Daunting, fright. బెదురు. అదరిపడు or అదిరిపడు adari-paḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To caper about, to curvet. ఉలికిపడు. to be arrogant. అదరిపాటు n. Pride. అదరిపాటున. adv. Suddenly, unexpectedly. ఏమరిపాటున, 'అదరిపాటున వారాళియుదుటు చూచి.' N. i. 126.

(p. 588) dāpu dāpu. [Tel.] n. Nearness. సమీపము. Fear, భయము. 'దాపులేని రణంబు నేటికి దానవోత్తమచూడగాన్.' మై. i. ఆ యిల్లు నాకు దాపు నీకు దూరము that house is near to me and far from you. adj. Neighbouring, next, bordering on. v. a. To hide, దాచు. దాపించు dāpinṭsu. v. n. To approach. సమీపించు. v. a. To cause to be hidden. To have hidden, to cause to hide. దాపుడు dāpuḍu. n. Hiding. దాచుట. దాపుడచీర dāpuḍu-chīra. n. Clothes that are laid by, i.e., holiday clothes, as distinguished from కట్టుకోక. దాపున dāpu-na. (abl. of దాపు.) adv. Near, by. దాపుమూపులు dāpu-mūpulu. (anuk) n. Hiding and concealing. దాపురము, దాపరికము or దాపరము dāpuramu. n. Concealment. మరుగుపుచ్చుట. A hoard, దాచినసొమ్ము. Coming into one's possession or enjoyment, ప్రాప్తి. దాపురమగు dā-puram-agu. v. n. To accrue. ప్రాప్తించు, లభించు.

(p. 1319) sākṣi s-ākshi. [Skt. స+అక్షి.] n. An eye withness, a witness, one who testifies to anything, one who gives evidence. ప్రత్యక్షముగా చూచినవాడు, ఎరిగినవాడు. దొంగసాక్షి or సబద్ధపుసాక్షి a false witness. అంతరాత్మ సాక్షిగా నేనొకపాప మెరుగను my heart bears me witness that I did no wrong. అగ్నిసాక్షిగా in the presence of the god of fire. పంచభూత సాక్షిగా నేనెరుగను I swear by the five elements that I am not guilty. ఏకసాక్షినకర్తవ్యం a single witness will not suffice. 'తమరు చూడగానె తమవారుకొందరు, చచ్చుటెల్లతమకు సాక్షి కాదె.' (Vema. 1650.) Is not this a proof? సాక్షి భూతుడు s-ākshī-bhūtuḍu. n. One equivalent to a witness, one as good as a witness. చూచుచుండువాడు. సాక్ష్యము s-ākshyamu. n. Testimony, evidence. ప్రత్యక్షముగా చూడడము, ప్రత్యక్షముగా చూచిన దాన్ని చెప్పడము. సాక్ష్యముగా as an evidence. దొంగసాక్ష్యము or అబద్ధపుసాక్ష్యము false evidence. ప్రత్యక్షసాక్ష్యము direct evidence. సాక్ష్యమిచ్చు or సాక్ష్యముచెప్పు s-ākshyam-itstsu. v. n. To give evidence, to bear witness. మనస్సాక్షి the conscience.
