(p. 25) agu agu. [Tel.] (commongly written అవు), v. To be, to become, to prove to be. The present p|| is అగుచు, or అవుచు as అగుచున్నాడు or అవుచున్నాడు he is becoming. మిక్కిలి సిరి అగును much fortune will result. The past p|| is అయి as దొంగ అయి turned a rogue, become a thief. The root in A of అగు is కా as అట్లా కారాదు it cannot happen so. Aorist p|| అగు, అగునట్టి, అయ్యే, అయ్యెడి as క్రూరుడగు cruel. శాలివాహనశక వర్షంబులు 1466 అగునట్టి క్రోధి సంవత్సర కార్తీకశుద్ధ 5 శనివారము Saturday the 5th of the bright fortnight of the month Kārtika in the year Krodhi 'which is' the year 1466 (of the Salivahana æra.) ఇది దొంగతనము అయ్యేపనిగనుక as this is a matter in which a man might prove a rogue. To be, to become, as కాకి కోకిలయగునె can a crow become a cuckoo? వాడు ఏమయినాడు what has become of him? దొంగ అయినాడు he proved to be a thief. వాడు నేరస్థుడైనాడు he was found guilty. ఆ పని అవును కాకపోవును that undertaking may or may not be accomplished. వానికి ఆకలి అవుతున్నది he is hungry. ఇట్లు రాత్రియగుట as it was now night. బాలుడగుట as he is but a child. 2. To be made, to be finished, to be spent or expended, to elapse, as పని శీఘ్రముగా కావలెను the work must be done soon. వివాహమగుము marry her. ఆ పెండ్లి అయినది the marriage took place. భోజనమయినది dinner is over. రాజదర్పనమయినది I got a sight of the king. అయినదాన్ని చూపు shew what has been done. ఆ పని అయినది the work is over, it is done. కావచ్చినది it is nearly done. రూకలు అయిపోయినది the money is expended. సంవత్సరము అయినది a year has passed. నెల అవుతున్నది it is about a month since. అర్థమయినదా do you understand it? సాకు భావముకాతేదు I do not understand it. భావముయనది I understand it. స్నానము కావించు to bathe, or to cause to bathe. తీర్పుకాలేదు no decision has been given. మ్రుచ్చిలితెచ్చుట మగతనం బగునె is it a manly thing to steal? 3. To be proper or fit, to be agreeable, as ఇచ్చట నుండనగునే మనకు is it fit for us to remain here? కాని పని an improper or unbecoming act. అట్లా చేయనవునా is it right to do so? పగలు కాచినపాలు ఆ రాత్రికి అవును milk boiled the same day is fit for use that night. అతనికీ నాకు కానందున as we are not on good terms. అయినవాండ్లున్ను కానివాండ్లున్ను friends and enemies. 4. To grow, as ఈ తోటలో ఏమి అవుతవి what is grown in this garden? ఇక్కడ వరి కఅదు rice does not grow here. 5. (Governing a dative) To stand in relation, as వాడు నీకేమవుతాడు how is he related to you? నాకు కావలసినవారు my relations. వానికి మేము ఏమీకాము we are in no way related to him. 6. Added to some nouns it gives them a verbal significance, as వారు ఎప్పుడు ప్రయాణమవుతారు when will they start or set out? విభాగాలు అయి వేరింటి కాపురము చేస్తున్నారు they seperated and live apart.

(p. 65) appu appu. [Skt.] n. Water. నీళ్లు. plu. అప్పులు Vasu i. Preface 56. 'ధరయేయపాంసులత చూపరాకుండ దనకూర్మిరేని నప్పుననెముంచె.' Vasu. i. 'అప్పుల్ వారిధి చేత బుచ్చుకొని కార్యంబైన మున్గొన్నయయ్యప్పుల్ దౌచనియున్ సవృద్ధికముగా నవ్వార్థికేతీర్పగా.' A. iv. 198.

(p. 87) alati or అలంతి alati. [Tel.] adj. Little, small. స్వల్పమైన, చిన్న, సూక్ష్మమైన, అలతినగవు, అనగా చిరునవ్వు. 'బలుపు చూపినదేమొ యలతినడుము.' N. vii. 18. అలతి or అలంతి n. A trifle, a small thing అల్పము, స్వల్పము. 'అలతులబోవు తప్పె, యిదియైనను.' TUR. vi. 20. అలతులు or అలంతులు n. plu. Low wretches, mean men.. అల్పులు. 'అలుతులైన వారికంటె నతిపెద్దలకును జాలపెద్దయగుదయాళు గొలుతున్.' M. XII. ii. 26.

(p. 139) irri irri. [Tel.] n. The male of the Indian antelope, a black. A Bennettii, of Sykes, Elliot. ఇర్రింక. (for ఇర్రిజింక) A male antelope. మగలేడి. ఇర్రింక చూపులు wild glances like those of the antelope. 'ఈక్షింపగా నేర్చె నిర్రింక చూపుల, మోవిగూర్పగనేర్చె మొలకనవ్వు.' Matid. iii. 248. ఇర్రింకులు irrinkulu. (p. 142) isirintalu isirintalu. [Tel.] n. Movement. చలనము. క 'భూపాలమెరుగుబోడుల చూపులకుందాయునీదు సొబగట్లగుటన్, మీపిన్నది యిసిరింతలలల చూపులనరగంట వెరచుచున్నినుజూచున్.' సై. viii.

(p. 143) īkṣaṇamu īkshaṇamu. [Skt.] n. Eye, look. కన్ను, చూపు. ఈక్షించు īkshinṭsu. v. t. To see, to look.

(p. 158) uddi uddi. [Tel.] n. A match, an equal, a rival. Rivalry, equality. A bank or dam with a channel on it, into which water is pumped to be conveyed to higher lands. The name of a certain tree. Bignonia spathacea. Rox. iii. 103. జత, సమానము. ఉద్దిచూపు to rival. ఉద్దులు equals సమానులు. ఉద్దులుద్దులుగా పోరాడి fighting hand to hand. ఉద్ది uddi. adj. Paired, couple, side by side. ఉద్దించు uddinṭsu. v. a. To pair, match, couple. జతపరచు, పోలు, ఉద్దికాడు uddikāḍu. n. A match, an equal. A friend ౛తకాడు, చెలికాడు.

(p. 180) ekasakemu or ఎకసక్కెము ekasakemu. [Tel.] n. A prank, trick. వంచన. Mockery పరిహాసము. 'చక్కెరవింటివాని యెకసక్కె ములన్నియుచూపు' indulging in all sorts of amorous pranks.

(p. 193) ēkadṛṣṭi ēka-drishṭi. [Skt.] n. One that has only one eye. ఒక్క చూపు గలది. A crow కాకి.

(p. 207) oṭṭu oṭṭu. [Tel.] n. An oath శపథము. A penalty, curse, ban, interdiction నిరోధము. నిద్రపట్టితే ఒట్టు a curse on me if I slept! ఆ దారి చూపు, నేను పోకపోతే ఒట్టు shew me the way and it shall be my fault if I do not go. See ఆన. ఒట్టుపెట్టుకొను oṭṭu-peṭṭu-konu. v. i. To take an oath. ఒట్టుపెట్టు oṭṭu-peṭṭu. v. i. to adjure, to impose a vow or solemn promise. T. ii. 98. To ban or forbid by a curse. ఒట్టువిడుచు to remove an oath or interdiction ఆనవిడుచు.

(p. 208) oḍalu or ఒళ్లు oḍalu. [Tel.] n. The body, the person మేను, శరీరము. plu. ఒడళ్లు. L. viii. 50. ఒడలి oḍali. Of the body. See ఒళ్లు ఒడలిచూపొడయడు an epithet of Indra (అచ్చ: రామా: కిష్కిం.) ఒడలిమరువు oḍali-maruvu. n. Armour, as a 'covering for the body.'

(p. 209) oḍḍu oḍḍu. [Tel.] n. A bank or shore. దరి. The original number; whether multiplicand or dividend. The disposition of an army in a battle field వ్యూహము. A stake in gambling. పందెము. ఒడ్డిమి. An attempt పూనిక. An obstacle. అడ్డపాటు. ఒడ్డువేసికొని యుండు. to be in wait or ambush. ఒడ్డు విరిగి దాని మీద పడ్డారు they fell upon him tooth and nail. ఒడ్డుచూపు to place one's troops. నీ ఒడ్డు విరుగుగాక may the greatness perish. ఒడ్డు or ఒడ్డైన oḍdu. adj. Large, great, stout, big. ఒడ్డుగుండ్లు large balls, boulders, or, fragments of rocks hurled from a hill. ఒడ్డోలగము oḍḍ-ōlagamu. (ఒడ్డు+ఓలగము) n. A great assembly. ఒడ్డుమెరక high and low, ups and downs: unevenness.

(p. 218) ōpu ōpu. [Tel.] v. t. To bear, endure, tolerate. ఓర్చు. చూపోపక A. v. 78. unable to stand before his face. ఇంతకష్టమోపలేను I cannot bear this trouble. ఓప రాని. ōpa-rāni. adj. Intolerable సహింపగూడని. ఓపలేని ōpa-lēni. adj. Impatient. ఓర్పులేని; helpless,దిక్కులేని. ఓపలేనివారికి వద్దన్నవారే తల్లిదండ్రులు those who check the impatient are their best friends. ఓపు ōpu. v. n. To be fit, to suit; to be worthy: to be able: to be possible or practicable. చాలు, తగియుండు, పోనోప్పనా can he go? పోనోపడు he cannot go. ఈనోపని unable to give.

(p. 218) ōra ōra. [Tel.] n. The side, border, edge. అంచు. A whole day and night అహోరాత్రము. ఒక ఓరను ఉంటిమి we stood on one side. ఓరగా sidelong, sideways. తలుపోరగా చేసెor ఓరవాకిలి చేసినది she opened the door a little, or, set it a jar. ఓరబోయి becoming crooked వంకరపోయి. BD. vi. ఓరచూపు ōra-ṭsūpu. n. A sidelong glance. బెళుకుటోర యొయారపు చూపు leeringly. ఓరంతపొద్దు ōranta-poddu. (ఓర+అంత+ప్రొద్దు) the livelong day, all day long, దినమంతయు, ఆసాయము. Also, a little రవంత, ఇసుమంత. 'ఉప్పులేకుండన నోరంతప్రొద్దు చప్పిడితాగిన సాగునే కాళ్లు? రాలేకొదుగబడి రాకయున్నాడు.' Pal. 316.
