(p. 7) aṇṭa anṭa. [Tel.] n. A crowd. A platter formed of leaves stitched together విస్తరి. ఒక అంటపొడుచుకొనిరా stitch the leaves as a platter. అంటగట్టు anṭagaṭṭu. [From అంటు to touch] v. a. To join together, to unite, to tie together చేర్చికట్టు. దీనితో అంటగట్టినపద్దులు the items joined with this. అంటలుగట్టు v. To assemble in mobs. గుంపులుకూడు, జతిచేరు. 'అంటలుగట్టి చెల్కలకు నాండ్రును బిడ్డలు కూరకోయ.' ఆముక్త. iii.

(p. 11) antaruvu antaruvu. [Skt.] n. Interval Difference తారతమ్యము. A secret place మరుగుచోటు. 'పెద్దపిన్నయంతరువు లెరింగి' విజ. 1. అ. క' అరుగుసెడ నంతరిపురమున నరవిరిపాన్పుపయి నొరిగి యావల ధరణీ, శ్వరుడను నీవలనొకయం, తరుపున జిత్రాంగి చెలులు దానుండంగన్.' సా. 3. అ.

(p. 19) akka akka. [Tel. a Dravidian word borrowed by Sanskrit, where it is used in the sense of mother. cf. Lat. acca] n. An elder sister. అక్కచెల్లెళ్లు elder and younger sisters. పెద్దక్క the eldest sister. Any woman older than oneself is usually styled అక్క elder sister, or అమ్మ mother, madam: and any man older than onself is usually styled అస్న elder brother, or, అయ్య father, sir. పంటలక్క a cook or kitchen maid. See అక్కలవాడ.

(p. 28) accāḷi or అచ్చాళు aṭṭsāḷi. (K) One who lives a single life, an unmarried person. ఒంటిమనిషి, ఏకాంగిగా మండేవాడు, సంసారపు పీకులాటలేనివాడు అచ్చాళుగానుండు or అచ్చాళిగానుండు to be alone, to be quiet, free from perturbation. 'చారుశిలాముఖ్యజలజలోచనల, చేరికాబంధుల చెలులనీక్షణమె, పగరకుజొరరాక బహుదుర్గమార్గ, మగుకోహళమహర్షి యాశ్రమస్థలిని, జేరిచి మనము నిశ్చింతనేతెంచి, యారూఢిబలయుక్తి నచ్చాళిగాగ, అనికిసన్నద్ధులమై యందమవల.' (p. 28) accika or అచ్చికము acchika. [Tel.] n. Deficiency, want, defect. Clearness, cleanness. కొదవ, అచ్చము, ప్రసన్నము, తేరినది. 'నీకొకందులకు నచ్చికలేక మెలంగ.' H. i. 93. 'పల్వలంబులు లేతపచ్చికమచ్చిక చెలులకందిచ్చు నచ్చికములేక.' B. viii. 46.

(p. 75) amma amma. [Tel. cf. Aryan root 'Ma.'] n. Mother. తల్లి. Madam. అమ్మక్కచెల్ల, అమ్మచెల్ల alas! ah! oho! అమ్మణ్ని, అమ్మద్యు or అమ్మా or అమ్మల్ల interj. My dear, my love. అమ్మవారు amma-vāru. goddess. The small pox. బ్రాహ్మణస్త్రీ, పోలేరు, మశూచికము. ఆ సత్రములో వుండే అమ్మవారిని పిలువు call the Brahmin woman who is in the lodge. అమ్మవారికి పొంగలి పెట్టినారు they offered a sacrifice to the village goddess. వానికి అమ్మవారు పోసినది he has got the small pox. అమ్మవారి చుక్కలు, అమ్మ చుక్కలు pock marks. అమ్మవారి చుక్కలగల or అమ్మచుక్కలుగల pitted with the small pox. అమ్మవారు పోయించు to inoculate. అమ్మవారిధూము an outbreak of cholera. అమ్మాయి ammāyi. (p. 93) avadagāki avada-gāki. [Tel.] n. An abominable wretch. పలుగాకి. 'దాచియెదురు పోయి దక్కిన గతి నువ్వునివ్వటిల్లవదన నీరజమున, కూర్చి చెట్టబట్టుకొని తెచ్చెలోపలి, కవదగాకినారియత్తలారి.' P. i. 592.

(p. 117) āmani āmani. [Tel.] n. Alarm, fright, annoyance. Also, season, time, harvest time. Plenty. వసంత, ఋతువు. సమృద్ధి అన్నం బామనిగానిడుము give them plenty to eat. పేరామని a long time. ఆమని చెలికాడు Cupid. మన్మధుడు.

(p. 122) āru āru. [Tel.] v. n. To teem with, be full of నిండు; to be or have. సొంపారిన beautiful. ఇంపారిన delightful. నిండారుగానున్నది it is full. అలరారు blooming. చెన్నారిన lovely. పొల్పారిన charming (compare the affix ఆరి as నేర్పరి, సొంపరి, &c.) గోజారు to trouble. సొంపారు to bloom, to be pretty. In such phrases as నూరారు వెయ్యారు the word అరు is not the numeral six, but is a form of అరు to be full; so వెయ్యారు means full thousand and నూరారు full a hundred. నూరారుముద్దులు a full hundred kisses. చేతులారంగ శివుని పూజింపడేని if he sacrifice not to Siva with his own hands. చేతులార రూకలు చెల్లిస్తిని I paid the money with my own hands. పని ఆరుమూడు అయినది the work is all in confusion, at sixes and sevens.

(p. 125) āli or ఆళి āli. [Skt.] n. A line, row, or range, a bank or ridge. A woman's female friend or gossip. చెలికత్తె. ఆలి [Tel.] n. Ridicule, satire. adj. Inferior. హీనమైన. ఆలిగొను āli-gonu. [Tel.] To ridicule. ఆపహసించు. To disrespect or disgrace. హీనపరచు. రామా. అర; నిర్వ. v. భార. శల్య. ii.

(p. 158) uddi uddi. [Tel.] n. A match, an equal, a rival. Rivalry, equality. A bank or dam with a channel on it, into which water is pumped to be conveyed to higher lands. The name of a certain tree. Bignonia spathacea. Rox. iii. 103. జత, సమానము. ఉద్దిచూపు to rival. ఉద్దులు equals సమానులు. ఉద్దులుద్దులుగా పోరాడి fighting hand to hand. ఉద్ది uddi. adj. Paired, couple, side by side. ఉద్దించు uddinṭsu. v. a. To pair, match, couple. జతపరచు, పోలు, ఉద్దికాడు uddikāḍu. n. A match, an equal. A friend ౛తకాడు, చెలికాడు.
