A rock. రాయి. చట్టుమన్ను hard soil. చట్టునుయ్యి. చట్టుపడ్డనుయ్యి a well abandoned because found to be over an impenetrable rock. చట్టురాయి or చట్రాయి the living rock. చట్టుకొడుకు. (HK. iv. 864.) a wretch, a villain. A disciple శిష్యుడు. చట్టుతనము ṭsṭṭu-tanamu. n. Inexorability, cruelty: a stony or rocky stubbornness.

(p. 577) daṃṣṭra or దంష్ట్రము damshṭra. [Skt.] n. A tusk or large tooth. కోరపల్లు. దంష్ట్రాయుధము damshṭr-āyudhamu. n. That which is armed with tusks, i.e., a wild boar. వరాహము. దంష్ట్రి damshṭri. adj. Tusked, toother, carnivorous. n. A wild boar.

(p. 586) dāṭu dāṭu. [Tel.] v. n. &a. To cross over, to pass over. To jump or leap, లంఘించు, To elude. To escape. To go beyond or transgress, ఉల్లంఘించు. To cross or copulate, applied to cattle. నామాట అడుగుదాటకు transgress not my command. n. A crossing. A jump, గంతు, లంఘనము. A host, any army, సమూహము. చతురంగబలయుతసేన. Vijaya. i. 174. Pārij. iv. 5. A sore due to having crossed some unlucky spot. దాటులుదాటించిరి they made the cattle pass over a ploughshare for good luck. Also, an ordeal; passing or stepping over an idol. దాట్రాయి or దాటురాయి dāṭrāyi. n. A boys' game. దాట్లువేయు dāṭlu-vēyu. v. n. To bound or jump. దాట్లువేస్తూరావడము to come bounding along. దాటుకట్టు dāṭu-kaṭṭu. v. n. To become a crowd. గుంపుకూడు. దాటుకొను. Same as దాటు. దాటించు dāṭinṭsu. v. a. To cause to pass over. To pass over. అక్కడ పది దినములు దాటించినాడు he passed ten days there.

(p. 651) niṭra , నిట్రము or నెట్రము niṭra. [Tel. from నిట్ట and నిడు.] n. Height. నిలువు. కలమునుఅంత నిట్రముగా పట్టుకొనుము do not hold the pen so high or erect. నిట్రాయి niṭrāyi. (నిట్ట+రాయి.) n. A long stone A post, a prop. The centre post, (or kind post) of a building. నిట్రించు niṭrinṭsu. v. t. To keep or hold erect, నిలువుగానుంచు.

(p. 1015) mūta mūta. [Tel from మూయు.] n. Shutting, closing, covering, మూయుట. A cover, lid, top. A valve, any little door as that of a lantern. The cover or parchment of a drum. మూయునది. మూతపడు or మూతలుపడు mūta-paḍu. v. n. To be closed, మూసికొనిపోవు. అతని చెవులు మూతలుపడినవి his ears were stunned, his ears tingled. మూతపొడువు mūta-poḍuvu. n. A kind of game. ఒక ఆట. 'దాయాలుసొగటాలు దాట్రాయి చదరంగమును పోటురాళ్లును, మూతపొడువు, వామనగుంటలు.' H. iii.191. మూతబల్ల mūta-balla. n. A sheathing plank that closes up the ends of the rafters of a pent roof. ఇంటి ముంజూరును మూయుబల్ల, వాచూరుపట్టె.

(p. 1355) sogaṭamu ṣogaṭamu. [Tel. (సొగపు+ఆటము.)] n. A man or piece used in backgammon. సారె. సొగటాలు sogaṭālu. (సొగపు+ఆటములు.) n. plu. Backgammon. Dice-play. A certain game played with dice on a coloured cloth. The pieces or pawns used in this game.పగడసాలాట, జూదమాడే సారెలు. సొగటాలగుడ్డ the chequered cloth used in this game. 'సొగసుపటికంబుల నమర్చిరిచూడుమీసొగటాలచందము.' S. i. 158. 'దాయాలుసొగటాలుదాట్రాయి చదరంగమును.' H. iii. 191.
