(p. 38) aḍḍamu aḍḍamu. [Tel.] n. Obstacle, hindrance, A screen. అభ్యంతరము, ఆటంకము, చటు. A pledge తాకట్టు నీ మాటకు అడ్డము లేదు no one will resist you. వాండ్లకు మాకు గోడ అడ్డముగా ఉండినది there was a wall between them and us. ఒక నగను అడ్డము పెట్టి యిరువైరూపాయలు తెచ్చినాడు he pawned a jewel and got twenty rupees. నా పనికి అడ్డము వచ్చినాడు he opposed my endeavours. మొగుణ్ని అడ్డముపెట్టుకొని తానే అన్ని పనులు చూచుకొనిపోయినది she used her husband as a screen and carried on the business. వాడు తండ్రికి అడ్డమాడుతాడు he opposes or contradicts his father. తిరుపతికి పోయేలోగా మూడేళ్లు అడ్డమువస్తవి there are three rivers to cross on the way to Tirupati. ఏదో ఒకటి వచ్చి అడ్డముపడినది something has got in the way. వానికి అడ్డము తగిలినారు they interrupted him. కొంతదూరము దోవనే పోయి అవతల అడ్డము తిరిగినాడు or అడ్డము తొక్కినాడు he went along some way and then cut across. 'కరాగ్రములు దృష్టులకడ్డమిడుచు.' BD. iv. 1532. అడ్డముగా aḍḍamu-gā. [Tel.] adv. Crosswise, across, transversely. చెట్టు కండ్లకు అడ్డముగానున్నది the tree intercepts the view, నేను అడ్డముగా నిలిస్తిని I stood in his way.

(p. 85) arpaṇamu arpaṇamu. [Skt.] n. An offering, dedication, delivering up. Placing. ప్రదానము, ఉంచడము. అంకురార్పణము the offering of buds to a god. అర్పించు arpinṭsu. v. a. To offer, dedicate. ఇచ్చు. తనసొమ్మునంతా పరులకు అర్పించు కూర్చున్నాడు he gave up all his goods and became a beggar. అర్పితము arpitamu. [Skt.] adj. Offered, dedicated. ఇవ్వబడ్డ. కంఠార్పితభూషణము an ornament placed on the neck. ఆ గ్రామము సముద్రార్పితము అయినది the village became the prey of the sea. తన తండ్రికి అర్పితముగా కొంత భూమిని దానము చేసినాడు he gave some land as a gift in memory of his father.

(p. 521) tāta tāta. [Tel. lit. తండ్రికి or తల్లికి తండ్రి] n. A grandfather. Also, a name for Brahma Dasav. iv. 104. తాతమ్మ tāt-am-ma. n. A grandmother.

(p. 1227) vaikuṇṭhamu vaikunṭhamu. [Skt.] n. The paradise of Vishnu. విష్ణువుండెడిస్థానము. మా తండ్రికి వైకుంఠప్రాప్తి అయిన, తరువాత after the death of my father. వైకుంఠుడు vaikunṭhuḍu. n. A name of Vishnu. విష్ణువు. Also, applied to Indra.

(p. 1303) samīpamu samīpamu. [Skt.] n. Nearness, proxiṃity, దగ్గిర, చేరువ. ఆయన సమీపమందు నిలిస్తిని I stood near him. adj. Near. దగ్గిరనున్న, మధ్యాహ్నము సమీపమైనది it is near noon. సమీపస్థుడు samīpa-sthuḍu. n. A bystander. దగ్గిరనున్నవాడు. సమీపించు samī-pinṭsu. v. n. To come near, approach, be imminent. దగ్గిరకువచ్చు. వానితండ్రికి కాలము సమీపించేవేళకు when his father was about to die, when death was near at hand.

(p. 1338) sukṛtamu su-kṛitamu. [Skt.] n. A good work, a good deed, well doing, charity. సుకర్మము, పుణ్యము, శుభము. తనతండ్రికి సుకృతముగా ఈ భూమిని దానము చేసినాడు he made a gift of this land so that his (deceased) father might obtain the fruit of his good deed. సుకృతి or సుకృతవంతుడు sukṛiti. n. A well doer, a benefactor, పుణ్యవంతుడు, ధన్యుడు. సుకృతాత్ముడు sukṛit-ātmuḍu. n. A man of a good disposition, a virtuous man. పుణ్యవంతుడు.
