A chapter or section. An act in a play. Proximity. A numerical figure, a cipher. A military show, a sham fight. వింతపోరు, చిత్రయుద్ధము. 'అంకగతుడైన దైత్యుని నాగ్రహమున.' భాగ. A fault, a sin, Objection, cavil ఆక్షేపము. 'అంకముసేయవచ్చునలయయ్యలమున్నుగ బ్రస్తుతించెదన్.' మైరా. i. అంకతలము or అంకపీఠి the lap, the part on which an infant sits, as on the lap. [Skt.] n. The office of an officiating priest. నంభితనము, పూజచేయుట. అర్చకుడు archa-kuḍu. n. An officiating priest. పూజచేయువాడు, నంబివాడు. అర్చించు archinṭsu. v. a. To worship, adore, offer, as flowers. పూజించు. అర్చితుడు n. One who is worshipped.

(p. 87) alamariñcu or అలమరు alamarinṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To be wearied or exhausted. ఆయాసపడు to grieve చింతపడు 'ప్లవగంబట్లల మరి మే నవశంబగుటయు త్యజించెనసువుల.' P. i. 137.

(p. 91) alluḍu alluḍu. [Tel. from అల్లు lit. one who plaits, i.e., who is the means by which the family circle is enlarged.] n. A son-in-law. జామాత, మేనల్లుడు the son of a man's sister, or of a woman's brother. అల్లుడుకొమాళ్లు n. plu. Foster brothers or vassals, who feed at the baron's table and form his body-guard. దొరతోదొరగా భోజనము చేసి అతనికి అంగరక్షకులుగా నుండేవారు. అల్లువాడు n. A son-in-law. అల్లుడు, జామాత. 'అల్లువాని మృతికి నాత్మజింతించును, తనయు మృతికి దానె తలచుచుండు, పుణ్యపురుషు మృతికి భూలోకజనులకు నుర్వి క్రుంగినట్టులుండు.' Vema. 1288.

(p. 92) avakṣēpamu ava-kshēpamu. [Skt.] n. The act of discarding a thing after finding fault with it. తప్పు మాపి విసర్జించడము. Sarcasm, irony. సోల్లుంఠనము, ఆయములెత్తి ఆడడము, పొడుపుడు మాటలు. అవక్షిప్తము adj. Discarded as faulty, sarcastic, ironical, having an insinuation. తప్పుమోపి విసర్జింపబడినది, సోల్లుంఠనమైన.

(p. 120) āragiñcu āraginṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To partake of food or drink. భుజించు, త్రాగు. ఆరగింపు or ఆరగింత āragimpu. n. Eating; food, భుక్తి ఆరగింపుచేయు v. To eat, or cause to eat.

(p. 122) āru āru. [Tel.] v. n. To teem with, be full of నిండు; to be or have. సొంపారిన beautiful. ఇంపారిన delightful. నిండారుగానున్నది it is full. అలరారు blooming. చెన్నారిన lovely. పొల్పారిన charming (compare the affix ఆరి as నేర్పరి, సొంపరి, &c.) గోజారు to trouble. సొంపారు to bloom, to be pretty. In such phrases as నూరారు వెయ్యారు the word అరు is not the numeral six, but is a form of అరు to be full; so వెయ్యారు means full thousand and నూరారు full a hundred. నూరారుముద్దులు a full hundred kisses. చేతులారంగ శివుని పూజింపడేని if he sacrifice not to Siva with his own hands. చేతులార రూకలు చెల్లిస్తిని I paid the money with my own hands. పని ఆరుమూడు అయినది the work is all in confusion, at sixes and sevens.
