(p. 83) argaḷamu argaḷamu. [Skt.] n. A round wooden bar or bolt for a door. గడియమాను. (Metaphorically) an impediment, hindrance, restraint. విఘ్నము, అభ్యంతరము. అనర్గళముగా irresistibly. వాని అధికారము అవర్గళముగా జరుగుచున్నది his authority is unrestricted.

(p. 347) gaṇḍamu ganḍamu. [Skt.] n. The side of the head. చెక్కిలి. An elephant's temple. ఏనుగుచెక్కిలి. The baleful influence of a star. గ్రహయోగము. An evil event, a narrow escape, గొప్ప అపాయము. దినగండము నూరేండ్లాయిస్సు to live long in daily peril of ruin. నాకు దినగండముగా జరుగుచున్నది I am daily living from hand to mouth. గండము గడిచి బయలుపడ్డది the affair is over and this is the result. Lit the trouble is over, the child is born. అతడు తండ్రి గండమునకు పుట్టినాడు he was born to be the cause of his father's ruin. గండపాళి ganḍa-pāḷi. n. The temple or side of the head. గండమండలము ganḍa-manḍalamu. n. The temples of the head.

(p. 660) nirvahiñcu nir-vahinṭsu. v. a. To manage, carry through, perform. To protect, నిర్వహిల్లజేయు. నిర్వాహము or నిర్వాహకము nir-vāhamu. n. Management, power or ability to perform. execute or sustain. జరుగుబాటు, శక్తి. నిర్వాహకుడు nir-vāhakuḍu. n. A manager or director: a man of ability. నిర్వహించువాడు విద్యానిర్వాహకుడు a Director of Learning.

(p. 1053) yadbhaviṣyuḍu yad-bhavishyuḍu. [Skt.] n. One who resigns himself to whatever may happen, without putting forth his own exertions. తాను ఏప్రయత్నమును చేయక జరుగునది జరుగనిమ్మని యూరకుండువాడు.

(p. 1113) lōpamu lōpamu. [Skt.] n. Deficiency; a defect, a flaw, fault; something wanting, a hiatus, omission, disappearance. A passage lost in a poem. Dropping a letter by grammatical rule. అగుపడక పోవడము, హీనత్వము, తక్కువ. పూర్వస్థితికి లోపము లేకుండా వారికి జరుగుతున్నది they have not fallen away from their former state. లోపించు lōpinṭsu. v. n. To be dropped, elided, understood, as a syllable. అగుపడకపోవు.

(p. 1134) vartanamu vartanamu. [Skt.] n. Conduct, behaviour, నడవడి. Staying, abiding. ఉనికి, స్థితి. Profession, occupation, livelihood. వృత్తి, వ్యాపారము, జీవనోపాయము. An act, పని, కృత్యము.' ఆవధూమనినవ్వి నా వర్తనము నీవచెప్పితివింక నేజెప్పవలెనె. KP. iv. 2. 'భువనంబులవర్తనంబులనీకు తేటపడనివిలేవుగావున.' M. XII. i. 20. 'గృహకృత్యవర్తనలనన్మరపించు.' T. ii. 161. వర్తన vartana. [from వ ర్తనము.] n. A fee. వర్తనుడు vartanuḍu. n. (In composition) One who practises, or behaves, వ్యాపారముగలవాడు. పాపవర్తనుడు an evil doer. సద్వర్తనుడు a well doer, one who acts properly. 'వావెరుంగనియీపాపవర్తనుండు.' H. i. 51. వర్తమానము adj. Being, existing, living, being present. స్థితమైన, విద్యమానమైన. సర్వత్రవర్తమానమైన omnipresent. Anand. i. 11. వర్తి varti. n. One who is, behaves or acts, వర్తించువాడు. Sandal, perfume. గాత్రానులేపని, పరిమళ ద్రవ్యములు కూర్చిన గంధపుబిళ్ల. The foil placed under a precious stone of the same colour to increase its lustre. మణిరంజకద్రవ్యము. The wick of a lamp, దీపపువత్తి. వర్తించు, వర్తిలు or వర్తిల్లు vartinṭsu. v. n. To be, remain, abide; to act, behave. ఉండు, వసించు, ప్రవర్తించు.' ఎయ్యెదివాసంబెందువర్తింతు.' URK. ii. 262. ఈశబ్దము మూడు లింగములయందును వర్తించును this word is used in all genders, i.e., it is of the common gender. వర్తిష్ణువు vartishṇuvu. adj. Staying, abiding, being stationary, or fixed. ఉండేవాడు, నిలుకడగానుండువాడు, వర్తించువాడు.

(p. 1318) sāṃvatsarikamu sām-vatsarikamu. [Skt. from సంవత్సరము.] n. An anniversary of a death. సంవత్సరరాంతమున జరుగునది, తద్దినము, ఆబ్దికము. సాంవత్సరుడు sām-vastsaruḍu. n. An astrologer, జ్యోతిష్కుడు, జోస్యుడు, 'సాంవత్సరికదత్తకాల కళావిశేషంబున మంగళ తూర్యంబులు సెలంగ.' M. IV. v. 396.

(p. 1320) sāgu or చాగు sāgu. [Tel.] v. n. To go on, proceed, get on, advance, continue, be current, be usual. To lengthen, to extend, as hot iron under the hammer. To take effect. To begin, నడుచు, జరుగు, దీర్ఘమగు, నిడుపగు, ఆరంభించు. n. A spit or iron lance, a short arrow thrown from the hand, అడుగున త్రాడుకట్టినకటారి, అలుగు వంటి ఆయుధవిశేషము. Cultivation, tillage. కృషి, వ్యవసాయము. దండుసాగుచుండగా when the army was marching. పని సాగలేదు the business does not go on or proceed. అతని మాట సాగలేదు his word did not take effect. కమ్మిపాగలేదు the wire could not be drawn out or lengthened. ఆ ఉత్సవము సాగుచున్నదా is the feast still kept up? దానికోరిక కొనసాగినది her wish is fulfilled. చెప్పసాగినది she went on to say. ఇది లేకుండా నాకు సాగదు I cannot get on without this. అక్కడ సాగకవస్తిని as I could not subsist there I came away. సాగుపాటు sāgu-pāṭu. n. Means of getting on, livelihood. జరుగుపాటు. సాగుబడి sāgu-baḍi. n. Cultivation. వ్యవసాయము. plu. సాగుబళ్లు. సాగగొట్టు sāga-goṭṭu. v. a. To hammer, out, extend or draw out (by heating a rod of iron, gold, etc.) పొడుగగునట్లుగా కొట్టు, సాగదీయు sāga-dīyu. v. a. To extend, stretch out, draw out, lengthen, పొడుగగునట్టుగా లాగు. To importune, మిక్కిలి ప్రార్థించు, బతిమాలుకొను. వాణ్ని ఎంత సాగదీసినా పోనన్నాడు however much I urged him he said he would not go. సాగనంపు sāga-n-ampu. v. a. To send away, to send one on, to set a traveller on his way, to convey or accompany one for a little distance. జపించు. సాగబడు or సాగిలబడు sāga-baḍu. v. n. To fall down at full length, flat or prostrate. సాష్టాంగపడు. 'సాగబడి మ్రొక్కిన శౌరికృ పార్ద్రచిత్తుడై.' Parij. v. 48. సాగించు sāginṭsu. v. a. To conduct, carry on (a business.) To celebrate (a feast.) జరుపు. కీళ్లుసాగించినారు they performed the swinging feast.
