(p. 284) kilakoṭṭu kila-koṭṭa. [Tel.] v. a. To stir, beat, or whip buttermilk, so as to clear it. v. n. To sound. మ్రోగు. చెలగు.

(p. 291) kuccela kuchchela. [Tel.] n. (plu. కుచ్చెలలు or కుచ్చెళ్లు.) A rick of corn. A heap of cut corn. జొన్నలలోనగువానికుప్ప. a land measure which in Guntur district is twenty nine acres or (33 3/16) thirty three gunṭas (see గుంట) and three sixteenths. One కుచ్చెల is nearly the same as a కత్తి of land, and is equal to eight గొర్రులు or 400 కుంటలు. The land that produces one stack of corn; it varies in various districts, and the above stated quantity is that fixed in the government rates. కుచ్చెళ్లువేయు to lay corn in ricks. కుచ్చెళ్లు See కుచ్చె. కుచ్చెలగంత or కుచ్చెల బొంత a bag of corn.

(p. 422) civvāḍu or సివలాడు chivv-āḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To ramble, rove. To sport, play. చెలగట్లాడు, చిందులుతొక్కు.

(p. 431) celagu chelagu. [Tel.] v. n. To appear, arise, occur, befall, take place, happen, ఒప్పు; enjoy oneself. Resound శబ్దించు; break forth, be felt (as a passion,) come to light, be betrayed, to break out (as a sore.). పుష్పవర్షముచెలగె. a shower of flowers took place. To flourish, be strong. ఒప్పు. To rejoice ఉత్సహించు. సంతోషించు. To sound శబ్దించు, బొబ్బరించు. చెలగించు chela-ginṭsu. v. a. (causal of చెలగు) To betray, give forth, emit (sighs.) చెలగిగళధ్వనుల్ చెలగించి చెలగించి more and more plainly were his sobs heard.

(p. 531) tirumala tiru-mala. [Tel. తిరు+మల.) n. The sacred hill of Tirupati వెంకటాచలము. Any sacred hill. తిరుమలేశ tirumal-ēṣa. n. The Lord of Tirumala, a name employed in the chorus used by a poet who wrote a set of riddles: like this one; 'మూడుశిరములున్ను ముదమొప్పపదికాళ్లు గల్గు; తోకలురెండు కన్నులారు చెలగి కొమ్ములు నాల్గు చేతులు రెండయా, దీనిభావమేమి తిరుమలేశ.' The meaning of this is:--'a man ploughing with a pair of oxen.' See తిరు.

A small hill at the foot of a mountain. కొండదరి దిబ్బ. తమ పాదాలనే నమ్మివచ్చినాను I came in reliance on your honour as my protector. This is a mere conversational compliment, like 'I kiss your hands' in Spanish. పాదతీర్థము water made holy by washing a saint's feet. పాదపద్మములు lotus-like feet. పాదలాక్ష red paint for the feet of women, పారాణి. తమపాదాలసముఖానకు నా కుమారుణ్ని తెచ్చి అప్పగిస్తున్నాను permit me to introduce my son to your honour's protection. వాడు తండ్రిపాదాలమీద పడెను he fell on his father's feet. తమపాదాలవద్ద before your honour, in your presence. తమపాదాల శరణుచొచ్చినాను I throw myself on your goodness. పాదచారి pāda-chāri. n. A foot passenger. కాలిబంటు. One who goes walking, నడచి పోవువాడు. పాదజుడు pādajuḍu. n. A Sudra, because born from the feet of Brahma. పాదత్రాణము pāda-trāṇamu. n. A shoe or boot. పైజారు. పాదపము pādapamu. n. A tree. పాదపూర్ణము pāda-pūrṇamu. n. An unnecessary word inserted in verse, to fill up the measure, such as in Sanskrit the words తు, హి, చ, స్మ, హి, వై, or, in Telugu poetry the words, ఒగి, తగ, మరి, ఇల, మహి , or verbs, చెలగు, ఒప్పు, &c. పాదరసము pāda-rasamu. n. Quick-silver, mercury. రసము. పాదలి pādali. n. A base or low man, అధముడు. 'పాపపు విప్రుని పనికిగామున్ను, తాపికాడైన పాదలిమందడీడు.' HD. iii. 110.

(p. 808) podalu podalu. [Tel.] v. n. To increase, to flourish or thrive, be generated, be produced. అభివృద్ధియగు, పెరుగు, ఉద్భవించు, చెలగు, విజృంభించు, ప్రకాశించు. 'కాంచనమణి భూషులు చీరలు నరపతికిం, బొలతికి నుడుగరలు ముదము బొదలగనంతన్.' Swa. v. 120. పొదలించు podalinṭsu. v. a. To undertake. పూనుకొను. The consonant sound of a letter, etc., A useless word, a slip of the tongue. A lie, a falsehood. అనృతము. 'పొల్లురాదగని దోస్తివి.' Pal. 399. అనగా, అబద్ధము రాగూడని స్నేహమువాడవు. adj. Useless, వ్యర్థము, Sumati, 29. పొల్లునదంచిన బియ్యము corn beaten out of husk of pined grain. వాని పొల్లు వాడు పోసికొని బ్రతుకుతాడు he keeps his blighted grain to himself, i.e., he keeps all his griefs to himself. బంగారుపొల్లు ఉన్నదిగాని మనిషిపొల్లులేదు gold may prove worthless, but man neveer can be so. మాట పొల్లుపోకుండా ఆడుతాడు he speaks without any slips. నకారపొల్లు the letter N. (్) without the vowel sound attached to it as in the words కలిగెన్, చెలగెన్. పొల్లుపోవు pollu-pōvu. v. n. To become worthless. చెబ్బరైపోవు. 'కాళ్ల గొలుసులవారు గడెమస్నెబంట్లు, జోళ్లుగా నున్ణట్టి సురభినాయకులు, ఘల్లుమన్నతిరిగి మళ్లుమనువారు, పొల్లుపోకయని పోట్లాడువారు.' Pal. 107. To lie, tell stories or lies, అబద్ధమాడు. పొల్లుదనము pollu-danamu. n. Dispiritedness, effeminacy, పౌరుషములేమి. పొల్లుపడు pollu-paḍu. v. n. To become useless, వ్యర్థమగు.

Eagerly, affectionately. అశతో, ప్రియముగా. This word is often used as a mere peg to fill the metre. రహించు or రహియించు rahinṭsu. v. n. To bloom, flourish, to be pleasant, to be agreeable, to shine. వెలయు, చెలగు, ఒప్పు, వర్ధిల్లు. 'మెరపుతులకించ జడివాన మెలుపుగాంచ కరకలురహించ నిరులునల్గడలమించ.' Paidimarri vi. 29.
